  1. The simple petrol engines being used by some manufacturers to have their Euro 6 mild hybrids might well be good for a decade or 3. There are some very efficient ones out there and not great complexity, even the gearboxes. We will see how well the smaller capacity Cylinder deactivation engines (ACT / COD) do from a decade or more use as it was 2012 that VW launched theirs. As to DQ381 DSG's and 80,000 mile service intervals, that is not going so well.
  2. Welcome to the forum. What model / trim of Mk2 Fabia is it. What engine size, & petrol / TSI or something else, or diesel and a TDI, 1.2 or 1.6? What gearbox. Manual or DSG? Is there much in the way of servicing history with the car? How do the past MOT,s and the most recent look and any advisories?
  3. Grant Shapps MP says the Government will not be having a price guarantee on energy this winter. We will see. He is talking of Tax Cuts. Well tax on Electricity for transportation getting cut for public charging is needed, not just business users getting VAT back. VW need to get on and actually have for sale the VW ID2 and the very low prices they keep spinning.
  4. & as well as XDS there is some with XDS+. (Mk2 Fabia vRS Twincharger / Polo GTI Twincharger has XDS, Polo GTI 1.8 TSI got XDS+)
  5. @wyx087I have just done 60,000 miles in the 3 years and that is with all season or winter tyres fitted and it is pretty much 3.1 miles per kWh that the car has done. They are not EV only cars and i am not doing local miles much at 30 mph so it is at 60 or 70 mph speed limits and pretty much averaging 50-55 mph on journeys. Real world in a different location and in different weathers / temperatures and still under £1,200 spent on public charging and £30 on a 3 pin charger.
  6. @wyx087The weather oop north is not the same as London,s & neither are the roads. 4 miles per kWh or a bit more might be around town efficiency and speeds below 50 mph but up hill and down dale and crossing the Cairngorms on old military roads or just up and down dual carriageways are a bit different.
  7. Just got a delivery of my KISS low tech device for making sure i do not overstay on chargers and i am ready every 15 minutes to restart charging @ Tesco PodPoints where an hour on them can save my £3. Pick up my new MINI on Thursday and off on an up to 10 charging session road trip on a route with 50 kW chargers that are free to use. I will use 11 kW AC chargers if needs must.
  8. Make sure you get an Extended Warranty with Skoda / VW for the best price you can and maybe that will be the All in one. They have a Warranty on the car but they should have had a Haldex Service carried out if no record of it. Is there a record of the Haldex having been serviced. I would be asking Skoda UK or a dealer for the full Service & Warranty History. Maybe some proper servicing and maintenance needs doing. Is it a 1.5 TSI, DSG or something else? I suggest that it might have a Full Main Dealer Service history but not a history of serviced to the manufacturers guidelines, recommendations, specification or schedule if there is no record of the extras. Oil, filter and inspection services year one and 2 were correct then year 3 should be the Extended Service. 'Multi point check' of a used car might well mean no servicing was carried out since the 'Oil change service was done in the previous August'. They would say no servicing due, maybe they topped up the oil and coolant and inflated the tyres, but no guarantee even that gets done at a MPC. Look the air filter and see if clean. Best look at the pollen filter and see how that looks.
  9. @wyx087I am driving my young lads BMW 520 estate just now and with about 100 mile range on it the other day i put in £89 of Gulf Super diesel. That had the range showing 635 miles. I did 340 miles of a trip with just 2 stops, one at where i was delivering to and 1 for an ice cream and that had it showing 425 miles range left when i got home. I have 340 miles to go again on Sunday but i will put some more go go juice before then and hand it back with fuel in. The car is comfy but not as comfy as the Corsa is for me, but i needed to carry lots and to do 340 miles at the speeds i was at on the roads i was i need to use, in the Corsa i would have needed 2 charges at least and in the north east of Scotland that in not a guarantee of getting on a rapid charger. About a 90 minute longer day as a minimum. Crap charging possibilities after Aberdeen & up to he Moray Firth, along it to Nairn and back across country by Grantown on Spey, Tomintoul, Ballater, Edzell etc. 340 miles getting 3 miles per kWh and if paying 47 pence a kWh is £53. times 2 for 680 miles £106. Over 50 pence a kWh public charging for those having to pay that and there are a lot of EV,s that are not making financial sense if just a private owner and not a business user.
