  1. If you apply the handbrake, select 1st gear, and slowly release the clutch, will the engine rev up or cut out?
  2. Have you had the OBD scanned to see if its showing any fault codes???
  3. Yes, 500KG or thereabouts would be my normal towing...a Honda 2417 ride on Mower, rarely anything heavier, but its essential that I be able to move it around. Thanks and Best Regards, Jim
  4. Finally, I found the VIN/ Weights plate and yes, it was on the bottom of the "B" pillar, low down, and on an inward curve to the rocker / sill panel, difficult to see at nigh time, and even in good daylight also because half of it is in the shadow of the rear door. Anyway, here it is, and apologies for the delay. Thanks for all your help and Best Regards, Jim. Kodiak Piller Plate Weight 20260621_151145.heic
  5. Hi again Evolution, sorry for the delay in replying to you, but finally got the Kodiaq back from my daughter this afternoon ( if you have daughters yourself, and they borrow something just for a day or two, you will understand) Anyway, there's no such towing weight's limit plate anywhere on the car that I can see! And another member is saying the same thing. What I have discovered is : 2'000 Kg Braked Towing 2.0 tdi 4X4, 2'200 Kg Braked Towing 750 Kg unbraked towing. But I'm not finished looking yet. And as soon as I have more info, I'll get back to you. Best Regards, Jim.
  6. This is my first Skoda Kodiaq, and despite many years of driving all manner of Skoda's and while I can fit towbars no problem, I have no experience in fitting them to the Kodiaq 4x4's. I suggest you contact your nearest Skoda dealership for definite info on the subject. Personally, I cannot see why not....but with modern vehicles, you cannot tell!!! Best Regards, and let us know how you get on, OK? Thanks Best Regards, Jim
  7. While not 100% sure, I think that in the 7 seat Kodiaqs, the towbar is standard,,,when not in use, its out of sight, tucked up behind the rear bumper. A simple way to check is to lift up the tailgate, and on the drivers side rear panel, there's a small pull catch, with a hook emblem on it, and this is the release for lowering the towbar. No pull catch, no towbar. Best Regards,Jim.
  8. Yes, that I will do for sure!! I've enough experience dealing with insurance assessors in the past to know that they will not leave any stone upturned in their efforts to reduce or better still, deny a claim!! Best Regards, Jim
  9. Update on my Kodiaq listed as a 4x4, but in reality is only a FWD... So finally I got the Registration Document ( V 5 in the UK? ) and its listed as a JEEP/ESTATE.. no mention of 4x4 anywhere, and true 1x0. So in due course, I contacted the insurance, and informed them that the car was not an 4x4, but they insisted that when they inputted the reg nr. that what came up was it was a 4x4, and it was on that basis that they were insuring it on. So I said OK, fine by me, as long as if I ever have a claim, you wont try to wriggle out of it based on your assessment of it being wrong. So here we are....Car is a delight to drive, handles very well on the road, plenty of power (for my needs at any rate) Even the 6/7 th. seat's are very comfortable, surprisingly so. They are not something that I would pick by choice, but in the Kodiaq, they work. Thanks again for the help, Regards, Jim.
  10. Judging by the pic, that will need repairing by someone with experience..the sill panel is actually split away from the floor pan.,,so a lift, and a MIG welder will be needed. But at least you have caught it in time.....and while its on the lift, give it a thorough inspection for any other lurking rust problems. Good Luck, and Best Regards, Jim.
  11. What does this update file do? Thanks, Jim,
  12. Yes Bap, I contacted the dealer today about the registration docs, only to be told that the they had yet to receive the docs themselves from the previous owner! But they assure me that I will have the registration doc by next wednesday..... In any case, a very helpful Briskoda member named Pete, deciphered the VIN, and now I have proof that my Kodiak is indeed a front wheel drive, code 1XO. Next stop, contact the insurance again, and persuade them that the car is a FWD instead of their listed AWD. Fun times ahead!! Thanks and Best Regards, Jim
  13. Thats the plan Warrior,,,I have until 27 June to re-insure, and for now I wait for the return of the Veh Registration doc, and see what designation that gives my FWD Kodiak. Thanks for replying, Best Regards, Jim.
  14. Skomaz, I've already tried several insurers, but some are the same as the present insurer, at €800, some even higher. Seems that they are all using the same specs....as standard.
  15. I've entered the VIN code into several so called Free Vin Decoder's, but all reduce the free part to paid subscription averaging £30. Now when the tax office return the vehicle registration docs, I'll check the info on them, and if that fails, I'll go for the paid subscription one. Any recommendations on good decoders? Thanks and Best Regards, Jim
