Free EV charging @ Tesco Stores ends 1st November 2022 and price increases on 22 / 50 kW chargers.
No idea if first 15 minutes on the 7kW is to stay free but I am plugged in and it is charging and I have not claimed on the PodPoint App.

2019 Mk3 Sudden High Idle Problem
? How many miles has you 2019 1.0TSI done? Remember that the important thing is being off the accelerator once the engine, cat, gpf is up to temperature. It is not the same as a DPF. Then, Yours is not blocked, you are getting the high idle as the car does what is required to ensure it does not block.

2019 Mk3 Sudden High Idle Problem
I will link the thread when i can with the links on the GPF,s they work at a very high temp. For now just use the car, your GPF is not choked. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/473535-fitmant-of-gasoline-particulate-filter-gpf-to-fabia-mk-iii This just turned to the usual argument. That will be my fault. Time will tell.... http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/466946-got-my-fabia

2019 Mk3 Sudden High Idle Problem
The GPF might just be the issue. It is a matter of time before posts on these will become more common. People will be asking at dealerships and employees will have not a clue. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/479195-car-behaving-strangely GPF fitted from 2018. Plenty threads in this section about them when they were coming in. They need dealt with differently from DPF. Dealerships not showing prices for replacements yet but that time will come for some.

Used Car Prices
@Aspman What EV does your neighbour have? I think your neighbour can not do his maths or knows what electricity / public chargers are costing. Is he an accountant??? No idea what his idea of cheap rate electric is that he is using. Those with off peak consider cheap as less than 10 pence a kWh. Normal tariff is 30 pence or less. Maybe 34 pence now on the new tariff. *** So 60 x 34 pence = £20.40. 60 kWh getting 3.5 miles per kWh will take you 210 miles. if getting 4 miles a kWh then 240 miles.*** If his car has a 60 kWh battery he would be paying 50 pence a kWh for it to cost him £30 to charge full to empty. On a 28 pence standard tariff it would be £16.80. That is the tariff from tomorrow @ TESCO for 7 kW charging, 22kw Charging will be 40 pence & 50 kW will be 50 pence, I will start using Angus council chargers @ 23 pence a kWh, that would be £13.80 for a 60 kWh battery charge, For my 40 kWh that will be £9.20 for about 120-130 miles. Because my car is not efficient. Or my driving is not. Edinburgh City Council Public charging is 35 pence a kWh. Perth & Kinross is going to be 30 pence next year. East Lothian. Wallyford is 30 pence a kWh now. 60 kWh @ 30 pence a kWh would cost him £18. If he gets 3 miles per kWh that would be 180 miles for £18. if he gets 3.5 miles that is 210 miles. ..................... This is what i paid at Tesco / Lidl PodPoints since last November & what i paid at Charge Place Scotland chargers this year. No home charging done. ................... Bottom, from another thread when i had an efficient diesel courtesy car.

Used Car Prices
Lots if vehicles that traders and dealers have for sale were bought using borrowed money / finance, especially ones from auctions. At some point if the interest rises they have to cut their losses or just cut their profits and sell the vehicle.

Hello - Octavia VRS
Maybe 'Simply Clever' to keep a good ice scraper in the car, and winter time a flask of hot water for when the fuel filler flap freezes closed.
-
Hello - Octavia VRS
Welcome. Lovely. Were you told at the hand over they have now decided that you will now not get an Engine Cover fitted later once they have sorted the design and fitment? Those that had the Engine Covers removed because of an official DVLA Safety Recall are to be getting new engine covers.

Skoda Afriq, designed and built by students. Videos.

Winter roads, ice, snow and wet or dry driving in an EV..
New tyres on the front of my Corsa for this winter. The Michelin Alpin 6 on the front were down to 2 mm after 35,000 miles / 25 months. They were due a change. And this week they got a bulge in a sidewall & cuts from a big pothole and ironworks. The rears are fine and still have 5mm of tread. New Riken have 9mm from new. I will see how well these perform in the dry, wet once they have the newness off them and soon in the snow. Riken is a Michelin owned manufacturer.

THE Winter Tyres Thread
I needed to replace my Michelin Alpin 6 on the front of my Corsa electric after getting a bulge from a hard hit on a pothole. Also a few cuts on the sidewall. Down to 2mm. So were coming off anyway before any snow. I had ordered BG Goodrich G-Force Winter 2 but they were not available so I have Riken Snow tyres instead on. Much meatier tread. 9mm now as new. Tyres half the price of the Aplin 6 and from a manufacturer Michelin own. Still a pair of Alpin 6 on the rear with wear after 32,000 miles in 2 years. Now @ 5mm. I will see how the Riken are in the wet later and in the dry when the newness is off. In the snow in maybe a couple of weeks time.

