  1. Thanks. I am tight and money is getting too tight to mention. I own my ICE vehicles and they are keepers. I have only been putting lots miles on the EV because of Free Charging. Needing to go put 1/2 tank diesel in my Shogun as only used 1/2 tank since Xmas giving it an odd run weekly. Break my heart. Bought nearly no petrol for a year as only done a few hundred miles in that. I will be looking at tariffs late in the year because as it is doing nothing until able to change fro E.ON or there is a suitable tariff. It will be 18 pkWH i pay using the 3 pin. I can even leave my car parked on Free Slow chargers and bike away and go back for it. So i will see what i see as i go along. Circumstances might change sooner rather than later and i get a move from where i am.
  2. @wyx087Some help please or any help / advise from anyone. Long story still long! I never took a Free Charger because i expected to move and i have no smart meter fitted again because i expected to move. Also because charging free within a mile of home appealed but that ends in October. Price not confirmed with Angus Council yet but it will be costlier than 18 pence a kWh at home. So i was with Scottish Hydro but went to Octopus before getting the car and thought i would be doing more pre warming during winter and topping up the last 2% before trips. Seldom happened and my Gas & Electric was too expensive. Went to E.ON and i am paying a daily on Electric & Gas and the Electric is 18 pence kWh. So tied to them until January. The are desperate to fit a Smart Meter, they can wait. EDF looks like the ones i might go to in 2022 & let them fit a Smart Meter. I will probably fit a Home Charger via a grant but maybe not as i have a 3 pin charger and for a while can still charge free someplace's i go, and still planning on moving. ? So would EDF be right for me. Off Peak Charging? Thinking about the tariff for the not off peak and also the gas. This is considering that for the past 5 years my electric for the house is never more than £1.50 a day even charging e-bike batteries, trickle charging cars and even running green house heaters in ones on the coldest nights. Average is £1.10 a day. Gas works out at £50 a month and that is with no gas heating used for near 5 months of Summer or less cold weather.
  3. The thing is that the difference can be lots between TDI's that have different power, euro 5, euro 6 and euro 6d-temp because of the power, 6 or 7 speed & even 1.6TDI's with DQ200 7 speed dry clutch. Same with TSI 2 litres, Euro 5 or 6 or newest and 6 or 7 speed. Identical cars can feel differently and sometimes that might just be because of tyres and steering and handling being part of how the engine and dsg feels. Then there are various settings and it is all EU Fuel but some use regular and some Premium diesel. or Unleaded or Super Unleaded. The basics are that none of the DSG's should feel crap as VW group have had over a Decade to get them as good as they can. Now they need to get them efficient for emissions. Now they are ready to drop the Drivetrains many want for the sake of having Hybrids and that should mean smooth take offs and gearshifts.
  4. None as blind as those that choose not to see, or learn from what people experience in the real world where The tech knows best. Best to remember if someone says you are teaching Granny how to suck an egg, well you actually Blow an egg not suck. Skoda dealership techs were getting the wrong Oil Filters for 1.2 TSI's in Mk 2 Fabia when they were changed. They were not filling with the correct quantity of oil when handing cars back but would say 'we do this for a living, we know how to check oil'. (Some even failed to remove one rubber seal and fit a new filter and over tighten and then people had low Oil Pressure Warnings.) There were 1.4TSI / TFSI 132-136kW Twinchargers getting Official Oil Consumption tests and Techs that could not follow the TPI and did reports not knowing that 1 litre of engine oil at 15*oC is 857 grams according to VW. Cars were getting new engines and leaving Dealerships Overfilled with Oil or in cases under filled. So as much as some trust in Gods they need to at least know the basics on checking oil levels. Also accept that oil is a coolant and if an engine is going to be worked hard or just do long journeys at least have the correct quantity of oil in, know you have before starting out. Especially if you do not know if the engine uses oil or not. Many say 1 litre difference between the high and low level. Well not in all engines and some dipsticks are not the best to read. In some VW Group engines with less than 4 litres oil capacity the level can be 1.5 litres low and no Low Oil Warning, maybe a Low oil Pressure appears first. Then open the bonnet, do nothing, just shut the bonnet and a Low Oil Warning light can go out for 60 miles / 100km. So simple to check Oil Level anytime you collect a vehicle. Odd how those with a C&G in Mechanical Engineering or a NVQ can co-ck it up but many do.
