  1. There are all flavours of EV,s and prices and it is horses for courses. If there are no suitable EV,s for a person's circumstance the have 7 years or more not to drive one. WLTP with EV,s or Hybrids of PHEV,s is more ridiculous than even it is with an pure ICE vehicle. There are many company car drivers and private individuals that know how much cash money they are better off with driving an EV and plenty more than do not.
  2. So now sitting at a hospital waiting on someone. Started with car showing 120 mile range. Left 30 mph limit and 20 miles average speed camera to hospital 20 miles away and 4.5 miles per kWh and sitting showing 125 mild range. That is not rural that was ok n the A77 and no traffic in front of behind. 88% battery showing on a 28.9 kWh usable battery. Real world.
  3. @Graham Butcher, You are wrong so try an EV. You can nip on, but not motorway speed or back road and Cruise Control. In some EV,s. The video is 4 longest range cars in UK tested. PS are you a regular 5 hour driving person? I am and did 60,000 miles in an EV with limited range. But when I was sitting charging and posting here there were Commercial Travellers / reps sitting doing their work or having a break next to me. 1,000 plus miles a week drivers.
  4. Ps. I did not request Matt Watson's vid. I requested the link to the Sun,s article on Matt Watson driving the cars.
  5. Getting WLTP type range certainly is not near impossible if you drive like a WLTP kidology regime does. Actually you can better the published figures. But then you would be going less than 50 miles in every hour probably and maybe even 40 miles in an hour. Matt Watson might start in the dark and it would be about 7 hours before being stuck in the middle of the night. But then seeing how late it gets dark if up north and how early it is light and then who really cares. Ps. I got better that the MINI Cooper S electric official figures last night. But I have discovered in 3 days that is achievable not in Mid, Green or Green +, with max regen but in Sport at NSL 60 mph and there abouts and not sparing the horses. Light regen and hardly ever lift off the accelerator..
  6. The car does not need to go for a Service to get the Service and Warranty history from Skoda. Ask a main dealership or Skoda Customer Services what is on the cars Service and Warranty history also if it required the Recall / Service campaign software update that some 1.5 TSI ACT got as part of a Full RECALL action.
  7. 11kW AC is not pretty standard. Even on 23 plate EV,s. The disabled driver yesterday who asked me why his new Citroen wheel chair accessible vehicle was getting 6 kW on the 22 kw charger. I told him because it had the 7 kW on board charger as the 11 kW had not been ordered.
  8. While charging i just read on my phone an article in The Sun that popped up. Published 13th August 2023. 'Jon Rogers' seems to be the journalist. Carwow's Matt Watson (that well known Motoring Journalist who,s videos get linked here often) driving 'in the dark' the cars with the longest claimed ranges. Seemingly he drove them until they ran out of energy and he had to call the breakdown services to help him out. Really .... If he had not his own recovery arranged then knock us down with a feather and slap him hard with a kipper.. 'He was trapped in the middle of the night'. Maybe someone could link this article because i am not trapped having charged during the night while driving and again now before having a wee sleep. There are a load of more articles, dealers closing, mechanics losing jobs, ICEd EV bays etc etc. Rupert Murdoch must not have invested into EV,s.
  9. Welcome. I see it is a 2018 car but I had to look at your profile to see that as on a phone that is the only way. How many miles has the car done? What engine has it, a 1.0, 1 5 or 2.0 TSI? When was it serviced last and were the spark plugs replaced? Was it bought from a private individual or a trader / dealer? Just now I can not see or hear videos but later will try to. I will flag your post for a mod to move it to the Octavia section .
  10. @brin23ukWelcome to the forum. Looking forward to hearing how the Fabia looks 18 years on.
