Superb break discs
I think Skoda should help with the cost. Sometimes they do, but not much these days. The Dealership made a nice profit selling the car to you. Ask for that £65 back as they conned you. Ask the Dealer Principal WTF their employee was playing at calling you and then the Technician doing the Brake Fluid change. It was a Demonstrator / Ex Management car, so the brakes will have been well used. Never raced, rallied or thrashed. much.

DSG hesitation - just me?
@Paul211075There was indeed a Software Update and it was a DVLA Safety Critical recall. Check with Skoda or a main dealership if there has been another 'Recall Action' or update available. *** Make sure you are reporting to a Main Dealership & Skoda UK that the car is behaving as it is. there might still be issues needing addressed, but they can say, 'never heard anyone complaining, we dealt with the issues with the Recall.*** How many miles on the car now? Maybe time for a spark plug replacement.

@kentdale If it has not had an Oil and filter change done so far the car is going to have to be in again in the next 6,000 - 8,000 miles for that.

1.0 TSI turbo actuator fault
@MikeStoner Did the person on the phone at the dealership not explain that Fixed Priced Servicing and Maintenance at Participation dealers means that the first 30 minutes of a Diagnostics is £60 including VAT. That might be all the time the diagnostics takes.

Best way to clear out lots of junk/food/debris between car seats on Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo 2012
Finding those plastic straws is the next job since they became banned and went all paper / soggy. Maybe someone has some about that they could not figure how to dispose of differently from how they were going to dispose of them as used ones.

Need new front brakes/pads Question?
The first thing anyone thinking they might replace parts them self should maybe do is look at the parts someone else said needs replacing. @Ozisa Did the brakes need any replacements or just some servicing / maintenance and have you done that?

Make a pointy / narrower thing to fit to the end of the hose or the plastic bit you have on the vacuum cleaner to sook stuff up. From Cardboard. Maybe stronger card than this looks.

UK Public Charger Network & price increases as they are announced. Please post here as you become aware of any changes in the costs.
I have yet to meet anyone at the Tesco 7 kW chargers that are aware on having to pay from the 1st November to use the 7kW chargers. Those i have told have all said they will use the council chargers or just charge at home as they have a low tariff. Mony a mickle maks a muckle. They say Aberdonians have long pockets and short arms, but Fly Fifers & Loons and Quines from Tayside have the edge on them.

@kentdale Was it a Skoda Approved Used car you bought and got Free Servicing with? As in 2 years free servicing! Then they want to charge extras when they get the car in at Fixed Service Intervals.

Has your car had n Oil & Filter change? If over 1 year old and not then it must be on Variable / Flexible Servicing. 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months. So due the first Oil & Filter Service in a years time, 2023, and the brake fluid was due at 3 years from new. They were 'Upselling' and making calls and giving duff gen as is common. So wrongly told your brake fluid change at 1 or 2 years since you have not got an Enyaq. Surprising the idiot that called never said you needed a cam belt changed. Service Schedules, Recommendations are down the pages. http://skoda.co.uk/owners/servicing-maintenance-fixed-price

@kentdale ? Why were you getting that Brake Fluid change, who told you that was needed. ? How much was the Service? ? Is the Master Tech supporting a Warranty Claim on brakes, or are they saying, fair wear and tear, environmental conditions, salt on roads, light use of brakes. Not unduly corroded. Car low miles, low use! *Brakes being serviced is a thing, just not one Main Dealers do. Striping, greasing, making sure the pads contact the discs and release and are working correctly.* Just replacing discs and pads becomes a crazy expense if replacing with equally as rubbish discs. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Discs can be bad in not a long period as i know because at 26 months my Motability car got new rear discs. Serviced at Arnold Clark and a Health Check Video sent to me, saying i needed new rear discs and front brakes stripped and cleaned. Their error being it is owned by Motability and i called and said get that approved by Motability and get on with it. They replied Motability would not approve that. I replied, bog off, you were telling me what was needed thinking i was the idiot paying, if the brakes were not right i was leaving the car and Motability were getting it handed back. so i got the new discs. ............ Last years Fixed Priced Servicing and maintenance prices and recommendations. Cars 3-10 years on Fixed Servicing though. DSG servicing not by year and some are at 80,000 not 40,000 and DQ200's have no service interval / guidelines / schedule / recommendations.

@MrRich Where in the country is your Franchised Dealer so that others can maybe benefit from using them? Have you posted in the Dealers Reviews to share your experience of them with others? EDIT. I see you have posted, who did you end up using for your servicing if you have had it serviced since last year? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/498534-servicing-franchise-dealer-or-independent-north-west-location Everyone's experience at Main Dealers should be wonderful as you are paying a premium price / hourly rate for them to work on your car. Sadly the person you deal with at the Service Desk who might have some knowledge or might not and might be trained and might not is the issue. Service Desk Managers are not likely to have any qualifications or training as a Mechanical Technician or Mechanical Engineer, and this can be the issue. Telling people brake discs or pads are 80% worn when they are not even 20% worn is common. If asked what the original thickness is and them having no idea actually shows that at a service it can be pick a number any number. Up-selling is the aim & the game.

