Turbo / Supercharger upgrade
Mercedes must be able to deal with tricky. http://www.hotcars.com/mercedes-amg-sl43-electric-exhaust-gas-turbocharger They can check out 1 million of the vehicles that they have just done a recall on for corrosion of the brake booster. Vorsprung Durch Technik as their competition said.

Chromebook?
I have 3 Chromebooks and 2 have just told me after a few months of warnings that they have now had their last 'Automatic software and security updates' "To get future updates, upgrade to a newer model." So that is that then. I will soldier on and see when things go t!ts up if they do.

900 miles to a tank?
When you change the oil next maybe go for 0w 30 FS III, Still VW504 00 / 507 00, but not 5w 30 FS III. But do not use VW 508 00 / 509 00, 0w 20 FS IV. Remember your E10 95 ron is 95 Octane MINIMUM, as is E5 97 ron (min) & 99 ron (min) and not all the same formulation around the UK with your Texaco or ESSO 99. (Minimum) Then the Winter formulation starting first oop north in Oct / Nov might be as it came into the UK and could be 100 ron plus.

900 miles to a tank?
http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/453741-700-mile-tank-range-citigo http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/335047-so-what-is-the-best-,ilage-out-of-a-tank-anyone-has-got-rapid-is-best-skoda-4-this/page/4 @CY67 To save others doing the maths how many litres is that you are using? So how many litres in the 45 litres tank or when you refuel how many litres to brim it again. Are you venting it? PS Not sure a grill block is the smartest of idea if the weather continues warming up nicely as it is now for the rest of the summer. Coolant & oil as a coolant works best at the temps that it does and in warmer weather the airflow does it's job. Cooling oil uses up energy. Hypermiling works rather well with Turbo engines at not too high ambient temperatures and the cooler road surfaces when it is not very sunny helps with the tyres and rolling along using less fuel. The Hypermiler website has good tips. #No.1 tip is do not drive just for the sake of driving. http://www.hypermiler.co.uk/hypermiling/hypermiling-techniques PS I am using the Hypermiling experience i have gained over the decades in EV's now, but i am using electricity i get for free and that means the world is my Oyster while there is Free EV Chargers around, so mostly then it is Scotland that is my Oyster.

Mercedes recall on some older cars with a possible brake issue
There has been a BMW Recall on Coolant Leaks running for years now and being a Voluntary Recall so just a Service Campaign there are many Series 3 Diesels that have never had it carried out. This 'Safety Critical' recall is because of a risk of fire. There are Lease cars about that the 'Driver' does not get to know about these because they are not the Keeper so do not get a letter, then there are cars that go in for Service work and the 'RECALLS' Action is not carried out.

EV real world range and cost to charge
BMW are managing it so much better than the VW Group who were too slow getting the tech right and have had to use the likes of MG Motors to assist them getting the emissions target. http://www.thedriven.io/2021/12/14/nio-and-xpeng-join-carbon-pool-to-help-vw-meet-eu-emissions-target BMW are shifting lots of hybrids and EV's and 3 cylinder petrols (diesels 3 cylinder retired...EDIT) http://www.onlineev.com/bmw-beats-eu-co2-emissions-target-boosted-by-higher-ev-demand

EV real world range and cost to charge
@Lady Elanore Manufacturers of cars for the EU & UK are having to prioritise EV's and Electrified ICE vehicles because they have to meet the Average Co2 Emissions. They have to control how many higher emission cars are delivered and First Registered. They are partnering and trying every trick in the book to make sure they are not penalised for not meeting the required average emissions. The difficulty is the Battery shortages, chips, looms etc and the materials required to build batteries so using the materials to have Hybrid Batteries are badly affecting the numbers they can get first registered. http://cnbc.com/2022/05/24/stellantis-ceo-warns-of-ev-battery-shortage-lack-of-raw-materials.html

Rear brake discs - typical lifespan?
@P55REYDid you actually pay that and get new rear discs and pads fitted. Did the Master Tech and Dealership Warranty manager actually have the warped / distortion of the discs measured and not support the replacement under warranty? Personally i think someone was at it and the discs were not warped, but if they were that is down to a manufacturing / material fault.

@ziceWhat country are you in, and how many km do you do daily or weekly?

cleaning great fuel injector
VW group branded fuel additives are available. But then VW are are in it to make money and are not a charity.

Mercedes recall on some older cars with a possible brake issue
Tough luck today on those with the cars possibly with the issue that are told not to drive the cars until they are inspected. Mercedes will be sending out lots of techs or recovery trucks then. Or owners might just ignore such advice. Anyone wanting the details should find them easily in the many media articles online. Corrosion under rubber cover at brake booster it looks like being. This looks like another expensive recall for Mercedes. Maybe even an upselling opportunity for Dealerships.

