  1. hi , I have had my fab vrs for 2 weeks and am trying to sort out some windscreen washer issues. sorry to start a new post but I could not find anything similar. basically I had to reattach rear pipes and fit a new pump and fit new front jets to get everything working. have just been out in the car in the rain and if I used the rear washer and then tried to use the front washer water would still come out of the rear. if I waited about a minute then I could pull the lever and water would come out of the front. weird, any advice ? my pump was a couple of quid from eBay so should I just live with it ? or is it sign of failure to come ? also my other main problem is that whilst getting my tyres changed yesterday it was found that a number of bolts had been cross threaded on one of the rear hubs by the previous owner. am happy to take this in to the garage as I would like it sorted. am I looking at a big outlay? had bearings / hubs done in the past on a focus and it was about 70 quid. is it easy enough to get a new set of skoda bolts ? also, the brakes seem to stop me well but don't feel as sharp as other cars i have had. I am thinking of getting a fluid change and pads and discs on the rear as they are grinding slightly. will I notice much of an improvement in brake feel if I get them sorted or do the fabia brakes always feel a bit vague ? sorry lots of questions, and bad grammar as I am typing on my phone. cheers. dug
  2. thanks, not sure why but for the life of me couldn't find any on eBay last night.
  3. anyone know where I can get some suitable springs to solve this problem ?
  4. where can I get some of these springs, finding it hard to find some.
  5. seemed to not really do it today and overall the car was lovely
  6. Mmmm so maybe not to worry for now. thanks all. very happy to be part of the vrs clan .
  7. thanks for the reply. it doesn't seem to do it at idle, only every so often when I flick the throttle at low speeds. not a very long sound and my girlfriend struggled to hear it. maybe its the boost pipes as I have read on here they seem to come loose . car drives well even when it does its little chirp. sadly my diagnostics tool got burnt in a fire last month in my old car.
  8. by the way it is in addition to the normal noise of the turbo. kind of sounds like wind or someone actually whistling.
  9. hi all, just got a vrs yesterday and a bit worried about a slight whistle it has now and again at low revs. mainly happens when accelerating gently around town and disappears at load. sounds a bit like this but not as bad m.youtube.com/watch?v=Aog5kQtGv8k is it a lemon
  10. just wondering what sort of mileage these cars will go on to do. should I be concerned about buying one with 80k plus on it. looking for something that will last me 4 to 5 years.
  11. one thing I did not check was the trip computer. too busy checking other things on the drive but not sure I remember seeing anything in the left hand display . how do the computers on these work? is there an option to have the display off ?
  12. thank you padrino. useful advice. I forgot to mention that it has just had the timing belt done by the dealer. Yeah it was nice but as you say a bit highly priced... maybe i'll wait and see if it takes a while to sell.
  13. thanks for the advice - i realise the price will be slightly inflated by the dealer but it comparison to many others on the market it is similarly priced and cheaper than quite a few as well. I just dont want to miss one but equally don't want to pick a lemon just for comparison the one I looked at is the top link: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201213459975658/sort/locasc/usedcars/price-from/1000/price-to/8000/model/fabia/make/skoda/keywords/vrs/postcode/bs91qx/radius/100/page/1?logcode=p http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201216464414146/sort/locasc/usedcars/price-from/1000/price-to/8000/model/fabia/make/skoda/keywords/vrs/radius/100/postcode/bs91qx/page/2?logcode=p http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201212457920290/sort/locasc/usedcars/price-from/1000/price-to/8000/model/fabia/make/skoda/keywords/vrs/postcode/bs91qx/radius/100/page/1?logcode=p http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201217466586587/sort/locasc/usedcars/price-from/1000/price-to/8000/model/fabia/make/skoda/keywords/vrs/postcode/bs91qx/radius/100/page/1?logcode=p
  14. Hello All, Sorry if this thread is in the wrong place but I am after some advice on buying a mk1 Fabia VRS. Any common things to look out for on these? I went for a test drive and viewing of my first one today and really liked it, is a 55plate with 38000 miles for just under 7 grand from a main dealer. However noticed a couple of things that I would prefer to be sorted for the price they are asking, or maybe you guys can tell me if I am being too picky. It had the leaky door seals which to be honest I was expecting as this seems to affect everyone. How much of an issue of this and how easily sorted? The carpets weren't soaking but were slightly damp, bottoms of the rear doors were leaking fairly badly. Discs fairly worn and lipped all round, pads looked a little low but not terrible. Again for that price I would prefer all these replaced, am I being unreasonable? Thirdly the oil was pretty black with a little bit of gunk under the filler cap. I gather that oil in a diesel can be blacker but this had just been changed. Is this normal or cause for concern? chuurs Doug
