Add on engine tuning
@AvocetI posted 'Conspiring not to not have to have bigger AdBlue tanks'. Skoda Executives might want to look like they are stupid as VW's Martin Winterkorn did, but he was an Engineers Engineer yet everything gets blamed on minions. They conspired to have smaller AdBlue tanks & reduce component costs. To use the Daimler System that was licensed and VW bought. It was a cabal or cartel. it was a system so that US drivers would not need to be topping up tanks all the time because if the emission reduction really worked big tanks would be required to have longer between refills. VW Green Diesels were introduced to the US by Stefan Jacoby CEO North America & of the VW Family (never got the top job) that then huffed off to Volvo / Geely in 2010, **VOLVO /GEELY then completed the Twin Chargers development properly and the hybrids which VW had not done successfully.) then Stefan Jacoby was off to GM Global. He had been at Mitshubishi after his career start at VW and then returning. (Now is he a whistleblower or just a cuckoo in the nest?) We know about averages, made up of highs and lows. Lots of lows to bring an average down. Lots of manipulation to get the low figures, even using vehicles with no ICE or manufacturers with low registrations of higher emission vehicles as a partner so that you are not penalised for still producing high emission vehicles. VW Testing was cheating C02 g/km with their own test results done at whichever facilities. Petrol & Diesels. They might say a fuddle not a fiddle but they were caught. Putting engine oil in diesel was a cheat that was only too common with the diesels under the old test regime. Over inflating tyres of test vehicles and that was ones on rolling roads. VW Group were going to just tweak the engine management for the introduction of the WLTP. They tweaked 1.5TSI EVO ACTs and still they were too high on emissions and they tweaked till they were certificated but some run like crap. The 1.4 TSI' for the Plug in Hybrids as they were in 2015/16 actually needed more done to get certificated so production stopped for a bit. https://slashgear.com/vw-admits-430k-2016-models-have0implausible-co2-claims-17414721 The Mild Hybrid & Plug In Hybrids tested under the WLTP and RDE2 figures are just pure kidology. Lord Michael Heseltine was there with Margret Thatcher when diesel was going to be the fuel for the UK, she knew that was wrong. Lord Michael Heseltine owned and then owned again Haymarket Media Group that owns AutoCar, What Car & Piston Heads among other motoring & financial journals. He owns via his companies part of an Emissions Testing Company that does testing for the Motor Industry and the UK Government. Lord Heseltine was involved in the Sale of Rolls Royce & Bentley to Volkswagen Group in 1998. David Cameron brought Lord Heseltine in to help with business an the motor industry. At the heart of government and the economy and see nothing just as the heads of VW did not. Are they all selectively deaf, dumb and blind or just all in it together? Martin Winterkorn. Chairman of VW AG. A details person with yes men and woman around him.

2.0 TSI Remap Options
Re testing extensively. APR /REVO and other will tell the possible gains of a petrol car on 98 ron petrol. REVO were selling Stage 1 for 1.4 TSI Twinchargers and it was a really crap remap. Development and extensive testing must have gone a bit Pete Tong. 98 ton petrol has not been sold in the UK for years, it is 97 or 99 ron minimum now in the UK and now E5. 95 ron being E10. Know what fuel you are running your car on and get it on a Dyno before the remap when properly serviced or any hardware upgrades are done then afterwards.

Average Emissions required in the UK are now separate from the EU requirement. VW Group have not had enough First Registrations of their own brands but have partnered with the likes of MG to ensure they can have the required scores on the doors. https://europe.autonews.com/environmentemissions/vw-group-says-it-met-eu-co2-goal-2021-higher-ev-sales

