  1. @nta16 The point really was that the Polo has / had 150 ps and for some reasons could be less to insure than tuning a Fabia or Ibiza and then could be tuned at a later time. But then for some a Fabia vRS Twincharger cost less than a Fabia Monte Carlo with 105 ps, but then you had the lottery of a duff twincharger. Maybe these days are over. or maybe you still can have a Suzuki Swift that handles and is nippy and cheaper than a Fabia that needs a remap..
  2. @Jockster52 personally i do not think there Full History or check tick list is worth much. Not worth £225 for and Oil change and look see. I prefer an Invoice and receipt from local garages that do stuff to the car. The Spark plugs are each 40,000 miles, why would they be due next next year unless that is 40,000 miles since the last change. Pollen filter area cleaned and a filter fitted matters, or a shake and vacuum and at least checked, same with the Air Filter.
  3. There are so many different EV,s and there are drivers out there that should be made to resit their tests. A few years ago the amount of Renault Zoe about without lights on in the dark was unreal. Then the MG EV,s from Motability, Peugoets etc with peole who do not indicate or even get pulled out at junctions. There are some really old codgers in the top price ev,s that should be off the road, and younger muppets as well. Same with PHEV,s. It is like New Drivers, or people that have not driven for years get a New EV, maybe a home charger and the world is their oyster.
  4. @Winston_WoofThey are a good car and people that have good ones are holding on to them. Like your good ladies car, keepers. As to EV performance. Lots of people seem to know all about the acceleration and appear to have not driven the cars. They are not all power all the time. There are BEV,s with modes and some have heavy accelerator pedals in some modes and are not like a hair trigger. Some do shoot of like a scolded cat. But not in default mode when started.
  5. If you want your car tuned best go get it done, speak to those that do them all the time including cars of members from here and their mates and know all about 1.2TSI,s. http://ecotune-scotland.co.uk With the insurance you pay a quicker car as standard that costs less to insure makes sense. There are one about. A Polo BlueGT used to be a good option.
  6. The day or night goes a lot better if you can get in your car and just drive. Best look at the KISS principal and get to know which are which and not get landed with someones else's past headache. Plenty good cars about, even high mileage ones that have been looked after.
  7. @Tien Welcome. Not related to your question which might well have been a fault code from the battery issue. ? But has your car got a Recall on the DQ200 DSG.? They have done a 3rd or 4th one and now up to 2016 on some in Australia. Best check if yours is part of it.
  8. Was your old car was not the issue for VW Group at testing pre WLTP / RDE2. They could just cheat. So now the lights are not using energy if not required. Vorsprung Durch Technik. Advances in technology, or if it is not broke do not fix it.
  9. The 1.8 TSI with a DQ200 DSG is a double trouble possible. Obviously many many many have no issues with 1.8 TSI,s. The problem is the ones that are bad.
  10. With SCR / Adblue you can still get clogged DPF,s and regens and messing about with cold start / short trips. and then the issue some have with AdBlue and the systems. Many might have no issues, but the problem is when you get them. Costs / repairs,. just the PITA really.
  11. OT. re past posts. Today in the same place the Fisker Ocean in Blue was parked last week was a Satin Black one with the very distinctive registration the owner has usually on his ICE Porsche.
  12. I read that the Swiss department of AXA are behind the report on the 50% figure. I read the Law Firms and Insurers in America using this report. & in an EU report. ? Is it global figures, EU / Europe only, and what are the Statistics from insurers for the UK on this. Are there lots of Americans crashing EV,s with minor or major damage or lots of Europeans? EDIT.
  13. @Winston_Woof Did you not read the link you posted. 1 passenger died and then the driver died on Wednesday. 2 passengers did not die.
  14. The car does not know you intend getting out of the car when you turn off the engine even with the seat belt not plugged in. Why should the coming home /Headlights stay on if the door is not going to be opened?
  15. There was a 3 vehicle crash on the A96 near Inverness on Monday and sadly a passenger in a Tesla was killed and i just heard on the news the driver of the Tesla has died. A 3rd person in the Tesla was released from hospital after assessment. The driver of a van involved was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The driver of an HGV was uninjured. This is the first fatal accident involving a Tesla in Scotland but that means nothing as there may have been others.
  16. I just fixed my home tariff,s for 15 months when my current one finishes. I took the gamble of these costs and it is quite an increase on the pretty good one i have been on. High daily standing charges. (Still no Smart Meter fitted but they will be no doubt contacting me again to arrange having one fitted, time will tell if somehow they do this year.) This cost for electricity means charging on the 3 pin cable at home will be about £8.00 for 100-120 miles of travel. (The only thing that will keep the cost down on using an EV and home and then public charging is that there is still some Free charging about where i do charge.)
  17. Look at the first line of your post, you put 2033, so i posted 2023? We need to assume it is the Annual Service coming up after 9,400 miles or 372 days if it was reset at the last service. But if it was on Variable 2 years ago and not reset 12 months ago then it could be coming up for in 21 days. If the stuff above was done a year ago then it is a Oil & Inspection service needed. Oil & Filter, maybe the pollen filter if not changed last year. The spark plugs are every 4 years or 40,000 miles so not needing done again. The brake fluid every 2 years if it needs changed, it can be tested. The Cam Belt interval is no longer at 5 years or 50,000 miles. more like at @180,000miles, and many many years. You just need a simple Oil & Filter Service and inspection and do not get ripped off and the Service Indicator set to Fixed Service Intervals. Look at the Air Filter and see if clean / fresh, it might need replacing.
  18. eg. The MacMaster & Geoff buys cars. A pair of fuds,
  19. She is great, i assume she researched what Fud means in Scotland!
  20. 2023? If it was reset then the Oil & Filter service should be due in 372 days / 9,400 miles if on Fixed Servicing. Get it serviced where ever is good for you and they do actual work. No such thing as a Full Service other than the BMW / Merc ones that were the Big Service. All Fluids, Belts, Bulbs etc etc. So maybe a Major, or an Oil & Inspection with Extended Scope. So when were the Spark Plugs changed, the brake fluid, the pollen filter, the air filter. ? Bottom green chart the old way they were, Minor / Interim & Major time about.
  21. @t5power1980 What group are you a member of? Briskoda membership is not expensive!
  22. Do not accept the Haldex Service at that price. Tell them you want it done correctly, not just an oil change. Check your Air Filter, easy to change. Pollen Filter not much harder. SparkPlugs need looked at and if doing that as well to be changed. Brakes need servicing not just fluid changed.
  23. Ask the people that are supplying it and getting money from you, that is their full time job. Transporters, maybe your car low priority, but they will want it first registered this month do they not, and paid for, or do they want it next month, 1st March registrations.
