  1. So maybe £ and not $, It makes all the difference where you can generate from solar during the day and sell it or have it stored in your batteries and use little in the home and then have Off peak tariffs and charge your car, charge the batteries, do you washing / cooking as use the oven on a timer during the off peak.
  2. How often the guy says Cold start without mentioning the ambient temp is just silly. @Stonekeeper It is already ridiculous how some parts of England get electricity cheap now. There is no way England is going to have energy security and low electricity prices unless the nonsense continues of how the Name National Grid and the Westminster government conspire with pricing and deals to import from overseas.
  3. The might be a Covid pandemic again. Every cloud has a silver lining. Millions die and road fuel in the UK is cheaper.
  4. @lol-lolthat is your electricity then and others maybe with the same as you. Someone paying £3 yesterday for 10 kWh and £2 70 today but with a few pence more of a daily charge has not even got a 10% drop. There are too many that are not aware of the cost to the many in this country.
  5. @StonekeeperWhy would you buy a hybrid just for the cheap running on electric near home.
  6. 30 pence a kWh going down to 27 pence is not a 20% drop. @lol-lol who is getting their electricity for 20% less?
  7. Thank goodness there are the likes of you not buying into EV driving if you are going to have to public charge because there is not the infrastructure to even cope with 10% of vehicle on UK roads needing to and 50% is never going to happen. Just keep on buying your diesel regardless of how much that gets to costing.. It will not be that much really and if it does get very expensive for private users then that's just how things go. Importing stuff is out of the control of the countries government anyway. The UK can not even be sure of keeping the refineries or cracking plants there are now.
  8. Now with a MINI I need to charge every 80 miles and I have done 2,000 miles in 7 weeks so lots of charging. The beauty is that if I get on a 11kW that is great. Or on a 7kW till a Rapid is available. Lots easier to get a charge than with my Corsa which was a PITA at times. But I have not spent more than £700 in charging as I had the best of 3 years. Edinburgh was 30 mins max charging so I charged at LIDL Broxburn. I have BP subscription so will have to charge at Hearthill occasionally as not enough range if Ingilston plays up. Highland region is ridiculous now at 70 pence a kWh and Aberdeenshire Nd Aberdeen at 47. This week I am charging free in South Ayrshire until heading home and needing to charge in Edinburgh..
  9. Hermiston Park and Ride had never worked for me with a Charge Place Scotland card and the App is crap. Since the BP Pulse chargers went in. I just tap a credit card. Same at the Airport park and ride on Friday. 55 pence a kWh. 3 goes to get it started and the BP Pulse guys were there doing a repair. Fort William is just crap. Always had been hit or miss.
  10. It needs to be visiting an Auto gearbox specialists that had experience of DQ200,s. Best not assume that all have.
  11. More likely to have been the chargers more than the car. No handshake. So were you starting them with the App or a Charge Place Scotland cars? Which locations? PS. I have 70,000 miles of charging experience in Scotland in different vehicles and taking a few attempts to start a charge is not unusual and as for CPS well SWARCO who run it the sooner they are out of it the better for everyone except them.
  12. Cheers, i did not even see it was a vid. So no idea about between D1 & S. On a Fabia from 2013 it might be a Flashing Spanner that appears on the Maxidot. Some DQ200,s built late 2012 - 2015 were part of a Recall Action with no recall so a Service Campaign. This was '34H5' and a software update as a preventative measure because of heat and pressure issues and leaking MCU. It might have been done and it might not and there might be a sticker in the spare tyre well if it was done. That would have a date, and 34h5 and a dealers stamp or name on it. The accuator can be the issue if there is an issue. There are repair kits. Anyway a diagnosis will need done if there is an issue, or if not just to know what is up with the display.
  13. Banks closed, post offices closed, libraries and community hubs closed, schools and doctor clinics closed, police stations closed. Rail & tube and bus strikes etc. At least with many building that will need demolished because of the materials they were constructed with there can be new buildings fit for purpose, maybe Community & learning hubs & sports facilities with health centers, police and emergency centers and banking / credit union hubs, food banks, constituency offices for councilors and MP's. Wind Turbines and Solar and battery storage and bike and e-Bike / cargo bike hire and car / van club facilities all on site. Dead easy to do if Councils and the Government want to do that and involve the banks, post office / royal mail, mail order / delivery firms and the Energy Companies. Actually places have done pretty much that in towns already, or partially done it.