Add on engine tuning
VW really had issues with the WLTP & RDE and now RDE2 because that had been having their test results accepted. Cheating was going to be very difficult. They had not been developing the low emission engines they needed to be doing. & were well behind on mild hybrids, plug in hybrids and EV's. Buying into others R&D had not worked. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/vw-group-hit-hard-new-wltp-emissions-test It is good that there are parts of the world where the WLTP is not relevant and you can buy a 1.4 TSI with a 8 speed autobox. @AvocetA bunch of American Academics had the Cheat brought to their attention by tuners that were remapping vehicles. Who broke the story does not matter. It could have been UK Government Ministers that had been made aware years before by the UK Testing company. Patrick McLoughlin MP (later made Baron McLoughlin) the Transport Secretary and his department, It could have been Suzuki that VW had bought into to get their R&D or Fiats but then Suzuki bought their last shares back the eve of the scandal breaking with money Toyota lent them. http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-34275917 http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-34324772 Daimler, BMW & VW & others were conspiring to not have to have bigger AdBlue tanks in vehicles and required Defeat Devices to ensure that the SCR system could require less of it. http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry-news-government-and-legislation/eu-fines-bmw-vw-colluding-daimler-emissions-tech VW Group were caught with Software cheats after 2015 with Software for DSG's. They have been under investigation since and still are. There were Implausible C02 g/km figures in the sister brands but not with Skoda. There were Euro 6 emission vehicles that had to discontinued that were not going to get the WLTP / RDE certification and ones that did that then failed re-testing. https://autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/99634/audi-recalls-127000-cars-over-emissions-cheat-device-discovery

Rear brake discs - typical lifespan?
Actually the VW Group can and do source some right crap consumables, then some are fine. So it is the luck of the draw, Cheap to purchase discs and pads can sometimes be streets ahead of OEM parts and replacement parts that dealerships fit. Always worth looking at Car Supermarket vehicles or long term Airport Parking etc and seeing how some Manufacturers or Brands or models discs look after sitting awhile. There are cars that sit with discs getting no surface rust and others red with it.

Is the 80 worth the extra over the 60
The Briskoda members latest vid in his 60. Horses for courses. How are prices going on any used Enyaqs being sold in the UK?

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
https://autocar.co.uk/car-news/business-dealership%2C-sales-and-marketing/skoda-sales-down-129-electric-enyaq-volumes-strong Skoda is a low volume seller in the UK. the best selling model is not anyplace near the UK's top selling models. A Skoda UK CEO is always now moved in from VW Group elsewhere like the latest one this year transferred from VW China. Skoda are Skoda in name, profits per vehicle can be pretty small but then they are sold new / leased, come back and sold used, and maybe sold again. Skoda is just part of the Volkswagen Group & with just a bit more than 1 million sales globally in a good year, and VW Group are money lenders and money borrowers. They finance the vehicles from their share holders and investors and Skoda do what VW Group decide. VW decide what brands will be First Registering what models and when and the emissions of the vehicles registered. They decide in the UK when they want ones out to fleets, hire companies, motability, emergency services or sold to lease companies or leased with VW Finance. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/business-finance-and-corporate/volkswagen-sales-down-8-2021-profit-451 Just now Dealerships are surviving but in the past Motor Group owners were the ones that dumped Skoda not Skoda dumping them.

Lane assist is dangerous
'Which cars have Lane Enforce'? Mistakes have nothing to do with it. It is supposed to be a 'nudge' not a self drive car taking control. @KenONeillhave you driven a car with Lane Keep Assist yet?

Rear brake discs - typical lifespan?
Sorry, Probably because i pressed the report button and suggested it might be best here. Your post might have sat long enough getting no replies. The Fabia Mk3 brakes are not great as other models of Skoda are not but the bigger heavier cars are a bit different. I just thought the members here with Mk3's would be best able to pass on their experiences. There is not really a General Life of Discs or Pads front or rear because some people hardly use the brake pedal and others use it lots. Some clean the cosmetic rust off discs when the start driving and others just drive, or have no cosmetic rust. Applying the hand / parking brake a little to clean the discs / corrosion. Location location location. Winters, salted roads, living in the hills or near the sea or in towns or cities.

Fuel Economy
TSI's love Ethanol. There is no better fuel efficiency with the 99 ron minimum without ethanol. Greenergy that partners with Shell for importing & storing base fuels produces and delivers Tesco Momentum and ESSO fuels in the areas where it does not have ethanol. Tesco part own Greenergy. Being further up north in the UK can mean you are getting cheaper fuel than further south, like in Scotland. If anybody bothered they could do the actual fuel testing properly and publish the results. The testing company is owned by a publishing companies owners but nobody really wants to be showing what E5 or E10 means or the difference between 97 or 99 ron for even emmissions. Tesco did test and publish though a few years back. 6ca06d648b9541e78fa838fece4a1a23 (1).pdf 388380a097b04fe693a8c27db8bb4974 (1).pdf

DIY oil change advice
Good. What a shame this is not common across Skoda UK Main Dealers or Motor Groups. ? What about VAQ servicing, are you doing many? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/494489-front-differential-service-vrs-245/page/2

Lane assist is dangerous
Lane assist is really good for the likes of the morons you see crossing lines and going onto other sides of the roads as they chat to passengers or on their phone. They should have it. What is not necessary is that the system fitted is total crap as some manufacturers have managed to make them. Lots more Safety Devices will be mandatory soon, the EU and the UK should be making sure that EU and UK Manufacturers and those in the RoW are fitting fit for use systems.

