  1. This didn't work for me unfortunately. Replaced both microswitches. 2005 Beetle so it was a nightmare of a job with the steel door liners etc. They both worked briefly then stopped again. Stripped the passenger door and lock down again, tested the microswitch with a multimeter and it worked perfectly so I'm guessing the motors themselves must have been causing the fault. Lost patience in the end and installed 2 pin switches into the sides of the dash instead. Job done!
  2. Looks good. What happened to the banded steels though?
  3. I'm well jealous! Was in Florida last summer and everyone drives pickups around with no silencers.
  4. Beautiful looking car which will only ever go up in value. Glad you got rid of the boxter alloys though!
  5. You doing the timing belt etc before you slot the engine in Trev or has it recently had one?
  6. Impossible! I looked at a range rover a few years back that had all its wood trim flocked. It probably looked good when it was first done but when I viewed it was just covered in dust and fluff. The owner said it was a nightmare to keep looking good and basically just a dust trap.
  7. Looks a million times better on the coilovers. Amazing what a few extra mm can do lol! I wait in anticipation for you to sort that grill out.
  8. Crikey. It's easy to forget how bad it was!
  9. Was always tempted to dye my seat centres / cards black but never had the balls to do it as they were mint. Why Skoda went through that phase of white fabric interiors I'll never know.
  10. Nice find. That front grill looks massive all black! Is it plastidip or paint?
  11. What you want for it posted? Presuming it works that is. Thanks.
  12. Do you have a diverter (dump) valve by any chance?
  13. Nice work Trevor. I'm guessing this one is going to be more of a fast road / occasional track day car rather than a full on track car like the last one?
  14. Bmw used to set their odometers to 99,997 miles or there abouts when the vehicles were built. This used to allow for the mechanics to do a 3 mile test drive etc so when they handed the car over to the customer it would be on 0 miles. This was obviously back in the mechanical odometer days when they only used to read up to 100k miles.
  15. What do you do with the 2 solenoids / valves? Leave them plugged in or replace with resisters? Many thanks.
  16. Hope you don't mind me asking but what's the score with removing the n249 valve? I've just bought a beetle 1.8t and it's suffering with turbo chatter. Fault scanner says that the dump valve isn't working but I'm thinking of bypassing the n249 valve anyway so it's probably a good place to start. Thanks.
  17. I think it all depends what you are trying to achieve tbh mate. The rods are realistically the only weak point of the 1.8t so if you are after uping the power then they are generally the place that most people start as the standard rods are only good for about 280bhp I believe.
  18. So.... Range Rover has gone and I've got a new toy / project. Yes it's a 1.8t! Few mechanical jobs and a tiny bit of bodywork then hopefully a set of coilovers and Porsche wheels are on the to do list for this year. Next year... try and make it as fast as the Skoda was!! I knew I couldn't have a sensible car for long!
  19. It's bad enough just curbing a wheel. You must be devastated. On the plus side, with it being painted recently it shouldn't be too hard to blend the paint.
  20. Looking good Rob. What colour is the flake as the car almost looks purple in some of the pics?
