Well no feedback from the Forum, but a call to their customer services line was greeted by the service desk person explaining how difficult it was and that it needed and engineer to come on site to update it. Not sure how that will fit in with network security, but frankly it means even if I do lock this one down and live with it, they won't be appearing anywhere I work/recommend if I have any say in the matter.

I had it confirmed by Kyocera on a phone call that it's an on site visit from a qualified support partner and that I can't register to get the software to do it (Even if I offered to pay for training). Bonkers. Now considering two options of: - Send it back and replace with a workcentre 6515dn - Surrounding the kyocera with firewall options and locking down the services on there and running it until the 2 year warranty expires, then sell it on or junk it. The Running costs are so much lower, that it's a serious option once you've used the starter toner and one set of (the single sized) toner cartridges. I have to say I really like brother printers, but at this point in their product lifecycle, they don't have anything that fits my need and isn't massive. Be interesting to see how you get on with the Xerox. (If you're ordering Toner too, drop me a PM as I have a 10% for that site )

Just purchased a Kyocera and I'm just about to send it back as an end user can't update the firmware, which is rediculous on a network device. I've been ignored by Kyocera support and their customer support number either promises to come back (and doesn't) or goes through the menues and ends in a dead line. Bar the cheap running costs (Which only matter once you've covered the higher printer cost), I don't currently see a lot going for it. The official reply I had from the supplier, was that Kyocera don't issue firmware updates unless you contact technical support with a problem and then when they do it is an engineer install job. I've started a thread asking if anyone knows otherwise, but if not, it's going back tomorrow. On the Xerox, be careful, as the prices shown are only when you use the extra high yield cartridges, with the high yield ones being a reasonable bit more expensive and the standard yield ones being eye-wateringly so. (IMHO) EDIT: FWIW I am looking at colour, so running costs may differ with the B&W cartridges, but worth checking still.

Has anyone on here got experience with getting firmware for Kyocera both in and out of warranty? As far as I can see only authorised service companies can download it and an end user can't update it. This appears also to be the line from Kyocera, who just won't answer the questions about network security. Obviously the printer is very cheap to run (You can run it for 2 years and only 5000 pages and be far enough ahead to junk the printer and start again), but if it's a huge security hole on the network, then that's a different problem. Is anyone here a certified engineer or has them at work and knows how to get around this problem. If not it will be a case of firewall the hell out of it, run it for 2 years and hope... or send it back.

I have sadly heard there is no TPI from one dealer, then you go to another and they immediately find it and are fantastically helpful. As always it’s the quality of the local dealer rather than the size of the glass palace that matters.

It resets itself if the new battery is good. Was the one you replaced it with new and from a reputable source?

Before starting on the above, you may wish to purchase a small roll of clear repair tape etc and cover the ingress areas shown in the PDF. You can then test the roof to see if it leaks with these areas temporarily covered and conclude if it's leaking there or elsewhere. Obviously it's far from a permanant solution, but if it does work, then you could show the dealer what is happening or try the solution using the sealant above is something worth a try before having to spend big on a new frame. EDIT: Actually looking at the price direct (http://www.captaintolley.com/), you might as well just try with any tape you have and then buy some of that to dry if there is any sort of improvement from the tape. I would suggest a cable tie to tighten up the joint as a first pass. mainly as it is easily removable if it doesn’t solve the problem.

Oh dear.. without details, that sounds like the way people used to mess up the tensioner... Hopefully the dealer you are talking to will get somewhere with Skoda U.K. If not CAB or the motoring press might be a good idea.

What did we start with tea bag? Just need the get the mod known as “tea bagging the <car marque>” now 😂. Just remember to keep more of an eye on the coolant once it’s gone.

All I will say is be careful not to put too much braking force at the rear, as otherwise the car can be very unpredictable under braking. sure you know this anyway, but worth repeating.

If it’s coming out of the bonnet release handle, then I would suggest water is making it there. Have you cleared out the drain lines themselves? Also what about testing a bit of water to see if the leak is from the skuttle area rather that the roof?

The battery does say Silver AGM dynamic... the AGM being hard to see, but it’s in silver on the top label. As such it’s a start stop battery, although it wouldn’t surprise me if a Used car dealer had a Car with a dead battery and put what they could get from a catalogue on the car. catalogues can be wrong..

There have been people who don't set tensioners correctly, potentially overtension them. These can either let go/cause the belt to fail prematurely or if insufficiently tensioned skip later down the line. It is possible and I have heard it in the past from a dealer, but I couldn't say what's going on in this case?

Anyone got one and if so what are your thoughts? they seem to have a capacity about 50% larger than most others of the same size and currently around half the price of an equivalent Bosch.
