  1. @croquemonsieur. Do you drive the like of 400 miles in 7 to 8 hours non stop?
  2. GB Freestyle BMX riders @ the Olympics. Finals are tonight. http://bbc.co.uk/sport/av/olympics/58037565 EDIT. The run that won Charlotte Worthington a Gold Medal & Declan Brooks a Bronze.. http://bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/58044570 In the UK there are a choice of 26" BMX's available from around £500. eg http://sourcebmx.com/collections/26-bmx-bikes?currency=gbp http://alansbmx.com/collection/26-inch http://mafibikes.com/26-inch-bikes.html
  3. I received a Email from CPS to read the new T&C,s and accept the change over and reset my password. I did the first bit and tried tried and tried again and then tried and tried twice more. Now I am locked out of my account. The whole transition is a PITA. Hopefully CYC card is still OK, I will try it later.
  4. There is an item on the BBC cefax about researchers finding problems with 2 types of home chargers and there is advise to update your security. Problem is as I read it 'content not currently available' came up. The story will be someplace and which chargers.
  5. No idea but that looks rather a big space, best check closely that the Transport Blocks have been removed. If not have the dealership collect the car to have their Master Tech do a PDI properly. OT, Not to do with the gap, but have you checked what the tyre pressures are as you got the car? Set them to the pressures you want and reset the TPMS.
  6. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-57352972 Lots of use of off peak electricity & busses not running on diesel means lots less diesel tankers moving diesel about UK roads to bus depots. British built electric buses is something the Government really should get behind as something to aid job creation and training opportunities. Lots and lots of batteries needed to have buses UK wide all being electric as other buses are taken off the road. There are still some right old smokey buses running about.
  7. @lol-lol How did the typo come to be with the Porsche? DOH, i see now it is the Mazda. with the 30.... Bl00dy hell!
  8. Home charging is only useful if you are based around home and not going away and trying to get back further than the range of your vehicles. EV van drivers know that a passenger and tools / equipment can kill the range. I am interested in how the Commercials / Taxi EV's with 6 people in and a trailer with their luggage and golf gear will get on as 'Airport Transport'.
  9. Take that 200 miles from PSA vehicles with a huge pinch of salt if they are doing more than 60 mph. The lowest and lightest 2 models are not getting that and 2008 or Mokka certainly are not. I have driven them and there are quite a few owners with 2008 in charging regularly at the local to me hub. Plenty totally confused by Sport, normal and ECO and driving to get range in ECO and B. They are slugs if you use them that way. Some charging on AC because the Salespeople told them Rapid charging would kill the batteries. It is sad the rubbish customers are getting told at Dealerships, or not told. If a driver is getting 4 miles per kWh of a 45Kw usable battery then that is 180 mile. 3.5 miles kWh is more likely, so 157.5 miles. Then that is the 45kWh usable at 100% and run to empty, so not starting maybe with 98% where you still get regeneration and not going lower than 10% before getting to a charger. Like driving on real roads where the charging 20%-80% might suit some but not all trips, and the time to charge to 100% can be rather long and something done while you are not waiting around.
  10. OT, just messaged the seller on eBay to see where my Ice-tec brake pads are for my E-bike. Not OEM Shimano which can be £20 plus a pair but 'copies' / snide ones at 2 pairs for £18. These last about 600 miles on the rears and 800 miles front. Which is about the same as a cassette and chain on one of my biked which come in at £150 a time. Another is on originals at 2,500 miles People think servicing and maintenance is expensive but nothing compared to some E-bikes with the likes of 75-90 Nm and without regenerative braking carrying around 120 kg and the bikes weight. Rolling along on the flat, powering up hills, but much need of slowing down as they start getting above 30 mph going down hill.
  11. ? I see the detail in the article, cars charged and left 15 hours and charged before the test. Is there any mention of the ambient temp at the time of the test? There might be but not seeing it as i scroll on the phone. Fastening with a seat belt 100 kg bag in each seat and 100 kg in the boot should be a requirement of any range test of EV's or ICE vehicles. Then you might know just how bad it can get for using up 'power'. PS in the article @lol-lollinked they managed to include from the VW group very different models from Porsche, VW, Audi & Skoda yet omitted anything from what was the PSA Group which all run the same Batteries & Motors. 50kwH (45 usable) and 100kw motors. So that could of been a Peugeot, Vauxhall, DS, Citroen EV Small size or Crossover size or even MPV. About 10 versions to have chosen from.
  12. The use of the word 'power' is an issue. You do charge the batteries with electricity to provide 'power' to run the motors', the available power / energy might well be poorer and get poorer, the motors will still produce the same 'Power' as it is just the range will be reduces because of less energy available. Confusing, indeed can be and will be. When you use the power the car has available to move the car quicker or a a car when heavier it is using up more energy. the use of 'Power' is going to confuse. Petrol, diesel, lpg or electricity to power / fuel your vehicle, but the engine / motor still produces power, conditions can reduce the power a ICE vehicles engine produces, a electric motors power stays the same no mater how much above or below sea level.
  13. It was a problem back early on with turbos, decades back now. As to pulling off a UK Motorway even if you were fully loaded and doing 30 MPH over the speed limit and your engine is super toasty, coolant and oil and you stop dead at a service area the engine will be taking care of its self. Coolant circulates, fans suck and blow and all is well with the world. No need to open the bonnet and blow cold air at it. eg F1.
