  1. Well, spent this morning removing the dump valve and replacing the standard rohr pipe and the car now seems to run much better - back to it's old self. On the downside, the MPG is still reading way low and the only thing I can assume is that the scotchlock connector that was clipped in to the grey/blue wire from the ECU has damaged the cable - this cable reads the throttle position so the electrical gubbins knew when to activate the dump valve. I suppose if it's damaged, the computer is getting false readings and thinks I've got my foot down harder than I actually have, still I hope that's what it is. If the weather gets better this arvo I'll break the cable and resolder it properly and go from there... If that then fixes it then, hey I may well even try re-fitting the DV and having a further play around. If it doesn't then I'm gonna have to send my car to the main stealers for them to see why the MPG is reading way low... Bloody cars!
  2. Thankyou I'm going to play around with it tomorrow and see what I can do... My friend spoke to your (and I must add he said VERY helpful) staff last week and established all is installed correctly, so I'm gonna give it one last whirl. Thankyou for the offer of the refund, I'll be in touch if necessary
  3. Thankyou Farky, I'm grateful for you *actually* reading my questions. Comments like the the previous 'essay' to your post are not what I want... I've read enough of that on Briskoda recently, hence my wishes to not have lectures on why I've fitted a DV Anyone else have something constructive to add? Does tapping into pin 69 on the ECU affect the dash display re:MPG? This thing's gonna be binned by the weekend otherwise as I'm now in posession of the standard boost pipe, even though, ultimately, I'd like to keep it. Cheers, Nick
  4. Hi all, just wondering if any of you can give me some advice. I bought a Forge dump valve recently and have fitted it, but ever since I'm regretting what I've done tbh. I like the whoosh sound, so *please* don't start any 'what a waste of money' comments Firstly, I had issues with the springs included not being strong enough, but a friend sorted that for me while I was away on holiday last week. The second problem is that my MPG is reading much lower than usual - normally I get an average of about 43mpg, and that's usually with the car being driven pretty hard, but now I can only achieve about 38mpg when just tickling the throttle on the motorway. Could this just be because I had to tap into the grey/blue wire from pin 69 on the ECU, and it's just reading falsely on the computer? There doesn't seem to be any boost leaks - there's no oily deposits around any of the boost pipe conections. Lastly, I don't know if it's me, but the performance seems to have dropped, although this could just be psychological as I'm not happy with the DV at the moment! TIA for any comments on the above, I've already ordered a standard boost pipe to put the car back to stock, but if I can get this working properly it'll save me having a
  5. Well done Babs. When u get the furby get urself to the NewportEdition.com meets or come along to Ultimate Dubs with us.
  6. Is the fiesta you're on about the one with super wide arches and body panels all round? The car's about 2ft wider than a standard fiesta!
  7. I may be totally wrong, but I thought it must take driving style into account. After taking the Furby round the 'Ring last October the insp indicator came on when driving home. The car was due it's 2nd annual service about 2 weeks after that so perhaps it was just coincidence tho. You've done a lot of mileage, mine's got less than yours and it's 2 years and 3 months old!
  8. Yeah, he still does it regularly. I think his way of getting over bumpy terrain is to point the car and floor the pedal! It seems to work mind so it's probably the best way!
  9. Hi Shaun. Yeah, certainly do know Ryan, he's part of the NewportEdition.com club, top guy. Owns a nice silver mk4. How do u know him?
  10. Ok peeps, coming soon to Xbox 360 is Sega Rally Revo. 'Wow', I hear you all say... Hehe. Actually, I'm quite excited by this, but I thought I'd include a shot of what's in the game. Recognise what's in the middle of the picture?
