  1. Haha, what a total waste. If you had to put them anywhere then you'd be better off with them on the front - your head's further away from the front bumper!
  2. Thanks dude. Common sense was telling me that, but just needed it confirmed to calm my fears!
  3. I've got a tax issue too - I have two vehicles (car and work van) and the tax ran out on both on Saturday. I renewed online last Friday (forgot about it until this point!) so they're both taxed, although I'm still driving them with expired tax discs as the new discs haven't turned up yet. Is this a problem?
  4. Man, some of those figures are crazy. Mine's an October 04 54 reg and it's on 16,800 miles!
  5. Haha, it's a whole farmyard, the back of these motors!
  6. The old lights remind me of pig's snouts for some reason.
  7. No way, gloss black mirrors seem to be the way forward from looking at show and shine entrants cars at the shows... Although it doesn't work if you have a gloss black car! I'd say gold would be perfect on a black car tho
  8. Just don't worry about the cost, whip the plastic out and get yourself a nice ECS setup... A mate in our club's just got some for his mk4 golf - they're a bit nutty and stop on a sixpence!
  9. Welshy, if the lad wants to have a car, he wants to have a car. Simple. U seem to be turning everything into a debate recently and it makes for tiring reading. Ultra_joel88, go for it dude, if I had the money for a decent car when I was your age I would've jumped at the chance! Your insurance quotes are fine - I have friends who are slightly older than you who pay a similar rate, insurance is just more expensive these days. Also if your parents are paying for it then hey, go wild!
  10. Yeah, it's nearly always off. Thinking of modding it so it stays off all the time and is only on when I switch it on.
  11. The campsite was awesome, loads of people getting stuck and it was a proper laugh. Some people thought the mud was a downer but they're probably just old and boring, and lost without an en-suite bathroom! It was easy enough to get in and out, just stick the car in 2nd, don't use the accelerator and the engine idle will get you out - easy. Some people seemed to think that by flooring it they'd be out in no time... doofuses! Anyway, that's the end of my off-topic ramblings!
  12. I can't comment on ESP as I don't have it, and don't see the need for it personally as it's something I've never had. The worst thing on VAG cars is the ASR - it's bloody dangerous - trying to pull off quickly on busy roundabouts (for example) to follow the flow of traffic it just cuts the power - rubbish!
  13. Lol, you can tell how much notice I take of things then. Still, it's an almost original touch for the UK... BTW Luke, awesome picture up there, good skills. If I keep praising you can I have a free anti-roll bar?
  14. Hahaha, I don't believe it luke, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I was thinking how original it was going to be and someone's already done it! B*gger. LOL Oh well, I'm still going to do it. Think I'm going to vinyl mine tho, as opposed to painting it. Looks great so I'll get onto it after I've come home from Glastonbury. Want to get it done before BVF. Cheers mate, you're a star.
  15. If you're anywhere near South Wales then there's a guy on our club forum that will revive and detail your entire car's paintwork for you. He does it as a hobby so prices aren't extortionate, and results are incredible.
  16. Does anyone know how to remove the front lens off the headlights or know if it's possible? I have a styling mod I want to make to them but need to remove the front lens in order to carry it out. I'm assuming that it's not gonna be the same as my old mk2 Golf GTI where I left them in my oven at 170 degrees for 5 minutes, unless I want melted plastic lenses along with my new mods! TIA Nick
  17. I'm using a Sachs paddle clutch and it's great. Takes a little bit of getting used to, but nothing too difficult, and is probably the cheapest of all the options.
  18. When you get the full slicks you'll be gunning for that Scirroco then?
  19. I could see your stand from ours, looked well represented. Mine was the yellow Fabia on gloss black Porsche rims on the Newport Edition stand just up from the Brisky stand. Didn't have any spare time to come over and have a look (at any of the club stands or most of the traders) as 2 of us from Newport Edition were helping set up the show and shine. Amazingly, no Skodas entered the show and shine all weekend so nobody won that class, so I was 'given' the winning rosette... Anybody with a Skoda, no matter how dirty, could have rolled over and won the Skoda Show and Shine class! Hehe. Never mind. One funny thing is we were telling our club members to come into the club stand area on arrival and then just look for my car (as its not hard to miss being yellow and having black wheels), but there was a yellow vRS on black rims on your stand!! The confusion wasn't helped by the amount of beers they'd all consumed all weekend either. lol. Great weekend, even if I got drenched for 2 days then sunburnt yesterday. Still, it's prepared me for Glastonbury later this week!
  20. I saw you on the sprint strip and am sure you would've got a much better time if you hadn't been sat there with the wheels spinning! Was the same for a lot of people, except the Scirroco that was doing 0-60 in the high 2's!
  21. Mine's a dension and had this loose wire too. I just bent up a tab on the back of the stereo, popped the wire in place and bent it back down. A year later it's still running fine.
  22. I usually aim for about 3.5k to change up, then it drops back to 2.5k-ish in the nest gear, ready to ride the torque wave. The uprated clutch helps enormously with this style of driving (The standard one died due to me driving like this!) lol
  23. I think I'd prefer to close the windows, turn on the aircon and crank up the stereo! That