  14. PS Warning, check out. Re Fixed Service. VW are showing Hybrids as due OIl Changes at 8,000 miles and Skoda are at 9,000 miles for the 1.4 TSI engine. You are not going to use VW 502 00 oil though are you? 5w 40 Full Synthetic. (off topic but when TDI's it is the 507 00 or 509 00 regardless of fixed or variable.) ......................................................................................................... These people are saying 10,000 miles on the Plug in Hybrids. I have seen the 8,000 & 9,000 quoted in other VW Group sites, and these are linked in other threads in this forum, Superb & Octavia section.
  15. @CageyH See the 2nd post i made. Your car is on Fixed Oil & Filter changes because the VW Group shows that for All Plug in Hybrids. It appears that Variable / Flexible service intervals or just Oil Changes are not available regardless of Warranty because the engine might not be fired up that often or running that long to have oil up to an efficient temp. @SurreyJohn the Spec is VW 508 00 / 509 00 So 0w 20 FS IV As in the same oil used in the TSI and the TDI, 508 part TSI & TDI's 509. Same as the Oil before VW changed when it was VW 504 00 / 507 00 so 5w 30 FS III
  16. There are axle changes during the production period of Mk2 Fabia. Several threads about on the subject of the axles. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/419318-disc-rear-axle-swap http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/450084-monte-carlo-2012-5j-rear-disc-conversion
  17. It really has been an Issue that the Scottish Government has been allowing where Public Money has been getting paid to Companies / Hosts and Operators providing a very poor service as far as the Reliability and availability of the Charge Place Scotland Network. Maintenance response times of weeks and months has been abysmal. Not that MSP's or Michael Matheson MSP & Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, energy and transport seem to notice. Not 'Government Funded', Tax Payer funded and money handed out by the Government , elected and non elected Civil Servants who should maybe all be required to travel by EV in Scotland when on Government business and only be able to claim their expenses for Charging, that is unless cycling, flying or getting on ferries to cross seas.
  18. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/jul/28/leading-the-charge-can-i-make-it-from-lands-end-to-john-ogroats-in-an-electric-car I cant even link it, so very much like many CPS chargers. Like Robert the Bruces Spider or EV chargers you need to try try and try again, and sometimes move on to someplace else. http://chargeplacescotland.org/about-us The change over has happened since Monday. http://chargeplacescotland.org/network-news/new-network-operator-chargeplace-scotland
  19. ASDA & Radisson Hotels. Asda, Tesco & others doing home deliveries just need to start putting just EV light Commercials on the road ones they have received any ICE vehicles they have on order. Well where the vehicles routes out of cities or towns will be within the range of charged vehicles. ..................From the Latest ZapMap Newsletter........................................................................................................................................................................................................... ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
  20. A long time now since it was 'water'. So to be a bit pedantic. Coolant. Liquids coolant as in antifreeze summer coolant and rust inhibitor with or without H20. When there is water the boiling and freezing point is altered by the other stuff present. Oil also being a coolant with an ICE.
  21. That is why Stop / Start has an off button. But then not everyone drives just in Bristol or Cities or locations where Stop / Start was really introduced for so that hundreds or thousands of cars were sitting with engines running when not moving. As to the Stop / Start and turbos and oil and temperature, the engineers were fully aware of issues when designing the systems. Maybe some manufacturers make a horlicks of the systems but they have been on the go for well over a decade now.
  22. Guest_ replied to aerik's topic in Škoda Citigo
Long before any tread wear is ever noticed set the pressures according to the comfort and safe handling you want. Good traction & safe handling with the load in the car on wet roads rather than the best economy of inflating to ECO pressures.
  23. PS The REVO Stage 1 or 2 on the 1.4 TSI / TFSI 132-136 kW Twincharger engines was really poor. Not a good upgrade and REVO were in denial. The APR map was much better. Not so sure on a Euro 6 150PS 1.4 TSI being taken to 200ps. ? Are APR saying this is on 98 ron? when actually it would be 97 ron or 99 ron Super Unleaded as nobody in the UK sells 98 ron and have not for about 8 years now. ............................ I do not see where APR are listing the Euro 6 1.4 TSI (Turbo not Twincharger) Stage 1 remap. http://goapr.co.uk I see the Mk2 Octavia Euro 5 1.4 TSI listed. http://onlyrevo.com They are showing the 1.4 TSI ACT engines. UK Warranties from Remappers / Tuning Box sellers in the UK is on their Product and Fitters Workmanship, not on an engine going pop. The Warranties offered in other World Regions and the cost of the product can be very much more expensive because they are giving proper insurance against failures. Read T&C's and exclusions very closely, even with Bluefin.
  24. @FlyingGecko Octavia vRS certainly do have different boxes as in wet clutch DSG's rather than DQ200's as fitted to 1.4TSI & all other front wheel drive VW Group engines with no more than 192 ps or 250 Nm. The Polo GTI 1.8 TSI from 2015 has 192 ps and 250Nm with the DSG but 320Nm with the Manual. PLenty with Mk2 vRS Fabia (these have DQ200 DSG only) which are 188ps & 250Nm have them remapped to Stage 1 and get 200ps Plus and over 300 Nm and have run them for years, some even go Stage 2 with a standard DQ200, and some fit uprated clutch packs and modified software.
  25. I hope the Dealer Principal gave you the Demonstrator they drive until today.