  11. This morning starting charging at 43% and it is 14.5*c and just driven 200 yards to charger it took 35 minutes to 99% and showing 120 mile range. Charging with heating and heated seat and radio on. 18 kWh & FREE. 380 miles since new and so far paid £4.20 at home and 71 pence on a AC public and yesterday £5.97 on one of the DC chargers to charge 17 kWh. Happy with the car and comfort. Today I will try green mode as going up to some wind farms and onto some good driving roads. 'Dynamic traction control' is very good. The warning ⚠️ or just info comes up. "Dynamic traction control activated. Maximum traction on loose surfaces. Restricted driving stabilisation and driver assistance.". It is just on a toggle switch beside the 4 drive modes & the regen mode. No searching on a screen. The screen menu,s and selection is good though with I-drive or touch screen and no lag. Ps. Does not want to go to 100% which is fine as regen would be unavailable.
  12. 60 miles of fast driving 60 & 70 mph limits used 50%. Straight on a 50kw charger and in 40 minutes up to 99%. Only showing 98 miles range though. Pouring rain. Lights and AC on and in Sport.
  13. @lol-lolI will try it in the Cairngorms on long downhills and see if there is regen with coasting because really having to keep the accelerator pushed is just something i really dislike. Mid and green mod are ok if following traffic, but green + is horrible and like when you were on a dodgem and they were shutting them off or at an indoor kart track as they dropped you power. Traction Control off and a dry road and it really shifts. I have had a few starts using draggy but now the tyres are sticky i will do some standing starts on the flat.
  14. Charged to 100% for setting off early. Tyres scrubbed in and then increased a bit to 36 psi front and back. Happy with the car and getting used to it. It took hours getting settings right for me and quite a while during the hours of darkness with the interior lighting setting stuff that is just about stylee to off and keeping important settings on screens. Even the least regen setting was too much and the full regen ridiculous compared to anything i have drive including other electric MINI,s. I am used to nipping on and coasting and not coming to a halt so quickly. Now i have had it for a proper blast it actually works great without touching the brake pedal, but it does have the brake lights on lots, well at every deceleartion. I have charged 90% to 99/100% 5 times since getting it just to see how long it takes if needing to really have it full. Well it is 60 minutes pretty much on a 7 or 11 kW AC or a 43AC / 50 DC charger. Something only for doing if not hanging about waiting to get to.
  15. So far so good and collection went well with a very good sales lady. Corsa electric handed back at 3 years old and it really behaved this morning and went as well as it ever has. 18*oC and humid this morning. Actually did 4.5 miles a kWh for the 25 miles this morning into Dundee, then when i got there the keys fobs were not locking it but that was because put back to factory setting and just needed cycled a few times. Good condition payment coming my way from Motability for the Corsa. . The Sales exec set up on the MyMini app & phone etc & was really very knowledgeable. * The My MINI App & phone setup is great. lots of charging, pre heating & relevant stuff, clear and easy to use and read and fast. Vahxhall / Stellantis really need to sort out theirs.** So car home, rear floor and parcel self out and & stored away & the car is ready for a bit of a road trip this weekend. I did 40 miles with it and got 4.1 miles a kWh with it in Sport and low regen and AC on as it was about 22*oC. There is no room to sit behind my seat as i have it all the way back and down, so it could only be a 3 seater. In the boot was the 3 pin charger in bag. Heavy. (I have one that i will carry and is lighter.) (11kW AC type 2-type 2 missing and being posted out, but i have one so no problem.) Puncture repair pump. First aid kit. Load comprises, 2 folding directors chairs. Cooler box. Tackle Box with tools and stuff, torches, wind up radio, cb radio, deicer, gloves, hi-viz etc. (the stuff that normally goes in glovebox, arms rest, under seats and in door pockets. A storage box under 2 suitcases. Elbow Crutches 3 pin charger and space for type 2 to type 2 cable and soft bags. Front of the car pretty uncluttered. Instead of removing the Yellow E badge the Saltire sticker was a perfect fit on it. First Aid kit, Tyre kit and wheel tools under the 2nd false floor.
  16. @lol-lolthe old dottery guy in the USA just goes and kicks off trouble with China.
