  1. I have found two conditions where it works best - in traffic towards the end of a journey - i.e. when the car is fully warmed up - and when you have been "drifting" along in "disconnect" mode and come to a stop from that. Like lastgasp, I have also found that pressing the brake pedal after stopping sometimes does the trick. One thing to remember (or maybe to know) is that stop/start is very sensitive to the demand made on the battery. I have noticed that stop/start can kick in but id I then, say, turn on an indicator or the dashcam starts charging, the engine starts up again because it has felt the extra demand made on the battery.
  2. Doesn't fit my experience with my 2020 Kamiq 1.0 SEL DSG, although I understand that some items (have been deleted since because of supply problems. Good acceleration in D, good, no excellent, economy (up to 62mpg on a 44 mile journey recently) and 52-54mpg is usual for any journey over 40 or so miles and on shorter distances too. If you mean about automatic central locking when driving, there is surely a control below the main central display with a lock symbol on to engage or disengage this on a "permanent"basis? I did find pickup from standstill was slow initially, but as the car settles in (and the driver gets used to the fact they have a different car) things improve. As it's an automatic, just lifting your foot off the brake in D should cause the car to start pulling away.

how do i do that? I can only say how for a 2020 Skoda Kamiqand you appear to have a 2015 Octavia.
  4. It's the cost and complexity of registering for exporting to the UK that puts suppliers off in the EU.
  5. I live at Scarborough and the sea is about half a mile away horizontally and a couple of hundred feet down. The car is three years old with about 19,000 miles on the clock abd main roads are gritted in the winter. Looking at the rear discs and comparing them with marineboy's photo (first post), I would say that there is no more than the outer circle of wear/marking on my discs compared with his. Rubbing this with a dry piece of kitchen towel, shows that at least some of this is black dust/dirt. As regards removing rust from discs, driving a short distance slowly with your foot on the brake pedal will clean front and rear discs together.
  6. If you set privacy to minimum and your car is pinched, I understand that it can be tracked while moving through Skoda.
  7. I'm sure that you weren't, hence my suggestion that your comment might be in fun. This is the problem with the internet and why it can generate so much friction (or why it can purposely be used to generate friction by some people, though not yourself), there is nothing other than the writer's words, whereas if you were in the same room and were speaking together, there would be facial and body movements and voice intonation to convey/add to the meaning of what was being said. Even in a 'phone conversation, the tone and inflection of the speaker's voice confirms the context of what they were saying. My apologies to you, too, as re-reading what I wrote, I was somewhat hard on you.
  8. I'm not sure whether you're trying to be humorous or rude, but as this is a general Skoda issue, there is no reason why an owner of a model other than a Kamiq shouldn't comment on the issue to help clarify things. As for confusing the situation, Modders icon on the post does clearly say he owns a Karoq and so that is the car he is talking about.
  9. Still there for me.

As they say, every little helps.

I think there's been an earlier thread on this. My 2020 Kamiq has one.
  12. I raised it because I was missing access to the app and had also noticed the change in name, from Skoda Connect to Skoda Essentials. What the updates are, other than the name and icon, I've no idea.
  13. With a full load of passengers and luggage, pressures are 2.6 front and 3.2 rear. Otherwise, pressures are 2.5 all round. Three sets of tyre pressures are listed vertically, but they refer to different wheel sizes (and,. in fact, do not vary with the wheel size). As I've said, I've had this problem both with a Fabia and the Kamiq and when I raised it with the garage in the case of the latter as it had happened three times in about three months (only twice in 90,000 miles with the Fabia) they did not seem surprised and had obviously dealt with the problem before as they said it might require more than one visit to sort it.
  14. I'm not sure I follow you.
  15. I've had the same problem recently with my 2020 Kamiq SEL, TPMS warning, all tyres highlighted on the display, all tyre pressures the same (sometimes 2.5 bar, occasionally 2.4 bar). I mentioned it when my car was in for service and I was told it would be looked at but it might take more than one visit to solve the problem, so it's a know problem. As it happened, the problem seems to have been solved first time. With m,y 2011 Fabia Estate, I had some false alarms with the TPMS (no vehicle display with that to show which tyre) and they always occurred after going over a bump, e.g. the expansion gap on a motorway bridge. The suggestion was that this had unbalanced the car and one wheel had come clear of the road, fooling the TOMS into thinking that that tyre had lost pressure.
  16. I contacted Skoda support and they replied: "Dear Gordon Whitehead, Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We apologize for the inconvenience caused. The new MySkoda Essentials app has been released and we would like to ask you to delete the app, restart your mobile device and to install MySkoda Essentials app again. After that, please try and log in. If the problem persists, please provide us with the following additional information: - A screenshot of the last error message received, including the associated timestamp (date and time of the error message). - Your app version. - Your smartphone model and its operating system. As soon as we receive this information, we will forward them to our technical department for further analysis. We thank you for your cooperation. With kind regards," I did as they suggested and all now seems to be OK. However, the name Skoda Essentials does have a basic, cut down ring to it.
  17. Thanks, Modders, I'll follow that up.
  18. I noticed this morning that the Skoda Connect icon on my mobile now says Skoda Essentials. In addition, attempts to logon always come up with server not available, (And, yes, my 'phone is connected to the internet.) Has anyone else had this change in name of the app and/or problems connecting?
  19. I've no idea what a DQ200 is, but when the engine disengages from the gearbox, the display shows D.
  20. The Kamiq display is quite different from those.
  21. With the Kamiq, you can, it appears, only disable the "coasting function" by driving in S mode.
  22. I have had a 1.0 SEL DSG Kamiq new from June, 2020, and am very pleased with it, Your driving style sounds pretty similar to mine and using E10 (the recommended rating and also better for the environment than E5, and cheaper) I find a trip of any length usually turns in economy around 53mpg. Recent examples are: 224 miles, 53,2mpg 180 miles, 55.3mpg 73 miles, 51.3 mpg In fact, figures are very consistent. For example, I regularly do a trip of 55 miles and economy is nearly always 53.3mpg and I can expect the same figure on another regular trip of 181 miles. On shorter runs, economy is also good: 3 miles, 35,3mpg 2 miles, 39.2 mpg 3 miles, 32.4mpg 10 miles, 46.3mpg Those figures are from cold. DSG is smooth and car is quiet. In the D (detached) option where the car travels with the engine detached from the gearbox, it is pretty much silent.

I find it easy enough to keep an eye on it in my dashboard layout and, in any case, the orange light draws your attention to it; it still, also, adjusts the car's direction.
  24. Seasider replied to a post in a topic in Škoda Kamiq
There is an icon at the bottom of the dashboard display of two lines with a car between them. One or other of the lines goes orange if you stray too far.
  25. That I have never noticed. I will look more carefully in future. Thank you.