  11. Yep, when I went with my local VAG club (newportedition.com) last October it was a real learning experience. As well as the Ring taxi, Ferraris, and masses of Porsche 911's, the was a load of bangers, a coach, Sabine racing round in a motorhome, etc. etc. Just take anything, but don't think that smashing a cheap car up won't lose you much money... If you damage any of the track or armco the costs can be huge... And if they close the track for repairs/clearing, you're in deep deep money troubles! I managed to come off the track at about 70 mph in my Fabia... Luckily it was over a nice smooth chicane and I joined the track nice and safely again a few seconds later, with myself and 2 mates a little shaken up! I have video footage of it too, but you didn't hear it from me!
  12. I think it's safe to say that nobody on this world apart from Mr S. koda and his army of car building robots over in Czech land can definitely say what will happen. I'd love to see the 1.4TSI engine in the Furby 2. Now seeing as it has a super and turbocharger, I'd like to be able to remove the boost return (if fitted) from the supercharger and then get a dump valve on the turbo too! The thing would be whooshing and chuffing all day!
  13. Nope, I was being serious... It's not just pub chat, he's one of my best friends, just dropped the pub thing in as that's where we tend to hang out. Still, it's only stuff he hears on the grapevine from Skoda HQ and at VAG meetings in Milton Keynes. Probably been handed down Chinese whisper stylee from the top, and gets exaggerated on the way down. I hear the Furby II vRS will have NOS fitted as standard you know. I do like the sound of that Tudor thing tho. U never know, it may happen. U can only wish
  14. Coming from a J plate Polo G40 that was highly modified and only kicked warm air into the cabin due to the heat the engine was making, the Aircon in the Fabia is an absolute dream.
  15. One of my best mates is the service manager in my local Skoda dealership and has heard chat about both a TDI and petrol Furby vRS in 2008. The TDI most likely being the 170bhp model, and there's a posibility of the petrol model having the 2 litre engine out of the Golf GTI. There's also a rumour about a Superb coupe with a detuned lambo engine as seen in the Audi's. Sorry if this is old news but it's just what I hear when in the pub with him.
  16. Yeah, excellent stuff! Will go get myself one today. Cheers!
  17. Hi peeps, Can I get hold of a suppressor in Halfords? Mine's always made the noise but I just learnt to live with it! Cheers, Nick
  18. Hehe, that's my other plan... There's a few of us going so it might just be a case of using a tow rope and dragging the Furby a few miles down the road!!!
  19. Unfortunately Tesco Insurance excludes the Ring in their T's & C's... Damn! Any ideas which companies will insure me for a few days...?
  20. Hi all, I'm going to the Nurburgring with some fellas from Newport Club GTI in October and need to get myself some trackday insurance for the time I'm over there... I'm insured with Tesco so they certainly won't be able to help...! Does anyone know a company I can contact for trackday insurance on the Nurburgring? Thanks for your help, Nick
  21. I suffer from depression and agree with what the others have said. I haven't got a clue what's triggered mine but the pills help. I'm probably gonna get some counselling at some point too, although your friend's symptoms sound far worse than mine. My friends have been amazing through it all and I couldn't have coped without them. Does your friend live on their own? If so, why not invite him/her to stay over for a while? I live on my own and when I was at my lowest the silence was deafenening when on my own... all you can do is think how the world hates you and how nothing's ever gonna get better! I stayed with some friends for a couple of months and it helped no end. Just be there for your mate and you'll be surprised how the smallest things will help. Oh, and one thing, NEVER ask them 'Are you OK?' repeatedly... It used to drive me up the wall!
  22. Hi all, Just to let anybody in the South Wales area know, we've now set up a basic forum for Newport Edition/Newport Club GTI... If you're from South Wales or fancy attending meetings on the 1st Sunday of every month or fancy chatting to people in the local area, head on over. All VAG catered for! Please bear in mind that it's only been running a day so is pretty quiet and will suffer from teething troubles, but that's gotta be expected! The address is www.newport-clubgti.com/forum Hope to chat to you there! Cheers Nick
  23. I'm away at BVF otherwise I'd be up for it. How about we post our gamertags here? Mine's nickl0 if anyone's interested! Cheers, Nick
