  1. Audi multitronic is a CVT box. As there are many others on the market at the moment. As said above, mostly on Japanese cars. I've driven a few, not my cup of tea. However given how smooth the DSG is on my car, I would mind the extra 4 gears - as I will mostly not notice it anyway
  2. I never looked into HH because I have never needed one. Now a friend of mine was surprised that I have to hold my foot on the brake at traffic lights. He has an Audi with HH and he just stops at traffic lights and removes his foot from the brake - the car stays put until he steps on the accelerator.. Now that is something I would like. I don't need it, but I want it Reading the comments above, however, it feels like HH on an Octavia would not cater for this?
  3. Would it be an option to put in the order with a deal that in case the car is delayed you will get a free loan car from the dealer?
  4. Photoshop is the "lead in footwells" you are looking for. However the sports suspension is 15mm drop from standard, that info is on almost all Skoda websites that I have looked at.
  5. So its -35mm from a "normal" Octavia? Interesting, I though the vrs is the lowest you can buy being -20mm lower than stock Octavias.
  6. It is genuine leather, so it stretches - typical problem. Can be helped by using a stronger foam base that wont give in so easily. My vRS leather/alcantara seat started looking like poop after a few thousand kilometers. Lucky I own a upholstery shop and will fix it soon by adding a "bottom textile" to the leather bit - that one will stop it from stretching. Same goes for the center armrest - I can see my elbow shape in it. And I don't lean on it "that much"..
  7. Rear suspension is just one part of the new platform. The weight is cut down in every step, here is a good overview: http://www.vwvortex.com/features/technical-features/vwvortex-feature-a-first-look-at-the-new-golf-7-mqb-architecture/
  8. All the marketing pictures display cars with lowered suspension,, Xenons, tyre shine and a driver also - none of that is standard equipment.. Anyway, in Sweden the ads of cars always have a disclaimer "car on the photo may have special equipment". I think its common sense not to trust brochure images. However if the car configurator on the website also displays chrome without saying it's an extra, its a different story
  9. Everyone seems to be a superman - just adjust driving style and you are fine. Talk about half-truth. How do you make sure that all the other drivers on the road have adjusted their driving style? Or are people really so confident that if you just go a bit slower you will be able to stop on snow with summer tyres in a surprise situation..? Man up.. year right. For all the reasonable drivers - Nokian tyres are really good. Finns know winter, all I can say
  10. I got a CD with the car, some special deal with Škoda and the artist. That one pops up titles nicely. So far, none of my other CD's have done that.
  11. I got the more expensive (there are two available) original accessory bars (code: LAS620002A). Really happy with them, cost £122 at a local Seat reseller in Stockholm.
  12. Hmm, the mesh in in the grille with DRLs looks off. Usually the holes in the mesh are identically sized on all parts of the car. Anyway, looking at the accessories catalogue for the Octy 3, the sports package in there looks better than the proposed vrs above. You can also spec it with black 18 alloys called Turini that looks really sporty.
  13. So, it's kind of like you want to turn off the car, but keep it running? Or kill the power in your house but keep the lights on? Doesn't make any sense, does it. Yes. I believe so. What benefit would there be for leaving your lights on when you park for example? It's very confusing for other people in traffic. I bet it's even illegal (not sure about UK).
  14. Well, statistically there are only about 5% of cars equipped with DRLs involved in accidents, 95% of the cases it's cars without DRLs. (random number pulled from the hat, as most of statistics are. Don't worry, I work in market research). But for common sense - better visibility always helps. Some time ago there was statistics about dark colored or green cars getting into specific accidents because they "blend in" with the background. Same you could say for cars without DRLs. For me, there has been a couple of scares in traffic when some halfbrainer decided not to "burn his xenons" and drive without any lights on (saves the bulb and all that crap). Yes it was during the day - still couldn't see him coming. Also helps pedestrians see the car better.
  15. If I understood it correctly it is done like that keeping in mind 90% of Octavia buyers will never feel the difference and the manufacturer will have a cheaper car to build, also a lighter car. The ones who would tell the difference are mostly driving vRS models anyway. In a way it makes sense. Maybe not considering the price that has gone up.
  16. You can turn it off/on via Maxidot, sometimes reading the user manual really helps. Then again, having a user manual is a useless and far-fetched feature. So stay away!
  17. Huskoda - you are not the only one who likes them. I love them! They work flawlessly for me. I have the wipers set to auto, and maximum sensitivity - no issues at all, one of the best features of the car I'd say.
  18. Loads of cars have HUD's, so I guess it's legal.
  19. Mine was empty from new. Not sure the items come with the car.
  20. It's rather common, at least I've driven a few cars where the button is exactly there. Doesn't feel weird at all, you are used to poking in that area anyhow. Now you just do it with out the key.
  21. Just a thought - has it been raining on the days they come on? There are quite a few rules about what makes the lights turn on, some related to the usage of winds screen wipers for example. I live in a quite gloomy place and I hardly see the lights on during daylight. Also they turn off again after tunnels in about 30 seconds.
  22. Guys, I'd be glad to ship a sample to someone for wear and tear test. I have made covers for back seats on octy and superb police cars. Now, I'm looking to develop it further for consumer usage (better looking, specially fitted for VRS). I own a FL vrs estate, so the covers will be tailored for that, my problem is no kids, no dog, so no-one uses the back seat Not much use for testing in "real life".
  23. Skoda might, as there is a facelift coming. Does look like the new Octy though, camo on the front matches the "leaked" pictures of the real bumper. Makes me wonder though - the sensor for adaptive cruise control and auto braking - it's so low down close to the road, prone to get really dirty really fast and might also take some damage from rocks and debris.