  17. http://bymiles.co.uk/insure/magazine/author/will-kerr http://bymiles.co.uk/insure/magazine/common-obd-error-codes-and-what-they-mean-for-your-car Big problem. Insurance companies and them selling write offs that go back on the road without a proper inspection, maybe a MOT maybe not. Then cars that are crashed and never any insurance claim made and repaired properly or not with parts from wherever. Cars that had Airbags deployed and might get a new one, or a used one, or one robbed from some poor sods cars. Seat belts that are not replaced, etc etc. Then there are the Air Bag recalls, well the not Recalled actually years after they should be. Then all the cars with out of date airbags that you will never know if they work until they do or do not. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513183-recall-takata-airbags-april-2023 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/511789-skoda-recall-fyi
  18. I would not buy a Space Saver, i would buy the size of Spare Steel Wheel & tyre that Skoda sell. Saves space, does not lift the floor. but not a SPACE SAVER. Slightly smaller wheel and taller tyre but near the same circumference. So an emergency spare and you will still need to go slower, or buy a full size wheel and tyre. And a tool kit & the insert for the car. In BRISKODA For Sales maybe, or Ebay or other sales sites. Just know the size you are looking for. What wheels / tyres are on your car??

Did the place say that after their close inspection your tyres are perfectly safe after managing to buckle the rims? What tyres are on the car and what size, and are the XL (reinforced sidewall.) ?
  20. Best not mess about trying resets or anything else. Be sure the dealership is recording your concerns incase you have a warranty claim coming up. Maybe go fill the tank with E5, Tesco Momentum 99 or Sainsbury Super Unleaded 97 ron (min) and see if you notice any difference.
  21. @CrucianAre you going to get that Ballast off the crash bar and help the cars handling and traction at the front under acceleration. Not on the Polo GTI , Ibiza or A1 Twinchargers. The Polo GTI gets the battery in the boot. It is there to make the car heavier than the Sister Cars because they are more expensive so had to look as though quicker and to give it a Kerb Weight officially as heavier than the 9 3/4" longer Fabia vRS Estate. VW Kidology. The sister cars are on 215/40 R 17,s with no spare as standard and the Skoda,s are on 205/40 R 17 and get a spare and tool kit as standard. Another 20 Kg in the rear. Ballast not required on the rear of a Mk2 Fabia Monte Carlo 1.6 TDI CR with the same springs. Cost them plenty to manufacture and materials, and put the Fabia Hatch vRS a VED band higher than it needed to be. Every manufacturer were making cars lighter. less paint, less insulation, thinner glass and Skoda / VW took the pith. Lazy journalists never thought, WTF and lets get them on a weigh bridge or corner scales and ask Skoda or VW why they sandbagged the hatch.
  22. Soft compound / sport orientated tyres might well be safer in the wet and dry than ECO bias tyres that are for fuel economy but are giving less grip / friction / handling. @Carlstoncan maybe list you tyres of different types in the not very comfortable size you have. ? What tyres are on now?
  23. Welcome to the forum. I did a Google search to see what was what now to see if i could see the current situation and much that comes up is the company adverts and sponsored stuff. Still none the wiser really from Gov UK sites. http://theecoexperts.co.uk/electric-vehicles/grants-for-charging-points
  24. 'Germany spends big to win 11 billion dollar TSMC chip plant'. (Not French fries.) Simply clever of them. Now they just need Energy Security without having to burn fossil fuels to keep their lights on. A deal with Vladimir Putin & Viktor Orban might just do that.

Lane Keep Assist or similar by whatever name can be disabled and there is no Law to stop it being done. The law is coming in on it must be Factory standard and that is for new type approved cars and the VW Group vehicles are not 'New'. The next models Type Approved will be. PS. No lane keep assist on my July 2023 MINI and I kind of miss it as it was very good on the 2020 Corsa. Never needed switching off even on roads with snow, or ploughed / gritted.