Anyone able to check for tsb for me?
@Jason Smith Is this your Superb? What engine, so which DSG do you have?

ETKA for fabia mk4
OK. Someone here might be able to help point you in the right direction. I have never called a Parts desk, only called in to look at the screen with them. Simple stuff or more involved could simply get asked here and simple folk or more clued might help you out.

ETKA for fabia mk4
No idea, but why not ask the Parts Desk person and if they are not helpful ask them to go get someone that is. That is actually the job they are there to do. Find the correct part, order or go get the part.

Tyre Replacement Options
The forum has a tyre section and armchair experts or just members discuss stuff. They give opinions, experiences and anecdotal accounts. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/493035-at-what-tread-depth-do-you-change-your-tyres Near or at the legal limit in the UK really is a low tread with a Summer /Eco tyres IMO. Far too low for a All Season, Winter or snow tyre IMO. But then everyone is welcome to do what ever and run what ever. You do your research, you get the tyres, then you find out if the manufacturers marketing is a load of guff.

Tyres any recommendations
Regardless of Michelin manufacturing tyres in China which might well be to a higher quality control standard than anything made in Europe or anyplace, the ones with cracks in the sidewalls were maybe made in Dundee in Scotland where Michelin no longer have a factory.

Tyre Replacement Options
I read the articles. And use Michelin's. Winter or all season that supposedly are still good to lower tread depths. What a load of sales guff lots of it is. You need not be an expert to know when tyres are performing poorly .

Fuel usage
Odd. I take it you use E10 petrol. Maybe stick in a tank of E5 99 Ron for the sake of under £3 extra it costs since you are up on how much range you get. Even if you get no more miles you are getting some detergent as well as the higher Octane. Are the spark plugs all good and replaced sometime in the past 4 years? Is the air filter clean and dry,? Brakes serviced, tyre pressures set for winter and just keep paying attention on brim to brimming.

New tyres on the 4x4 superb
So you go backwards into a ditch, wall or what ever rather than sliding straight on into the wall, fence, building or what other as you have no frition, traction, braking or steering as you try steering into a skid. You have no rear control if you lose front control. Fit good tyres all round. All these driving god's out there!

Domestic charging points - A new social dividing line?
Next Sunday morning I will be looking to see if the 7kW chargers at Tesco are all occupied by EV,s or Hybrids that have been parked up all night and still occupying the chargers in the morning. I will now be charging at Council chargers when around and about home and at 23 pence a kWh rather than 28 pence at Tesco or about this same at home. I take it the local chargers will get busy again as they have not had the same use since the council started charging last November. Come the new year I will not be using council chargers in Perth and Kinross as I do now if there cost is higher than in Angus. Cost here is liable to increase though to the point of being much a muchness. I full appreciate how much free charging at Tesco & CPS chargers has saved me since last November. I have spent only £21.54 using the 50kW Podpoints.

Maintenance list to keep car long time
No idea on your gearbox oil. That was wasted money replacing the water pump on a 1.0 TSI when the timing belt was changed. ? Was that the advice you got, & how much did that job cost you?
-
Maintenance list to keep car long time
You only need to replace discs and pads as required. So only time will tell how often that is. *Service brakes, pre or post winter or both, strip, clean and grease as preventative servicing, if maintaining a car is a hobby and past time then your time spent might be cheaper than buying parts that are not required if preventive maintenance is dine.* Your time is likely cheaper than paying for other peoples time. 1.0TSI Timing belt changes needs the correct gear and more than just ideas. Not a DIY job, unless you are a good DIY'er. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/507324-10-tsi-cam-belt-change http://www.mechanexpert.com/timing-belt-replacement-on-mk7-golf-1-0-tsi PS At some point Ignition coils / coil may need replaced. Not letting spark plugs go too long between being replaced to the point they shorten the life of coils can be an expense saver. Checking and cleaning an air filter can save fuel, so money, and do not replace air filter if a shake and vacuum can extend the life. Same with a Pollen filter, remove it, check it is dry and not smelly, vaccum it, blow it through, clean the area. These things are not expensive to replace, but are free to check & replace only as needed. Mony a mickle maks a muckle over 15 years.