Folding mirrors and oil consumption
Welcome. If a change of oil suits you then good, but the issue is likely greater than that can resolve. Shorter Oil & Filter change intervals than fixed servicing should make no difference, if you are putting in oil regularly to top up you are refreshing the oil lots within each year / 15,000 km. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/266114-18tsi-and-20tsi-engine-failures/page/75

Octavia iV Estate - flat 12v battery
@Jim2015Why are you not having your faulty car fixed while under warranty?
-
Engine coolant suddenly taking long time to reach 90 degrees
@rangor_ghas your car a DSG, so the issue could be the 2nd thermostat / regulator. Next to the DSG Oil Cooler.

All Season Tyres....
@Carlston Are you driving elsewhere than in the UK then or are you just a metric person? You can find similar from companies that VW partner with to get the Fleet Average C02 to save them being imposed penalties. They come as cars / taxis and vans. Not quite that range yet from them, but they will get there. But they will be heavy. They will come with tyres that will have pathetic grip / traction from reduced friction on anything other than dry / warm roads. Not necessarily narrow tyres, they might even be staggered if rear wheel drive. The tech is tried and tested the batteries just need more development.

GPS warning stickers
Even 10 year old car thieves know which cars have immobilisers and that will be just about every car on the road they want unless a classic. Car crime is a big story in Scotland today. The police actions so poor and theft so easy, that is high value cars and low value cars, car thief's take anything. Stickers are as worth as Snickers. If you want a deterrent drive a Skoda, just not a Fabia Mk1 or Classic, mabye an Octavia Mk1 because they like them. Saying that, Police Scotland have improved their recovery statistics. Skoda & Audi.... http://edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinburgh-news/edinburgh-police-recover-two-stolen-25335025

Battery drainage
Sorry no idea but my pure guess is that the battery was starting at 6 year old to be getting towards needing replaces and now at 8 years it will do as it will let you down when the cold weather comes in. An adult that knows electricery will be along. To me it is all magic.

All Season Tyres....
People driving UK roads with corners and bends are in 60 MPH speed limits and just follow others or keep up with traffic. *There are Motoways and Dual Carriageways with bends in them where a 70 mph limit comes down to a restricted 50 mph. in Scotland anyway.* Drivers have no idea what the cars / vans in front or behind have fitted, performance /sport tyres, or eco, all season, winter, bald with the core showing. Drivers often have no idea what tyres they are driving have. (eg Skoda Superb's being common for this.) http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/507858-car-wheel-alignment Thankfully some do catch tyres wearing early and not just when a car is serviced or in for a MOT. These UK roads are mostly the same roads as we have driven for 50 plus years and back then on crap tyres often and the cars were maybe only 45 bhp and up and we did the same speeds in the corners. Lots here have driven from young on narrow tyres, FWD or RWD or AWD, and fatter tyres, crap tyres and good tyres and company cars with what ever they get on them. Police & Emergency Services also get given what ever to drive on, often that is ECO tyres, Summer Tyres to drive in all seasons of the UK. Car insurance can be more expensive for a sporty, car thief magnet or for city dwellers. or certain jobs, ages etc. Lots of us pay almost nothing in Insurance these days regardless of what we drive, power, tyres etc. Even paying less for new cars compared to old. @CarlstonWhat car do you drive, and is this in the UK?

Superb break discs
The Brake Fluid change is first at 3 years then each 2. The brake fluid could be tested at 2 years, or 3 or 4 for H2o content and not changed if not required. Do not pay to have it changed at 2 years unless tested and requiring a change, which is very unlikely. @kentdale How much are they charging you for an Oil & Filter Service and then the only extra due which is a Pollen / Cabin filter which is a ridiculous £35 according to the Skoda Fixed Price Servicing and maintenance. Extended Scope is @ 3 years then each 2 years.

Power steering fluid change ?
@Crucian IMO leave it as it is, just as many vRS 4 years older than yours will have been left untouched. ? Have you even had a look at the fluid and the level?

End of the Fiesta
The Low Compression engines Fiesta's were pretty common in 1976 / 77 when i was working on the petrol pumps when not prepping cars for delivery and those company car drivers were limited to what star of leaded petrol they could get on their 'Shell card'. First Registrations / Sales were high for Fiesta and Corsa as they have been now due to many being bought by Motability, and many more bought by Ford & Vauxhall and then sold used / pre reg, and leased / loaned out for maybe only a matter of months before being sold pre-loved. Lots of Fiesta's into the UK were from the Channel Isles. Supposedly 'Hire Cars', many came to Scotland still with the interior in Plastic & cars as new but 'Clocked up' because 'Delivery miles only would have had the Inland Revenue all over them. These sold at various places including the biggest car dealerships. Good value nearly new and on the never never.

New tyres on the 4x4 superb
Indeed. People not only need to know what there tyres are, but pressures are as air / ground temps change through seasons and even day to night.

New tyres on the 4x4 superb
^^^ That is just Air Temperatures. Road surface temperatures are what matters really and over 40*oC is not unusual, and that can be above 50*oC even in the UK. Then maybe down around -10*oC even if the air temp is at -5*oC. So lower than that in some areas. That is a range of 60 Degrees C.
