Project Mad Max :: Jack's "vRS Interceptor"
jmattley replied to RoadWarrior's topic in Octavia Projects
Nice, love bandied steelies! What size you gone for? 16"? I'd love 17 or 18" steelies on my mk2, but they don't seem to exist!- 588 replies

Cheers chaps, I plan on keeping it for many years now and always keep receipts and write in the book etc, plus its nice working on a car that's not had chance to rust yet!

Hi all, I've had my 2009 LE CR VRS for 2.5 years now and I've used up my 2 years free servicing (bought from Skoda dealer). Now my question is, is it too soon to start home servicing my car? I'm a reasonably competent home mechanic and have always done everything on mine and GFs car (and some mates too). My only concern is ruining the service history and loosing value? Just to clarify, when I say home service, I mean oil and filters etc. Timing belt was done by a local VAG specialist. What does everyone think?

Hi all! The cruise control on my LE has decided to stop working altogether. Absolutely none of it functions, press the buttons, nothing! The brake lights come on, so it can't be the brake light switch can it? I've got the torque pro app and bluetooth OBD dongle, but it's not giving any errors. I'd like to think that it couldn't be the stalk as I changed it last year and all worked fine. I changed it because the indicators were doing odd things. Anyone ever seen this before? Cheers!! Joe.

Our trip to VW Factory Wolfsburg April 2015
jmattley replied to Tricky Red's topic in General Automotive Chat
I went there on a uni trip (product design masters) back in 2008. What an amazing place it is too. Good pics! -
Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 also look good. And they're forged. I'd love a set, but I'm poor at the minute!

Are they from super skoda?

Rounded off bolt removal help please
jmattley replied to mk2cliffy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Extraction sockets are pretty good. They have teeth on the inside. -
I was also originally joking about slamming it by the way! Too subtle? You should come to Sheffield, I think there's more potholes than actual surfaced road.
-
You should slam your scout now you have the chance.
-
The original multi spoke le wheels are team dynamics monza R. They're cast and soft as poo. I've lost one to a pothole already. The team dynamics pro race 1.2 is a forged motor sport wheel. Worlds apart from the monza r.
-
What wheels do you have at the minute? I ask because the monza R s are the standard le wheels. Did the last owner change them?
-
What about team dynamics pro race 1.2? They're very similar in appearance to the monzas, but much stronger as they're forged. Don't cost too much more than the monzas.

skoda octavia vrs wheel colour options
jmattley replied to cashman1's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
What about gold? Looks good on a white imprezza, would probably suit an octy. You can get pro race 1.2s in gold -
Meant to add R32 brakes to that.
-
I'd go for full polybushing, DTUK tuning, air ride (Sheffield roads are made of craters!), better RARB, set of team dynamics pro race 1.2s, Bluetooth, MFSW, polar fis+ maxidot upgrade, one of those cool LCD liquid OBD2 gauges, darkest legal tints possible and finally HIDs.

Just remembered, when I was unsure about this, I called servicing at my local skoda dealership (bickertons in Sheffield who are lovely) and asked them. They confirmed the rears at 282mm. Matched up to what all the forums said. Guess skoda know what they're doing!
-
My 09 (pre fl) vrs with trw debossed on the rear calipers are 282mm rear disks. On ecp, the rear pads to suite are labelled as to fit 260-286mm. Failing that, you could measure it? There's another post on here somewhere about the same subject which I used when I did my brakes.

Update Bolero / Bluetooth add-on
jmattley replied to markutz's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I have a bolero and I'm thinking about BT when I have some spare cash. I emailed these http://www.carsystems.pl/contact,p1.html lovely people about what to use. They got back to me within a day. Very helpful. -
New Badges fitted with pictures
jmattley replied to blueR36's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
My new badges for my pre fl hatch arrived today. Bought from skoda parts, very quick delivery. They post them from your nearest deale. Should be fitting at weekend. I'll post pics. -
Right then, got my rubber slotty pad today. It seems nice and sturdy as it's moulded rather a butchered hockey puck. However, for jacking an Octavia, it rubbish. I offered it up and it could do with a 20mm x 20mm slot rather than 10 x 10. Might just use it upside down instead of a block of wood though.