  5. For those with a TDI with SCR or any vehicle that needs AdBlue that is leased from MOTABILITY you can have your AdBlue top ups at Main Dealers of the Brand you have for 'free'. It counts as part of the 'Service Package'. If you are going in for just the Adblue and not a 'Service' then best not just arrive, give a call and ask when you can arrive to have them top up the AdBlue. If your car is getting the last Service & MOT pre hand back the dealership might just add some Adblue and not do a full top up. Greed on their part as they are well paid for that last Service & MOT being carried out before the vehicle goes to auction.

Skoda vehicles with OEM Alloys and a steel spare wheel do not have a set of bolts in the kit for when fitting the spare. The bolts holding on the alloy are used when you have to fit the steel spare wheel.
  7. At least with electricity you do not have octane to consider. Even on this forum people complain about cars being serviced and getting worse fuel economy. They do not know if they buy 97 or 99; super unleaded or just 95. No idea if their tyre pressures were changed. Fail to consider they fitted new tyres. Do not do brim to brim or consider the weather and there heater AC setting. Some are even professional drivers as in Taxi drivers. There are car salespeople that are car enthusiasts but can not lecture customers or quiz them. There are other that never pay for their fuel or now electric and are clueless.
  8. I remember each and every video I watch or review I read. Some I take with a pinch of salt. Comparisons that are not like for like are dismissed by me though. Group tests or comparisons more accurate in lots of cases. Saying they drove this or that on this route and the temp was such and such means nothing unless the way the blogger in Norway does. Tyres, pressures, ambient temp cabin temp and cars on a weigh bridge.
  9. A UK owner just posted. I wonder how many other UK owners have used their ID.4 over the past winter. There certainly will be ones using AC in the past weeks.
  10. Cheers, hopefully they were cozy though even though not having an improved range. I take it there were 2 identical vehicles being driven in convoy and one with heat pump and one without. Same weight in car and heat in cabin.
  11. Maybe it would help if there was something from what the VW salesperson said about which world region the unhappy customers are in and how they know the Heat Pump is not functioning properly. The thing is with sales people is when we know they might be telling the truth or it is Chinese Whispers or they are about to get their books at the end of the month.
  12. @Finlayoman The Enyaq is not on that Screenshot i took yesterday but the Citigo iV and Superb PHEV is. Where is the current list with the Enyaq on it? Vauxhall e-Corsa's were with Dealerships and customers and Vauxhall paid for the Home charger to be installed and yet for the grants they did not appear on the list and BP ChargeMaster were not interested in discussing installing charger with the grant when i was inquiring with them. EDIT. Got the Enyaq on the UK Website even though i could not find it on the Scottish Site for charger grants.
  13. Mk1's. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/363392-heater-blows-faster-in-reverse I have never driven one, only mk2's & mk3's & DSG's and i knew something happened when reversing but then i am Mutt & Jeff.
  14. When engines have oil capacities as low as 2.8, 3.2, 3.6, 3.9 litres it can just be good practice to keep the oil towards the max capacity. If you are low by less than 1 litre you can be 1/4 or a 1/3 below the oil capacity and oil is a coolant. Obvious never overfill and be aware if you vehicles engine is one where the oil level should be checked at Normal Operating Temp or like a 1.2 44kW engine checked cold. (Best know where that level is when cold even with engines where VW Group Manufacturers say 'Warm' as Skoda did or 'hot as VW, SEAT & Audi said or @ operating temperature.) Always check your cars oil after someone services it, check before the engine is started and if cold and check when you get to your destination or the engine is up to temp. Then check again once cooled. Different strokes for different folks, and differences in VW Group Owners Manuals. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/461969-correct-way-to-check-engine-oil-level-12-htp-51kw
  15. Not Cat flaps. The flaps are in the heating / fresh air system. Closed when in reverse so you do not get fumes and in your case a different noise. Listen to the car from outside with someone driving forward then reversing.
