  1. Definitely found no perceptible improvement in performance or economy when using 98RON in either of my high powered cars. I understand the science involved, just not feeling any benefits! Modern cars come with enough electrickery & sensors & computers to eliminate any ignition issues!
  2. I've noticed no difference between 95 & 98 RON fuels , only to my bank balance. Also when chatting to the dealer at 1st Service, they said that they had always run it (mine was their Ex-Demo) on unleaded only and they 're are no issues
  3. Registered with Detailing World,& Deal 2 ordered! :-) http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=254044
  4. cheers Dan, I'll hunt that deal out.
  5. The price of the magifoam is OK, but the shipping costs are sending the total over £30. Was hoping to find a local distributor! :-)
  6. Does anybody know if there are any deals around for 5l magifoam? Or suppliers in the Camberley area? I've recently purchased a lance,& need some more ;-)
  7. Those Dunlops a bl**y noisy on the motorway concrete :-(
  8. I gotta move at those prices! More like £120 for 10K service here :-)
  9. Had a 2l beetle for 10 years before buying the VRS,had it on variable servicing. The 2l was an 80s engine design ,so used to drink a litre of oil every 3000 miles. Due to the fresh oil top-ups it would always last upto the 20,000 miles or 2 years limits before illuminating the service indicator ;-) Would guess the twin charger would be similar As the engine as standard in a high tune state,I think it's worth paying a little more for the Fixed servicing!
  10. My usual Motorway commutes vary between 38-45mpg ,and the long term between servicing average is 38.8mpg
  11. Which magazine have done extensive research into the Wild differences between Manufactuers claimed mpg vs real life motoring! They managed to achieve an overall average of 38/39mpg for the Fabia VRS . Not too shocking compared to Skodas combined claims of 44mpg Unsurprisingly cars with the boldest claims proved to have the greatest disparity Worth a read,if you subscribe !
  12. Anything Quieter than the Dunlops fitted to my VRS? The ear splitting drive around the bottom of the M25 (concrete) Is No Fun!
  13. I'm sure £189 is a factory fit price! Enquired when I picked my 5 mth old VRS up from dealers, quoted £289 (10mth ago) Yet to do,but the urge is getting stronger
  14. Any ideas on VRS cruise retro fitting ? The replacement stalk is around £85 , but was quoted £300 by Skoda . . . Can it be done for less without voiding warranty?
  15. Yep, only 1 pair of H7 bulbs fitted to my 61 plate black headlamp VRS, replaced for Phillips Extremes, & wound up 1/2 turn
  16. Nope! Checked tyres at home first, but my cycle tyre compresser was taking an age to put 0.1 bar in . The TPS did flash and ding after a mile of 50mph driving,to the second garage forecourt . Reset it then topped up all 4 tyres. On the drive home The TPS did not flash or ding having topped the tyres up though! Thought it would of ,as the tyre circumference would have changed with the added air.
  17. Great idea if you live in the dales or the Scottish highlands, but we are expecting 10C this weekend, Do you think the dealers gonna swap them over on Saturday, & then back again 5 days later when the temperature drops back within the winter tyres 7C or below range? He's going to be getting rich or,miffed!
  18. Ah, Yes ,tyre pressures I knew it had been a while since I'd last checked them. Had noticed that the mpg was gently heading south & that the car was a little noisier over speed bumps . . . . Had put it down to these artic temperatures Usual scenario arises . . . The Air point at the village petrol station has white van man parked in front of it, only to find out he's come to fix it ,again! At least he knew the next village forecourt air was working. :-) The lowest tyre was 1.8bar,& the highest was only 2.1bar . Oops! Also added 1 litre oil, 1st time since service 3000 miles ago , that's no thirstier than my 2.0l beetle that the Fabia replaced! :-)
  19. Don't know if you've sorted your tv issues yet? We've had YouView installed a week now, having thought about FreesatHD boxes. It works great ,they turned up with a new Nrouter ,and tweaked the line response to improve the download speed. The YouView box includes integrated Iplayer/On demand which is easily accessible from the EPG screen, even my technophobe lady can use it! :-) You can buy the box ,or if you're with BT or TalkTalk ,they do phone line+24calls+u/ltd Internet+YouView box deals for £30 all in! Then if /when the next tv thing comes along in a couple of years time you can change to that. ;-)
  20. I sure that the spare in my boot is a steel that size,so fitting 4 shouldn't be an issue  Just renewed my insurance last week too. Paid less than £250 - is that good?
  21. Fitted a pair of Philips extreme H7 bulbs to my Black lensed VRS last week ,and wound them skywards 1 whole turn A vast improvement over OEM bulbs & I'm pleased with them, but agreed ,still not HID bright
  22. AS George says brim to brim. If you fill the last bit carefully, you'll get a few extra litres in the fuel down pipe I've quite often driven 125 miles before the needle has dropped from Full I leave the maxidot on 'Journey MPG' ,so I can see it improve with each mile (usually 40-45mpg on my motorway commute) If I press the button on the underside of the stalk,to 'MPG #2' ,which I reset after each Service, its shows the long term average which is 38.9mpg
  23. Anyone got a spare one? Or are they tuppence from the stealers? Left around the engine bay whilst fitting a pair of Philips H7 Extreme bulbs,( based on forum researching),Doh! Pt# 153874