DIY oil change advice
@sherlocks VRS You are just what people need for so much help. Does the Dealership you work at advice people with a VAQ Diff that they require oil changes @ 30,000 miles/ 3 years & with Haldex do you clean filters or replace or just do oil changes, or give customers the choice?

MOT history
Nothing really to worry about on a 2016 2.0TSI with this low mileage or even a higher mileage. Have the spark plugs been changed? If not best have them done.

Fuel Economy
@Bepisyou could maybe save over a couple of quid a tank still using E5 and not giving Shell filling stations as big a profit. Tesco Momentum 99 or even Sainsbury Super Unleaded 97 ron. (minimum)

Alloy Wheels Stuck
More carefully than removing the rears, but a thump from behind with the bolts loosened is required. With the rears / drums, Normally someone tries loosening the bolts a bit with the car on the ground and giving the car a good shake. There is Lifting the car hand giving the wheel/ tyre a hard kick / malleting. Some use a big bit of wood and whack that. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/309925-looking-after-your-alloys http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/348610-releasing-stuck-alloy-wheels

Help- 2010 Skoda problem.
If a 1.6 TDI it is a Euro 5 & a Mk2 Fabia. Regardless of what a V5 says. Likely had the VW Emission fix, so the Engine Management software update and the flow device in the Air Intake. https://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions

DIY oil change advice
Warm the engine and change the oil & filter. Oil out and oil back in. Engine flush if you want, or just hotter oil drained when doing the job. ( I do not use engine flush with engines i run and changed the oil on regularly.) I have used cheap oil to flush run an old engine after draining the crap it came with, then drain the cheap stuff and put in good oil. Know the engine as a mechanic or tech should but a Fitter might not. Be that at a Dealership or a Tyre & Exhaust / Service Centre.

195x55R15 vs. 195x50R15
Well the Anti-lock (skid) brake systems compulsory from 2004 are not activated until the user is pressing the brake pedal or hand control if they have that. But then the system is part of more stuff as time moved on.

195x55R15 vs. 195x50R15
Many Mk2 Fabia did / do not have ESP / ESC as Skoda were still charging as an option when others had it as standard. Some did have it as standard. Then Traction Control / TC / ASR was not on all cars or enabled on all, and some had an off switch and some did not, including Monte Carlo's. Then with the DSG some like the vRS had XDS while others with the DSG did not. Those with TC/ ASR and with or without XDS can have lots of flashing of the TC light even with the correct tyres can be because they are tyres with crap traction. TC/ ASR is only dealing with the drive wheels (Front) ESP / ESC is trying to keep things going where they should.

DIY oil change advice
& many have had problems / issues with hydraulic timing chain tensioners with some engines because of those doing oil changes that have not a clue. That includes at Main Dealers. Care needed when drain hot oil because you can easily balls things up. The timing jumping a tooth is not a good thing. Even leaving an engine draining cold oil for a long time can be an issue for the hydraulic chain tensioner.

DIY oil change advice
Sucking out is pretty good for those doing lots of oil changes and those DIY. That is draining 'Hot engine oil' safely & cleanly removed, then the sump plug removed and replaced and the last of any oil is removed if the car is at the right angle. If your car is new to you or you are doing someone else's there might be sludge but really if your car has been maintained that is doubtful. None of it is rocket science really. Make your choices. If you sucked the oil last time and changed the sump plug and found there was no dribbling oil the next time you might leave the sump plug well alone.

Help- 2010 Skoda problem.
Welcome to the forum? Is it a 1.6TSI or a 1.2TDI? A mod might move this to the Fabia Mk2 section.

Fitting kit for Engine under tray
They will be there for someone else then and for the next customer they can maybe get the right ones. All the years they were at Burrelton and now in Perth and they never seem to get the hang of Skoda's and parts.

195x55R15 vs. 195x50R15
@AthrxWhat reason did you run those, had you needed to fit one of those as a spare? You have a DSG do you not?
