the truth about electric cars
I was looking again at Ed Davey and his consultancy. For a legal firm or a Energy company owned by the missus. Needed to be sure the disabled child's future is secure. Nice work. Liberal with hypocrisy like many others. Fill your boots while elected or unelected. ............ Sir Edward Jonathan Davey FRSA MP, & Spouse. At least he has a bit of knowledge on the subject of energy.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Davey The ex Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader & Deputy First Minister of Scotland Lord Nicol Stephen is quite 'BIG' in Windfarms, but then the Scottish Lib Dems were big on renewables. His ownership & directorships of On land Wind Farms and companies & then offshore. http://flotationenergy.com/team

Spark Plugs - 1.5TSI Karoq
£105 was the Skoda fixed price at participating dealers for 3 or 4 spark plugs. It went to £115 and then to POA. So maybe someone has paid a main dealer recently for 3 or 4 plugs supplied and 20 % vat. When the car gets 3 plugs the garage still has one in stock. Very odd how the HMRC allows what seems to be fraud. But they will say you are subsidising those with 4 cylinder cars, cars that use more oil to service etc. Ok if they were cheap Fixed Price services items but they are not.

the truth about electric cars
The Scottish Water video is revealing and them not being able to export / sell into the grid. It is a Cartel, it is a stitch up and it really is a fraud against the people of the UK. Artificially high prices of electricity and huge profits for the few that make up the cartel. Chickens might eventually come home to roost. The Tory & Labour party in the pockets of Oil & Gas and electricity, the likes of the Liberal Democrat leader who has his directorships or consultancy or whatever an Energy Company thinks he has to offer. Ex Elected Politicians as well doing rather well in Energy, Security / IT, Defence. Amber Rudd being a case in point. One of the many, paid for services rendered in the past not just the present. Boris up visiting the North of Scotland. Well there are those that might be getting called on for help they maybe received in the past. Green Freeports and the likes do not come free.

the truth about electric cars
@lol-lolThe farmers and business,s around my area and the owners of the bio-mass products with Solar Farms are not stupid and unaware of the weather like you seem to be. Head for thinking and feet for dancing and these people are registered as Energy Companies, and doing rather well out of common sense and investing lots to make a very lot more money. The Tax Loss days are over and the burning a building down occasionally for the insurance was a few generations back.

the truth about electric cars
@lol-lolPlease do not talk trash about Solar in Scotland on the East coast, but not just in the East. Just look at the actuality of it and the current Solar Farms and the planned and in use ones. I have 3 now within a few miles of where is live and there are many hours of daylight and sun 12 months of the year. http://solarfeeds.com/mag/the-biggest-solar-projects-in-scotlan

the truth about electric cars
Re EDF. https://news.stv.tv/scotland/closure-of-power-stations-by-2028-will-significantly-reduce-energy-generation The only Nuclear Power station in Scotland which is owned by EDF will be getting decommissioned any year now and that will be the end of Nuclear generated electricity in Scotland for a decade or 3 or maybe longer. Other than the Nuclear Submarines obviously that are here maybe for a few years more but maybe not long into the future. ................................. They are generating a lot of electricity that is going to the National Grid to power homes and industry not in Scotland & maybe even in France. http://insider.co.uk/record-level-renewable-electricity-generated-29595999

the truth about electric cars
Time will tell just how good COVEA are. Someone will be providing the insurance for EV,s and it will not be governments.

Unlucky. You must have been lucky with the BMW,s or just had petrols because 3 series and 5 series diesels have had the coolant leak recalls because of the fire risk.

Is it possible to download a blank service record book from somewhere?
Skoda stopped putting Service Books in new Skoda in the UK about 2012 so that is over a decade that cars have not had them. ? Is your car newer than 2012?

2015 Scout 150 power query
What are you wanting to be doing that in 1st for? Use your gears get out of 1st maybe. So the tyres and surface interface is not very good. Is your Haldex actually functioning properly? Is your car when hitched tail down and front going light just as a FWD Cold / warm or hot hatch might be doing. 60 ps Citigo / Fabias can spin front wheels. Surely with your front wheel spin it a Traction Control (TC) or Anti Slip Regulation (ASR) intervention rather than ESC / Electronic Stability Control! But then VW love these letters and terms and use them at different times / models / generations.

the truth about electric cars
The story is there, the Auction / Scrap / Parts people are there saying what they say, the Experts and those in the business talk of additional repair costs. So based on fact and as such true. They are looking into it as a business. Mean while others seem to know the risk or additional risk and are still insuring EV,s. They must be operating with the knowledge that the Insurers that have the John Lewis connection have. 'Telegraph / John Lewis' Goes together like Peaches & Cream or Strawberries an Cream. Would the Telegraph running a story about Home Bargains insurance stopping insuring EV,s be so good?

Do they really not know what VW Group TSI,s or Diesels get as Fixed & Variable servicing? Very little gets changed or done at each Service with a Skoda Main Dealership and stuff needs paid for so the Independent garage should pretty much know what is important. Servicing and Maintenance. Pollen filter every 2 years or sooner, plugs and air filter every 4 years or sooner, do brake fluid when tested and needing done, do brake servicing, do hinges and latches, check everything, tyres, wipers, suspension, drivetrain etc etc. It is very basic stuff for almost every road vehicle.

the truth about electric cars
England has rather a lot of people and that includes London and area. There alone is about 1 and 1/2 times the population of Scotland. London's contribution of renewables to the National Grid is not much is it, or the Nuclear generation? http://gridwatch.co.uk

the truth about electric cars
It is very much b0llocks as will be revealed in the future. Carbon Trading, Carbon Offset, Trading in renewables which is double book keeping or Pyramid selling and really the same kind of fraud that would get others in business jailed. Green certificated energy, electricity and gas. From sustainable sources.