Miles instead of kilometers
Plenty brand new cars in the UK with digital speedometers do not display MPH and at the same time KMPH. They can if y ou chose that display, and can be changed to show one or another as per Construction and use might require but driving in the UK there is no law requiring a driver to see what KMPH the vehicle is doing.

EV real world range and cost to charge
If she has bought the wrong car she can probably get rid of it easily without losing money and buy something else that dealers are sitting with that are not that much in demand due to fuel prices.

Stop Start
It is not wrecking air quality having the engine stopped when not needed and restarting when it is needed so it will be helping. There are now different systems in vehicles to have it done more efficiently and it has not been wrecking starters and when good batteries have been used by manufacturers it has not wrecked batteries. There are mild hybrid systems where the car moves off using electric and not the ICE firing up when stationary. Where there has been euro / penny /cent / dollar pinching with starter batteries there have been issues. @HopeImRight What car /engine do you drive?

EV real world range and cost to charge
There are plenty v8's to go around and nobody is stopping others from running them or buy the petrol. Running them on LPG makes lots of sense and plenty people do that.

EV real world range and cost to charge
I had 600 miles worth of free charging yesterday and today but it was a fiasco at 6 am this morning and not that much fun yesterday with Charger Wars and the hopelessness of Charge Place Scotland and some local authorities. I met 3 company drivers that are now going back to diesels as they are peed off with the carry on of charging. One driver of a £95,000 EV Merc that has to do lots of miles is going back to a ICE Jag and does not care about the fuel expense or BIK but acually getting places. The Merc only charges at 100 kW max and is not efficient. ......................... 5,000 miles has disappeared off what my car thinks it has done, but in total with this car and other evs i have done over 35,000 miles for less than £100 paid for electricity and 2 x CPS cards.

EV real world range and cost to charge
The Green Hydrogen is coming on and the USA wants the Ammonia to be the big thing. Renewable electricity is easy, and storing it is not, so producing the synthetic fuels and energy sources to store is coming in the biggest way. The smart people have their money in it now. They have the investments now in the North East of Scotland. http://group.vattenfall.com/uk/newsroom/pressreleases/2022/aberdeen-hydrogen But 'they' (the wealthiest) still have more money invested in Fresh Water as that is what the world will be short off, it needs lots of energy to produce. Some places just have lots of resources and some need to bring it from far away.

EV real world range and cost to charge
As soon as it is $$$$$'s mentioned then you know they are burning coal. and oil and gas and getting oil & gas and coal out and not giving a damn about the environment. If they are worried about where the oil and gas is elsewhere in the world then just fund killing people and claiming their resources or sell weapons to dictators to ensure they do the killing.

TSI 1.5 oil specification changes
@HMSWoofDog Welcome to the forum. Worth reading the owners manual on Driving in / running in a new car and also on oil. The Owners Manuals have been saying the same thing for more than a decade on the oil use in the first 5,000 km.

2.0 TDI 150 excessive blowby?
This is how it used to be done. *5,000 km not miles, by the VW Group bumf on the example of an owners manual at the bottom.*
-
2.0 TDI 150 excessive blowby?
The owners manuals for all VW Group engines says that May use as much as 0.5 litre in 1,000 km / 621 miles, under certain conditions. They have for over a decade. That does not mean 0.5 litres in 1,000 km is acceptable. 0.3 litres in 1,000 km might not be if you are not towing an elephant over a high Alpine pass in high summer. So you need to do an accurate Oil Consumption test. & then there are official oil consumption tests where the new oil is weighed after being dropped and then the km / miles driven and then dropped and weighed. ........................ But unlike this muppet doing it, 1 litre is not 1,000 grams. it is 857 grams. @ 15*oC. (The owner got a new engine. Because the official test was crap as was the report.)

Glazed brake disc's
So if the OP's car is 1 year old or younger and 10,000 miles or less all the crap about replacing discs now is really not relevant unless they are gubbed. It is a shame that customers pay good money to Main Dealers to be left unsure if they are lying barstewards that are upselling or actually honest & trying to keep the customers safe. We mostly know the answer to that one.
-
Glazed brake disc's
@kentdale They are taking the Michael with the brakes, but then you need them inspected now before kicking off with the Dealer Principal. HOW MUCH DID THIS SERVICE COST YOU,? OR IS IT A FREE SERVICE, PART OF A SERVICE PLAN? That meaning the car was put on a Fixed Service Interval. How many miles has the car done now? When the PDI was done? ie. Could you explain your car please. When was it first registered? A Interim service as it was called was a 'Fixed Service at 372 days / 9,400 miles. A pollen filter is a 24 month / 18,000-20,000 mile change item. Ridiculous price at a Main Dealers. EDIT. I see to the left it is a 2021 car. So is that October 2021? Look at your pollen filter and maybe shake it and vacuum it and clean the area and put it back in, as it is a 2 year replace item.

Daytime running light bulbs
Then you buy bulbs from a Motor Factor because someone is always selling them bellow RRP. They are not yet like Sunflower Oil or Toilet rolls.
