    Tough?

And I was rather hoping our Yeti would stand up better to the appalling third-world roads round here these days - potholes, ruts, collapsing road-edges etc. Looks like the suspension's going to hit as hard as any other car then.
  2. Let's not forget the considerable difference between the cost of Audi parts and labour and Skoda parts and labour - for pretty much exactly the same thing. Audi customers are special - it's important that they realise how special they are by overcharging them and making them feel even more special.
  3. But not unless you're going to be using it for a decent length of time at a decent speed from time to time - town drivers beware! Check out the DPF requirements.
  4. If that's typical of the work done by this 'VW approved bodyshop' I'd be looking for somewhere else! Or maybe getting it unapproved. Have you contacted Skoda UK about this? It's appalling treatment of a customer - any customer, but particularly a regular customer.
  5. I think the problem's in the folder structure. On the PC the folders are the artists' names, and in each of those folders there are the relevant tracks. So a compilation CD would find its tracks split into the relevant artists' folders. Somehow, I suspect, I'm going to need to find a way to change each folder so that it follows the name of the CD, with the tracks from that CD inside the folder. There must be a simple way to do that - but it's late, and I can't immediately see one! [Found the answer now - Windows Media Player!]
  6. 2015 Facelift Yeti. Around 250 subfolders in one main folder. I wonder if getting rid of the top folder might sort it.
  7. Has anyone any idea why it seems possible only to display (and use) music folders from A to O? Music folders copied and pasted from PC, and all the folders are there on the card, each one for a different artist and running from A to Z. The Bolero displays only artists/folders from A to O - though it will go a little further if I delate some of the folders. Nothing in the manual, or that I can find online. Is there something I'm missing about the number of folders it will display? And is there a way round it?
  8. According to this piece on 'You and Yours' (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b066f7zk) you need to be in close proximity to the key (or have temporary access to it - such a car valet) for this to work. No mention of its being restricted to kessy-style keyless access systems, though.
  9. Maybe they're just trying to breed?
  10. Good point. Only £17 or so though, and it's a useful thing to have around for the future. Will save a fair bit of time on what will probably be an unnecessary trip to the dealer too. Interested in your warranty claim - no fuss on replacing it?

    Flat battery?

Thanks for that. Similar situation here - at least so far. Battery now fully charged (thanks to the very useful CTEK charger) and although the TPM light continued to flash for a short time, it had cleared itself within half a mile. Still puzzled by the sudden flat battery, but it's now showing as fully charged, and it seems to be holding it. I'll check it out properly under load with a tester due to arrive on Sunday from Amazon - don't trust it at the moment, but reluctant to shell out on a new one unless absolutely necessary. I'll make a warranty claim if it needs replacing - that should be interesting! :sun:

  13. Found the battery completely flat this afternoon, after first spotting the Tyre Pressure Monitor light. All tyres fine, so no apparent problem there. Battery is only 18 months old (as is the Yeti) and has been looked after with a Ctek charger. Now the TPM light is flashing, which indicates a fault - "If the warning light flashes , there is a system fault." Any thoughts please? Is there a likely link between the strange and sudden flat battery and the flashing light?

    Flat battery?

What happened in the end? I'm interested because the battery in our Yeti's just failed for no apparent reason. All fine yesterday, and I keep it topped up reasonably often with a CTEK charger, but dead today. Car's only 18 months old, with a very low mileage but used regularly. TPI warning (all the tyres were fine) was the first sign of trouble but I'm now assuming that was set off by the low battery, rather than causing it.
  15. Halfords will make it up for you if you need it quickly: Car Paint Mixing ServiceUsing our 48 basic mixing colours and your vehicle manufacturer's formulations, Halfords can provide you with a professional quality colour match and can offer you every colour under the sun. Halfords can provide you with paint to match the colour of your car so long as you have the colour code information from your vehicle. Colour codes are normally found on the identification plate, which can be located under the bonnet, in the boot, or inside the door frame on the driver's side of the vehicle. When you have given us the colour code, we can then provide you with a matching paint. Halfords supply car paints in various forms such as touch up tins, aerosols, 500ml and 1 litre tins for spray guns. Halfords specialist car paint mixing service starts from just £9.99 (€11.99), and is only available in selected stores.
  16. Is there a pattern to these rust spots, I wonder? Has it been narrowed down to any particular year/month/colour etc? Any kind of database maintained anywhere (apart from SUK)?

    Touch-up paint

Having said that, I've now found these from Halfords: Halfords Skoda 'Black Magic' Scratch & Chip Repair Kit - £11.99 http://www.halfords.com/motoring-travel/cleaning-body-repair/scratch-repair-paint-restorers/halfords-skoda-black-magic-scratch-chip-repair-kit Black Magic, Candy White, Brilliant Silver and Diamond Silver only, by the looks of it (£8.49 for the Candy White) - just one review, and that positive. Also: Halfords Skoda Candy White Car Spray Paint 300ml - £6.49 http://www.halfords.com/motoring-travel/cleaning-body-repair/car-spray-paints/halfords-skoda-candy-white-car-spray-paint--300ml Black Magic, Candy White and Brilliant Silver only. These all look considerably better value than the Skoda products if you happen to have one of the colours stocked - and I've always had good experiences with Halfords touch-up products in the past. Another, cheaper, option, perhaps?

    Touch-up paint

Thanks for the advice guys. Local Skoda dealer charges £15 for a touch-up kit - seems incredibly expensive to me for a tiny little paint kit, but can't find a decent cheaper alternative.

Any recommendations please? Main dealer or eBay? Or somewhere else?
  20. Been using a CTEK 7.0 for some years now - incredible piece of kit. Batteries always in perfect condition as a result - though I've always connected them straight to the battery. Interested in the replies to this - never thought of using the cigarette lighter. Always assumed there was a risk of damaging electronics.
  21. I'm not at all sure the Driver Power survey is the best guide to reliability - given that it's based entirely on reviews by readers. The Which? reliability guide (also based on reader reviews) rates the Yeti quite poorly. Probably the best guide is the Warranty Direct index - simply because it's based on hard fact (warranty claims) rather than opinion. It rates the Yeti quite poorly for reliability: http://www.reliabilityindex.com/reliability/search/324 Interestingly, it shows owners rating it a lot better! Have we got blinkers on, I wonder?
  22. My Yeti was only a few months old when it happened last December, and it hasn't happened since. I doubt the wiring could have chafed in just a few months and a couple of thousand miles, but I'll certainly bear that in mind should it happen again - thanks. In your situation I'd be looking for Skoda to offer what VW used to call a Goodwill Claim - particularly if you've got some evidence to confirm what the technician said.
  23. Almost certainly not. There are also one or two potential insurance issues (resolvable) and a few other minor drawbacks to doing it, and it wouldn't be worth considering for just a couple of hundred pounds. It would have (for me) to save at least £750 to make it worthwhile, and that may not be achievable. I was just wondering [lazily] whether anyone had happened to check into it lately. Last time round there was a saving of more than £3000 on mid-range VW (a lot more on top end ones) even after all expenses, such as the nice little trip to the Netherlands. Always a pleasure.
  24. Looking at the extent to which the Euro has fallen against the Pound over recent months, I'm wondering whether it might once more be a good time to import a Yeti from, say, the Netherlands, Belgium or Denmark. I made a huge saving (thousands) around 15 years ago, but since then it hasn't been worthwhile - largely because of the strength of the Euro. It may be that VW Group discounts now available in the UK (which were rarer 15 years ago) have made it pointless - but has anyone considered it?