  10. Mahle filter £6 or less at you local motor factors. 4 litres of 5w 30 FS III at Asda or Tesco £20 quite often as they use it to undercut each other almost daily.
  11. If it was an issue with the Passat for 20 years and you never found a solution is it likely now there is one? Probably it is people the same height as you with the seat in the same position and the steering wheel that would have the same thing.
  12. You are looking for it to VW504 00 / 507 00 2,000 miles a year would have me using VW502 00 and changing it annually. Nothing special with VW 504 00 / 507 00 & long life oil IMO.
  13. @OBRhave you had a look in the Air Filter box recently? Bullet proof engines as long as they never got 'The fix' done so the engine management changed and the airflow device addition.
  14. Welcome. What engine & gearbox has it? What servicing was done in 2020, or 2021 / 2022, Has it had much carried out at 3 years old and to the manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines, Specification or Schedule. ? Has the Haldex been serviced already? Has the brake fluid been changed? Has it had the pollen filter changed twice already? Was all Service items done up to date for you buying it in February & what service is it due soon, @ how many miles? Looking at the many posts including recent ones on Briskoda about 'Skoda All in' might be an idea. Kodiaq Section, Karoq section and others.
  15. @Vladoswhen asking about GPF / OPF then 'your country' is relevant, so are you in the EU / Europe & not Australia or someplace around the world where the year can make a difference if there is a GPF fitted.
  16. @VladosWhat is your issue regarding a DPF, is it because you want to remap etc, or the life of a GPF and replacement cost?
  17. Not everyone has a Tesla and cold weather need not be extreme to have people needing to plan to get places and back and charging and not a load of time charging.
  18. Early build 2018 might not have a GPF but really i do not know. Build date might matter more than First Registration date. Hopefully others here with the cars know.
  19. Scotland fastest EV charging hub is getting built near Myrekirk road. / Skoda Dealership. Edinburgh City charging is pathetic & now 55 pence a kWh. For me a Petrol or Diesel is cheaper than public charging there. Aberdeenshire 47 pence a kWh on 50 kW rapids, again over priced, Angus not much better @ 42 pence a kWh. Just now it is Perthshire or Stirling i use most still @ 35 pence a kWh or free still in parts of Ayrshire.
  20. @OvvI would not concern yourself about a heat pump if you are charging at home and not doing hundreds of miles regularly away from Dundee in winter. Youtube Vids by a Briskoda member might interest you. Enyaq Gorm Plenty localish stuff.
  21. @MarcS Do not keep driving it if the diesel is diluting the oil, which it has to be since the car is not an oil rig and bring oil out of the ground. .............. If it was a TSI / petrol & the oil is being diluted you can sniff the dipstick and smell the petrol. You can remove the dipstick away from the car and hold a flame near it and the petrol in the oil will ignite.
  22. @SandgroperIt has a Chain if a 1.2 TSI. The belt 1.2 TSI is introduced in the Fabia Mk3 from 2014 until those were dropped and they got the 1.0 TSI with a cam belt.
  23. The recommended oil for pre 2018 / pre GPF is VW504 00 / 507 00, so 5w 30 FS III. (Some might go with 0w 30 FS III) That is for fixed or variable servicing. **It is not VW508 00 / 509 so 0w 20 FS IV)** VW502 00 is perfect for fixed Service, oil & filter changes. 5 w 40 Full Synthetic. ....................... Not Backward compatible. Says 2015 on but Skoda / VW never starting using it from the factory until 2017/18.
  24. Skoda had the wrong kerb weight for MK2 Fabia vRS when launched and had ballast added to the rear crash bar of the vRS. They had it as heavier than a MK2 Fabia Monte Carlo 1.6 TDI manual which is near to the OP car. Option springs for the vRS or Monte Carlo were Eibach and fitted at the PDI and not at the factory. Maybe check out what they were on the Hatch Fabia. That comes as 1.2 TSI manual or TDI manual. Or 1.4 TSI DSG with added ballast on rear.
  25. MY19 are built from after the summer holiday factory break in 2018 are they not. So June / July 2018 and on. Were the GPF,s not fitted in time for the WLTP certification coming in and delays on deliveries because of not Certificated early as other manufacturers had done?
