the truth about electric cars
There is a Council in the South of Scotland away to close a lot of Leisure Centers, Swimming pools, Libraries and much more, and i expect Public (Council) EV charging is going to be pretty expensive & maybe not much being spent on any expansion. I will check out later what the word is on that.

the truth about electric cars
Earlier i was charging my car on Edinburgh City Chargers and BP Pulse @ 55 pence a kWh. Now i am 130 miles west and charhing for free. I took pictures of the VW Buzz Van blocking a bay and not charging and was away to put on ZapMap & PlugShare but before i did i spotted a guy in the control unit shed from BP Pulse and they were at a faulty charger. Nice guys, one with the van and one with a EV6. Anyway up pops a email while i was sitting and Eon Next made me an offer i could have refused but would have been stupid too. I had to agree to a Smart Meter so i did, but then it was them that said previously the installer could not install it a couple of years back. A special Tariff for special people, well ones that get the Warm Home Discount or have qualified in the past. I might even charge the car at home occasionally this winter at this price, maybe even put heating on in the house. Half the price of Angus Council chargers @ 42 pence a kWh be that 7 or 43 / 50 kW, & even less than half with Tesco 7 kW @ 44 pence. (But i am still using them for free since getting the MINI.)

the truth about electric cars
This is pretty much the truth about EV,s. One side of the story but it is very true. There are lots of CEO,s that so have their head in the sand.

the truth about electric cars
Where have they been in Storage across in Spain or just anyplace in the EU or since coming into the UK? They are not into having them hanging about they need the money. GBP money. My Corsa-e was in lock down in a compound for months after coming into the UK just about 3 weeks after being built. It left the port and the transporter could not continue north to Scotland. Covid years.

the truth about electric cars
That will be the very reason. The new bigger battery with a bit more power if you want to spend £10,000 more for that. They will not have Pre-registered too many, they have little choice because they have Average Fleet Emissions to meet in the UK and if they are not getting enough of these registered they cant flog / register the higher emission ICE vehicles. Averages.

That will be because of the 'Optional Final payment' required to be paid is it not if you want to own it after renting for 49 months.

the truth about electric cars
Those 17 year olds spotty oik are only 2 years old now and likely will not be anything like a 17 year old today. The manufacturers have been told today supposedly what the percentage of EV,s that need to be registered in the UK. They get to carry forward from one year if they register more than they were required to as i read it. https://am-online.com/news/market-insight/2023/09/28/dft-finally-confirms-zev-mandate-15k-fines-per-car-for-missed-targets

Service Plan
No not really at year 2, 3 or 4 or unless needed. -But it is on actual service schedules if they want to bring it up, and an up-selling item in the UK. They will tell you why you should have one quite possibly but ask if they would and see what they say.

Service Plan
The Pollen / Cabin filter @ 2 years is easy and cheap and you and vacuum and wash the area. The Air Filter started showing at 6 years when it used to be @ 4 years / 40,000 miles. Surely should be checked every time & cleaned or replaced. Vacuum it, knock it a bit to clear out, or if dirty replace. I am surprised they are not saying the AC service is mandatory @ 2 years old. They are taking the Michael really.
-
Service Plan
They should be able to show you were in writing it is mandatory. From about 2010 Brake Fluid replacement showed as being at 2 year and each 2 years to first at 3 years and then each 2 years. In the past year it appears that people have been seeing or being told for some models like Mk4 Fabia & Octavia it is now again First @ 2 years then each 2 years. So the question is does not having the Brake fluid changed first at 2 years invalidate a manufacturers warranty on any brake component claim? Is testing of Brake Fluid @ 2 years for H2o content not sufficient? Maybe in the past over a decade VW Group know something new from when they changed their recommendations, guidelines, specifications or even schedule.

Battery Life
Apples and pears. I would expect a 2.0 TDI to possibly take more starting than a 1.6 TDI or even a 2.0 TSI. But you have location location location other than if Stop / Start is disabled which i think makes little difference. Winter length and low temperatures or not much of winters. Even though you do long trips how often a day is the vehicle started or run with a load on the battery, nights, days, lights on etc etc. The only way to know about how long a battery might last is with pretty much the same cars and batteries being used in the same way, so that might be Fleet, Taxi firms or the likes, but then there are still differences, those that sit idling or stop an engine because they are going no place.

Service Plan
If on Fixed / Annual Servicing than at 4 years if about 40,000 miles it should an 'Oil & Inspection Service and a Pollen Filter replaced.' Spark plugs changed if paying extra if not included in a plan. @ 5 years an Oil & Inspection Service & Extended Scope & unless included there would be the Brake Fluid change due. That is as far as Skoda UK Guidelines, recommendations on the websites they publish and dealerships seem to also show. A bit of pre or post winter servicing of brakes would really be in order, but then the Visual Inspections should maybe have the owner being advised of that and not just a advisory to replace discs and pads.

Service Plan
You know that not very much will be getting done by them then, but they might want plenty money to do not much. So just ask again what actually they have as a Schedule for servicing in the period of the lease. ? When do you have it till, year and km done?

Fabia mk3 2020 - break pads
I have 3 local Motor Factors, all long established. If they are supplying stuff to customers / garages then they do not supply crap and if you ask what their cheapest brake parts discs / pads are like they will tell you as they do not supply crap. Whatever they supply no matter how cheap will be superior to what the vehicle leaves the Skoda production line with.

DVLA inspection after write off repairs
Legally no, because the DfT / DVLSA could not give a monkeys about safety on UK roads, like the insurance companies that flog any old crap. The Insurers might ask that the car has a new MOT though, not that i have known them to.

Service Plan
All that a Skoda Main Dealer might do if you pay is there then. Just no servicing of the DSG required. (Cam belt was not at 50,000 miles / 5 years for your car anyway in Romania & now in the UK VW Group have dropped that recommendation.) Maybe best not use the Main Dealer and get a good garage that will service brakes and do servicing and preventative maintenance and not just tick off on a worksheet stuff.

Service Plan
Not much of a Service Plan or Schedule from Skoda or guidelines, recommendations or specifications. What engine and gearbox do you have? You can pay and check with erWin. But just go speak to the boss in the garage and ask why the staff are crap & unhelpful. This is Fixed Servicing intervals. DQ200 DSG,s have no servicing intervals.

SKODA Octavia - All failures coming up in the dashboard
Go to a local garage and ask them to check your battery. If the battery is requiring replacing get the Dealership Principal at the Skoda Garage to have the cost of the diagnosis refunded to you ad that can go towards buying the new battery. ? What is your car, is it a 1.6 TDI with a DSG or manual gearbox? How many miles has it done & how long have you owned it?

Spark Plugs - 1.5TSI Karoq
@croquemonsieurthe real con is that you will have paid the same to have 3 not that expensive spark plugs replaced as someone might to have 4 that cost more if done at a Skoda Main Dealer in the UK.