  16. Yes if the coolant was at 108*oC however you were reading it and the not accurate gauge was showing near the 90*oC. The coolant needs to be bringing the oil temp down when it gets up into the 100 plus.
  17. @magicpants If you had coolant at 108 degrees C what was the indicated oil temperature?
  18. I will see when someone is silly enough to lend me one with a towbar / ball which i can hitch up and tow with. I already know how much roof bars, bike carriers and bikes carried can affect an EV's range. Also a bit of a pain when you get to some chargers which are undercover and no uncovered ones available. The 3 in this article Citroen, Spacetourer & Peugeot will be damn lucky to get 143 miles range with people & stuff in them, let alone towing a light trailer at up to 60mph on a warm day. http://autocar.co.uk/car-news/electric-cars/top-10-best-electric-cars-towing At chargers like the 70 connections at Stirling Castleview Park & Ride or Dunblane Tesco Express caravans will need unhitched. http://autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry-news-technology/can-you-tow-electric-car-or-hybrid The Original Rapid Charger will suit an Outfit Charging.
  19. I do as i have no right foot other than an artificial one. So it sits doing nothing and with standard pedals i use the left foot on the accelerator and the brake pedal. Even if you have 2 feet it is worth trying. Maybe in a big empty car park. Dead easy if you are sitting OK / comfortably. The thing is your left foot goes dead easy from accelerator to brake and back to accelerator.
  20. Looking forward to the Caravanning Journals loading a car up as a couple or family might and towing a caravan and reporting on energy usage and possible range they get. Even better if they do group tests where the outfits are driving the same routes in the same weather conditions. Charging at chargers with the Caravans still hitched. (There are some chargers suitable for that in Scotland but they are few and likely far apart.)
  21. It has a Catalytic converter and that needs warmed and happens automatically even on hot mornings. (It is not like a choke.) When you reverse the flaps close in vents so you do not get fumes so maybe you hear the engine differently. You do not say what age your car is but i think it is pre GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter.) again that gets heated quickly to reduce emissions. If the exhaust is suspect then get the car on a ramp but i think likely not necessary.
  22. @TMitchell You say 'One previous owner'. Try to get the gen on that and was the One Previous Registered Keeper was a Company or an individual or family and if their surname was not HERTZ or Eurocar. Full Service History is good if there are Invoices and Receipts or Print Outs of actual work carried out and not just a History of stuff not carried out. You really want to know the Haldex Servicing has been done at 30,000 mile intervals or sooner. Even then you might want it done correctly if you get the car, so oil and filter / clean out getting done.
  23. I am saying i have and it can work, but i have never had it make a difference to a DQ200 with actual issues. That is because the issue is MCU or Clutch / selector fork related and needs repairing. With a DQ200 DSG the owners manual for Fabia Mk2 used to tell you about Dynamic Mode. That was pretty much flooring the accelerator often enough and having it kick down a gear or 2 and the box doing as happens when you do the pedal reset on Wet Clutch DSG's but without the car started. You can make a dull / slow feeling car / van / DSG perk up.
  24. That will suits more people. I would like an estate. I meet a good few with MG EV's and they are happy other than the poor range they achieve. Lots on the roads in Scotland & being leased from Motability. I have spoken with people that have bought ones outright and that are very happy with them.
  25. It might be you are the goose that lays the golden egg for them. Look at the lead for cylinder 3 and see if it is different. That could of been or should have been replaced while your car was in warranty if you had Main Dealership Servicing. I have not had anything to do with them but @xmanmight be able to give you more info on this. EDIT, sorry was typing as he posted.
