  1. Have you ever tested it? Or you've only copied speeds claimed by manufacturer ? Another thing is - not sequential speeds matter but random ones. Speeds you mentioned (seq) are easy to achieve with traditional HHD (in RAID0). But these random speeds - whatever the configuration of HDDs, whatever quick they are they will never in thousands of years match SSD. Just to briefly explain - your OS and many files are rather small. Therefore random reads can be something like 17MB/s- 35MBs @4KB (value-good SSD). They are nothing like speeds you mentioned and such high speed are only achievable when you work with large files (say you move divx). But still these speeds are way superior to random speeds of HDD - that s why you... ... see exactly this . I did some test SSD vs HDD, different configs some time ago. Can show some results - they are rather interesting
  2. This Kingston isn't rather a "performer" - I'd go somewhere else.
  3. And what's the profile height of this 13"? And of course - it's cornering. You may laugh but I noticed a difference on the same model of tire but with higer speed ratio - when I upgraded my H to W tires - a lot of different car But going back to rim size and tire profile - what will be stiffer - a steel wheel @300mm DIA and 50mm rubber OR steel wheel @200mm DIA and 100mm rubber? What will be easier to balance - more rubber or less rubber. Yes, it's a lot of this bling but it's also improved driving accuracy (not quality )
  4. Skoda today announced that its flagship model, the Superb, has managed to pass the 500,000 units production landmark, with the carmnaker’s Kvasiny plant in the Czech Republic bringing the milestone vehicle to the world. Read more here. Impressive, isn't it?
  5. Personally I wouldn't touch it with 10m pole . I don't mind buying some cheap/no name stuff. But when we talk about data I'm extremly critical about the memory I use. Have seen/read enough  . Moneywise - it's extremly well priced - friend just bought Sandisk 32GB for the sam money and it was already cheapest on the market
  6. I can understand the frustration as you'd have thought as a client you buy what YOU want, not what Skoda want to sell you. But from the other point of view - you're concerned about the size but not brand/thread, etc. Moreover you'd be fine with 17" but you say you'll notice the difference compared to 18". IMVHO you've assumed a few factors completly wrongly. As I mentioned earlier, noise depends very much on tires you've got. I bet, if you put the same tire on 16" and 18" rim, you wouldn't be able to hear any difference. Personaly the only source of noise in case of 18" I can think of is the noise made by suspension as the suspension will work "harder" with 40 profile tire compared with 50 profile - but TBH you'd have to have some noise meter in your ears to hear the difference . My only concern with 18" is - the cost of replecement tire and better chance to do some harm to the rim using some rural roads. Other than this I can see only advantages - better sticking to the road, being less influenced by side winds, etc. Finaly - if you are really unhappy with 18" sell them and buy some 16" - what you get for 18" should cover 16" costs.
  7. Exactly. Remember it quite well from my childhood
  8. From my experience it's far way easier to find a decent dentist than to find a good car mechanic
  9. Sorry to hear about your problems with the car. Just from reading this forum I gathered that issues with DSG are very common and are repaired under warranty. Timing chain - wow, you'd say it should last forever and I thought problems with tensioners were only in 1.2TSI... If I were you I'd be contacting Skoda directly as this simply shouldn't have happend in a 3 years old car. In general I just wonder what has happened to all this modern technology - better accuracy, better materials, better everything and still results are pretty poor. I own a Vectra since new and number of problems I experienced, well, I simply wasn't expecting that many. I am very anxious about my potential future with Skoda, especially when I read posts like yours...
  10. Plus we don't know if it was petrol/diesel - I'm not sure about 2.2, but 2.0 diesel comes from Mondeo and it is old, good 2.0 TDCi with its pros and cons

    Hello

Just joined this elite forum, though I spent a few weeks reading before making any decisions. Now, when the car is ordered I decided it's a good time to become a part of this forum - however I hope not because of problems my future Skoda can cause .
  12. Ordered exactly the same spec and was told 16-18 weeks... But depending on dealer it was 10-14 weeks.