the truth about electric cars
^^^ All part of the Charger Hub owners and companies & Energy Providers kidology that it is Renewables providing the electricity. All these Fields & Hillsides of Solar Farms and onshore Wind Turbines / Farms that do not actually exist but supposedly are transmitting to these chargers. *Actually much from a Power Station that burns Wood Pellets brought by ship from the USA but not considered to be dirty energy because the Government say it is not.* These charger hubs without enough Battery Storage to even hold enough energy from the Off Peak availability overnight. There are Charger Hubs in Scotland with Solar & Battery Storage and even these are only providing a small percentage of what the actual location needs, but it is something but just not anything like enough. If it was really that simply to provide local generation for local needs then more would. There are actually communities doing it and paying their way doing it, but often despite of the Government and the National Grid or the big 6 as they were, not because of them.

the truth about electric cars
'Driveway charging' & chargers off street is lovely, and in the town i am in there will be those with them. 6,300 of a population. No help to those wanting charged here as they are on a journey and passing through and needing power into their car. I am parked near the School & there are 4 EV,s including mine that i can see. About 2 hundred yards away is the one Rapid charger next to the post with 2 kW chargers. At the weekend the Tesla Y was on the Tethered AC for 11 hours and had drawn 32 kWh of electricity for free instead of using one of the 7 kW ports that was available. There are 6 7 kW AC 1/2 a mile away & 2 at the Train Station. (The HC has NHS only chargers for them and the Police.) There is a Private Rapid @ a Farm Shop 4 miles away and a single CPS Rapid with 11 kW AC on the side 5 miles away. This is a pretty well served town for Scotland but considering it is on the South West 300 route and the route to the ferries to Ireland it is pathetic. ................. https://thecourier.co.uk/fp/news/dundee/4765706/dundee-transport-plan-more-ev-chargers-20mph-zones (See the comments and the Drugs death per capita capital of the UK has many services being cut but comparing the 20 mph zones to Edinburgh or elsewhere is daft as a very different City Center & Waterfront area and quite compact and easily accessed and 20 is plenty IMO. Well there it is.) I see that Dundee Council have a new £230 Million 10 year transport plan for the future & it involves more 20 mph limits, bike lane / routes, e-bikes, cargo bikes, EV charging etc etc. SWARCO have an Extension to run Charge Place Scotland and are getting bigged up. The Love in with Transport Scotland & the Scottish Government / SNP. The Monopolies Commission or what ever it likes to be called now really need to look into this. The company that supplied so many chargers / hubs, so equipment, maintenance and won the contract to administer the Charge Place Scotland organisation headquartered in Dundee and run CPS from Dundee with their staff. Damn hopeless where some of the 32 councils are not bothering their back end to keep the chargers there are working properly or expand the network or are now charging more than the commercial companies are. Thank goodness there are companies investing now and using good chargers and not some of the ones SWARCO,s company e-Volt manufacture.

DSG and Haldex service Southampton uk
The issue is being sure that Main Dealers techs or fitters are doing a proper Haldex Service with a clean out and not just an oil change. Hard to believe they after all these years of the system and issues there are places doing a half job for good money when the job done properly takes 20 minutes longer and people expect that even if it costs a bit more.

Aero inserts on 19” Alloys
They are not a figment of imagination. But to make statements about 10% over type approved tyre sizes being illegal is ridiculous. So @Sanqhar please post the section on construction and use regarding the Tyre sizes and 10%. Not about speed accuracy as that is a separate section. So there is the Speedo situation. People have fitted parts or Speedos to ensure that the tyre size used and Speedos are accurate. As it is from the factory they over read and slightly larger / more circumference can have the Speedo accurate. When you go beyond that then you can make adjustments / adaptions. As it is private vehicles very seldom have Speedo accuracy in the UK checked, certainly not at MOT,s. It is just repeating duff gen that is the issue when it comes to tyres and wheels and THE LAW.

the truth about electric cars
Compensation to those that have been lied to and constantly bothered to get them and who get landed with faulty ones is what needs rolled out UK wide. Some people do get this because of the behaviour of the energy companies and the partner companies they use and call centres and practices of cold calling and misinformation. Lying actually about how legally you must have one. How your meter is out of date etc. PS. What an odd way some are reporting the Price Cap difference this quarter. The plain fact is last year is Account holders got £400 and that could have been for 1 account / property of any number of properties they had accounts in their name, or someone in the family or their business. The government were very generous with those that allow them to give away money to anyone regardless of need or actually easily to those maybe with no need..

the truth about electric cars
Smart mater's can allow those with them to get electricity cheaper at times. But really people who have no idea about those who only have a few quid a day to do some cooking, washing and maybe not even have heating are not going to be saving money just because they can charge their EV during the night or because someone that uses more in an hour at peak time than they do in a while day is getting credited for stopping the grid being under stress. This is another con for the more than 'Just getting by' crowd, maybe even Tory Voters. What a b-alls up with smart meters and those as usual making a fortune in the manufacture and installation and much more of a not fit for purpose product with many of them. All with them by 2012 is a distant memory, as is the penalty for the energy or transmission companies that never met the targets for having them installed.

the truth about electric cars
@Graham Butcherwhere have you read this, and when are these going to be mandatory? This type of story telling is a real issue. @Leemaybe has a clip with Colin from Portsmouth saying much the same.

Aero inserts on 19” Alloys
There are a lot of modified vehicles in the UK with oversize tyres that have had a SVA or IVA and MOT,s and that are insured and funnily the 10% tolerance is a figment of some internet imagination. There is Type Approval (Edit typo) & C&U, and there is also declaring Modifications with insurers & also having a speedo calibrated. Maybe not common among those with a Karoq though.
