  1. I want to get back on super unleaded but I still have under half a tank of regular left. I'm taking the other half to gatwick from mansfield tomorrow but I don't want to fill up with regular then spend the next couple of weeks running it empty. Will it make any difference to the engine if I top up with super ?
  2. I must say they never got back to me. They took my name and number when I ordered a set for my combi a few weeks ago.
  3. I don't get the resonance on my 13 plate combi except on some rough anti skid surfaces of if I'm in maybe too high a gear. I personally don't believe it's anything to do with air pressure. I believe it's a combination of a very new chassis which may or may not have inherent problems and skoda skimping on sound insulation to save costs.
  4. My 59 plate had one paint blister showing about the size of a thumb nail. I traded it in later for a new Octy.
  5. I've had my 1.4 tsi combi for nearly 2 months now and i'm very pleased with the fuel economy I'm getting. I've not had much chance to drive more than a couple of miles a day since I got the car due to suffering an illness but when I do 50 mpg is easily attainable. The same journeys in my previous 1.2 yeti I'd be lucky to get beyond 37 mpg. If anyone has doubts about the 1.4 tsi and it not having cylinder shutdown, don't worry. When I got the car I filled it with momentum 99. Now I've given it a tank full of regular so I'll see how that compares.
  6. I still can't decide what colour to have which would go with my silver car.
  7. You will get them guys. I've seen the jiffy bags ready to go to you last weekend.
  8. I changed my 59 plate 1.2 yeti for a 13 plate 1.4 Octavia estate. The fit and finish in the octy is better but I find it doesn't handle as well and the yeti is much easier to drive and easier to get in and out of. I changed for the extra space and power and I get better fuel economy and cheaper tax. However I do miss the quirky looks of the yeti as it is quite unique. The octavia is a little bland. I dare say some time in the future of may have another yeti if they can make the small tsi's more efficient.
  9. I've seen an RGM carbon fibre look protector on the Vanstyle van. It does look quite good. I planned on having a silver one to go with my silver octy but it looks a bit cheap. I'll probably go for the black one but I think it might look odd.
  10. I've been up to Vanstyle this morning to see about a set of shades for my estate. They seem very nice people. Chris mentioned the issues people have had and showed me the correct fixings that cure the problem. He said the fixings are being sent out to people. They haven't got a combi set in until later this month and when they come in they'll give me a call and I can pop down and they will fit them for me. Whilst I was there I also had a look at some Rearguards bumper protectors. They seem a better option than the superskoda ones, although I'm undecided what colour would suit my silver octy.
  11. I'll try and pop round on Saturday and see if I can see them for myself. I'll have a word with them about the non fitting issues.
  12. You can see the vents on the side rear behind the bumper.
  13. I just stumbled across the new video of the octavia. Very interesting. They make it look so simple. Skoda Octavia Production:
  14. I've been looking at uv car shades and found they're based in my town mansfield. I was going to pop round one day to take a look and see if I can buy from their unit.
  15. I tried to record the noise on my phone today but it didn't pick it up.
  16. I haven't had chance to speak to the dealer yet. It seems definitely to be related to the clutch. Maybe a linkage or release bearing or something. The noise is very noticeable even outside the car. It surely can't be normal.
  17. I'd vouch for paint chip techniques. They did a wheel arch repair & a wheel refurbished for a past car of mine.
  18. My recently purchased octy 1.4 tsi makes a strange rattle or knock when it's idling. The thing is it stops when the clutch pedal is depressed. It's really annoying. I've been back to the dealer with another issue and mentioned this and was told it does that, it's something to do with the turbo when the engines started. What rubbish.
  19. I've wiped the screen many times but it doesn't make a difference. It just makes me feel very uncomfortable having to take the car back with problems. I wondered whether to try my more local dealer instead.
  20. I've had my used octy for just over a month now and I've been experiencing the bolero changing radio stations and not responding to me changing the driving mode. It's seems to be when the cars started from cold for some reason. It's already been back to the dealer I got it from and they changed a couple of settings on the dab because they said it was probably searching for stations. What a load of rubbish. It went funny the other day adding random contacts to my favourites list. Looks like I'll have to go back again. It's most likely the capacitive screen. It's just getting dealer to admit it's faulty.
  21. Should I be worried about this ? I sometimes have to park on a little slope behind my house. Yesterday I parked up and pulled the handbrake up only to get back to the car later on and when I opened my boot to get something out I leaned against the rear bumper and the car started creaking and crept forward a little bit. The handbrake was still on as far as it would go. I'm worried I'll find the car in the back of my neighbours audi A2 one day.
  22. Well it's 3 weeks now since I picked up my 13 plate se estate. Not bad to say I just went to take a look at it along with a Rapid sport. The dealer told me they got it from skoda. It was a fleet car of some kind hence the 14,000 mls in a short space of time. I'll soon make that back as I only do about 6 to 8k per year. Apart from a few loading scratches on the top rear bumper it's in top condition. I was a bit apprehensive buying an ex fleet car after being stung 3 years ago with a mondeo titanium x sport which I later found had, had a respray down one side for whatever reason. Anyway I got a good price for my 1.2 yeti and i'm financing the rest of the car. I'm glad I got the 1.4. It matches my old Ford on paper for speed and economy and the interior quality is fantastic. I even enjoy the eco mode around town. It makes for a nice relaxing drive. I haven't experienced any bad road noise which some people have mentioned and the massive boot is great. The only problems I found are the touchscreen which sometimes after start up seems to work by itself changing stations and a rattle/vibration after start up which goes when the clutch peddle is depressed. I'm off to the dealer soon to get it checked out. Overall it's a great car and I hope I have many happy years with it.
  23. I noticed mine does that. The 2nd light can be on, on Auto but when I change the fan speed manually it doesn't light up. I was going to get it looked at next week when mine goes in for the bolero display having a mind of its own sometimes.
  24. Mines a manual. I can't wait to give it a blast on a nice trip to skeggy soon.
  25. I've been driving my 1.4 tsi in eco mode mostly for the past week. It suits my driving style around town. It's nice and smooth. I tried sport mode today and got to the end of my street almost before my brain realised I'd set off. Sport certainly isn't suitable for town commuting.
