Variable Boot Floor
Right, here are some measurements. I've done them in Imperial as they are easier to read for me than metric. I hope that doesn't pose any problems. It would be sensible to check my measurements for yourself before you start measuring out or cutting materials. The photos I included in the thread earlier on may help you understand the measurements. The area you are wanting to cover is not square, so some fine tuning of shape will be needed. Here we go. Front to back: centre - 27 9/16ths; edge - 26 3/4s. Side to side: front - 39 5/16ths; back 39 1/8th There is a hinge 6 1/2 inches from the rear edge of the raised floor to allow you to lift it up for access to the space below. For the height of your supports at the rear, measure up to the bottom of the lip behind the hatchback catch. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more info.

Variable Boot Floor
Yes, I'll measure it tomorrow, weather permitting. The whole thing is quite basic and I had thought it would be something you could raise and lower, either through hydraulics or by a scissors mechanism.

Amundsen navigation screen blanks and locks
There have been posts before about the Amundsen navigation screen blanking and locking, but I've been unable to find them. Recently when using the Amundsen navigation system on my Kamiq SEL, the central route display blanked out and came up with just a clock. A message also flashed up about sharing my location to which I replied OK. I found I could still get the small route display on the dash display in front of me but without sound but that the main display just remained black with a clock in the centre, which we could change for another clock! All attempts to get the home screen up or the radio or navigation or other screens on the central display failed. At our destination, after turning the ignition off and then on again and pressing the on/off icon on the central display, the route display reappeared, complete with sound, Can anyone explain this, please?

Selecting alternative route with Amundsen
Well, after more experimenting I found out how to do this. All the routes have a time of travel shown in a box on the route. For the preferred route, this is the actual travel time, e.g. 1h 23m. For the alternative routes, it shows the difference between the preferred route time and the alternative route's time, so if the alternative route takes 1h 34m, the box shows +11m. To select the alternative route for your journey, tap on the "time difference" box of that route. Unfortunately, only a few miles into our journey, the console map display was replaced by a black screen and a clock, which nothing could get rid of until we had reached out destination! Fortunately, the dashboard display I use offered me a smaller display between the rev counter and the speedometer to follow, but no spoken instructions. The wonders of modern technology!

Selecting alternative route with Amundsen
The Amundsen in my Kamiq is the third satnav I have used, two Garmins and now the Amundsen. The first Garmin, a 2610 Street Pilot I bought about 2003, was dead easy to use and he display was clear and well set out with goo use of colour, albeit very small. The next Garmin, a NUvi something or other was faster, had a bigger screen but with poor layout and poor use of colour. I got the impression that the software writers and screen designers probably had little or no experience of driving a car. The Amundsen has convinced me that the people responsible for its design and software and operation, had not only never driven a car but probably had never ridden in one. And the downloaded manual doesn't help much. So can someone tell me how to select a route o drive where the satnav offers more than? My Amundsen is showing three possible routes, the fastest as the preferred route and two others, one of which I want to use. Tapping on that route to select it doesn't appear to do anything other than set me off on the preferred route.

Playing Music SD Card
I've read this thread with great interest as the Fabia the Kamiq has replaced had a CD drive in it. Obviously, I will need to copy my CDs to the USB drive, apparently track by track, but once on the drive is there some way I can select a track or do I just have to start at the beginning and play to the end?

Variable Boot Floor
Glad to help. I imagine that you may need to have it dealer fitted, that fastener isn't your usual straightforward sort for most people. It will give yo a day out!

Variable Boot Floor
Here we are. There appear to be no fixings to the boot floor, so there are just the four fixings all old, two through each of the "rests", one at each side. Max weight for the floor to take is 75kg if I remember right. Hope these help. Variable floor in place Variable floor raised Overall view "Rest", one per side Attachment method, two per rest

Missing an update?
I wondered about that one but discounted it as it refers to the 26th and 27th January and the message I had was there about 08:00 on the 25th. Also, I took that to refer to an outage on the Skoda Connect app (which there certainly was on those days, 26th and 27th) and that the update of data referred to was data being transferred from the car to the App and Portal whereas the message I had referred to a download. Surely, too, if there had been an update take place, there would have been a notification of it succeeding.