  14. Welcome. Sorry no idea as i do not know that screen. Someone will be along hopefully that does know. ? What engine does it have, a petrol or diesel, do you know if it is a 1.2 TSI petrol or a 1.6 TDI dieesel? I see it is in D1 in that picture. Does the DSG change OK. In a 2013 Roomster i assume it is a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch gearbox. That is an Automatic as far as most are concerned, it is actually a Semi-Automatic according to VW Group.
  15. A mod can maybe move your post to the Octavia section.
  16. Used car asking prices are crazy. Luckily you do not always need to pay the asking price if a car is not selling at the sellers wish and a dream price. Enthusiasts forums can be a good place to watch for cars for sale or put up a wanted advert. Eg Briskoda.

Real life is getting on whatever charger you can for rapid or ultra rapid charging so what you got on a 100 or 150 kW charger is great but not what you get on a 50 kW. As to WLTP that is great if you can run your car in the way a WLTP regime does.
  18. Welcome. So that it is running and if running well that is good. Even with Skoda / VW having changed the Cam Belt recommendations and they are no longer @ 5 years or 50,000 or 60,000 or what ever this one should have been changed or will need to be changed. Has the oil services been every 20,000 miles or sooner, and history of spark plug changes 1,2 or 3 times? Are all the tyres good, brakes looking ok, windscreen not chipped? Personally i think i would swerve it, but maybe it will go on 'All night mister', and someone gets a good car. Doubt it though.

  20. Rishi Sunak used 'Blanket speed limit' in his spin. Wales used 'Default from 30 to 20 mph'. It has been a few years now that Local Authorities were supposed to set Speed Limits appropriate to the locations & that could be reduce from 30 mph or increase to 40 mph on outer limits of 30 mph restricted areas. Some Scottish Councils manged to do this. I would imagine others in the UK did as well. There is a thread on it in the General Automotive chat section. So the speeds do not have to be 20 mph, they defaulted to that unless the Council does a variation and keeps it as it was or does what they found by the 'official figures' required. Not that they all bothered their back ends even though the Councillors, the Civil Servants and the Road Department Employees drive, cycle or walk and live in that area or travel to work and meetings there and should damn well know where there are problems to address or solve.
  21. People who like the system because they have cars with the system surely can conceive many situations and far better than those that have not got the system but comment lots about it. When those with it drive it is odd if they do not come across all kinds of roads and road markings.
  22. Even if they did it is a visual inspection that matters. There are a lot of people that post on here with tyres down to the core. The thing is the car is theirs to be checking that they are safe the 51 weeks of even 103 weeks it does not go to a garage.
  23. @DrewmacIngram Skoda Ayr need to be pushing Skoda / VW because there must be a Safety Critical Recall here and they should be sure those that bought vehicles are driving safe ones before supplying new cars to others. VW / Skoda are very tight about splashing cash & getting in a timely manner the parts that they need to for vehicles they have already been paid for.
  24. The Government keeps paying money to car manufacturers and steel manufacturers to stay and provide jobs. They get in taxes and never anything like they are dishing out. They spend more keeping people employed than just paying them not to work, but they want TATA Steel and others as part of the UK,s Pyramid selling type economy. As with energy, oil & gas & electricity, utilities, water / sewage and all the rest they somehow can not be run to make a profit and pay a fair share in taxation on profits but manage to have their costs very very high with the best salaries for those at the top, lots and lots of wonderful lifestyles and even sponsoring some of the top sports people in the world or events as advertising for their amazing corporations that need hand outs all the time.
  25. Aberdeen can not keep theirs open with a fleet of wind turbines just off the beach and a city that is going all in with Green Hydrogen to power boats dock side . There is something far wrong when the find farms are not putting enough money back into the community but lots to land owners. There are community projects where the community invested and got part of the income. The Councils with the biggest cuts coming are really run by people that are not capable of running a car wash or window cleaning business where they would be the sole employee.