Missing an update?
Last Monday, the 25th, when I turned on the ignition of my Kamiq there was a warning message that an update download had been aborted because the car battery charge was low. The battery charge problem was solved by a round trip of 80+ miles for my Covid 19 jab, but I haven't yet had any notification about there being an update waiting to be downloaded or an update having been downloaded. Does anyone know what this update was, please?

Variable Boot Floor
The variable boot floor is pretty basic in its design and simply sits on a couple or so "rests". There is no hinging mechanism and no system which causes it to raise or lower; ii's all manual and if you want to use the full boot depth, then you life the variable floor out and stow it somewhere in the garage or house etc. The "rests" would need fixing - I think they are screwed in - but that's all. I imagine that the holes are already there for the screws behind the boot lining. All in all, because of a back problem I need the higher boot floor, but it is rather basic. I had imagined that it would be variable in such a way that you could raise it and lower, e,g, by some mechanical or hydraulic system rather than having to physically remove it. I will be in the car later today, so I'll try to remember to take a photo of the "rests" and post them here later today.

Skoda Kamiq driving seat height
Thanks for the info. There seem to be very mixed reviews on some of these products/sellers, so I'll stick to the foam cushion inner I've been using for the moment.

Skoda Kamiq driving seat height
Thank you for that information. 2-3 inches will be about right for me, too, I think. I see there are a number of these shown on eBay which look interesting. Did you go for the cut out on non cut out version?

Skoda Kamiq driving seat height
I'm using the low tech solution at the present, but it isn't ideal.

Skoda Kamiq driving seat height
Like other drivers here I find that the maximum seat height on the Kamiq is on the low side, especially when parking or other manoeuvres where space is tight. I had a test drive before buying and also sat in a demo model at another dealer's and the seat height seemed OK. I wonder if electric height adjustable front seat has a higher maximum height than the manually adjustable version. In addition, the fact that as you raise the manually adjusted seat height the seat moves rearwards goes some way to negate the increase in height, but in fairness to Skoda, this happens with other makes. Browsing eBay recently, I came across this item: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164398252242 and wondered if anyone had tried this solution (it certainly seems popular with Range Rover users in the feedback). I wonder, too, if there are implications as regards warranty and insurance.

New Owner - WLAN & Reverse park braking question
I think manoeuvre braking only operates if you are, for example, reversing out of a parking space and the car sensors pick up a vehicle approaching from a blind spot. There is an audible warning and the rear quarter from which the other vehicle is coming flashes red and your car brakes automatically. I don't think it works if you are backing towards or moving towards an object, e.g. a bollard or wall, which is static and in your line of view; the car leaves the driver to do that. It would be nice if the car did it though.

Refitting Skoda Kamiq glove box
Postscript: I discovered that the rattle/vibration was coming from the dash cam which is attached to the windscreen by a sucker system. Removing and refitting this solved he problem, although my wife says there is still a minor noise coming from the cable in the headlining.

Refitting Skoda Kamiq glove box
Just to tidy up loose ends, the ways the glove box is fitted in the Kamiq and the Scala are quite different, as is the design of the glove box. The Scala is air-conditioned which may sound unnecessary but I found this facility on the Fabia Estate I had before my Kamiq very useful at times.

Refitting Skoda Kamiq glove box
Many thanks for that link which I'll follow up although I was just returning here to post that I had managed to restore the glove box to its rightful position earlier today. With better light from an LED work lamp, I was able to see that the right hand projection that held the glove box in place was abut 2mm further back than the left hand one. By pushing up the left hand button with a screwdriver I was able to get that side of the glove box held in place although not fully in. I repeated this with the right hand button and then gave the whole glove box a hard push and after the second or third attempt, it slotted fully back into place. It will be useful to check that5 this is the correct method. I still have no idea where the rattle/vibration comes from.
