  1. According to auto express the 1.4 act petrol engine is implemented. Skoda only have that in the new superb don't they.
  2. Mines just come back from the dealer. My ss errors were due to an EPC fault not the other way round. A fault was found with the charge pressure actuator which was replaced. Fingers crossed now all will be fine. This is my 2nd skoda with little issues but my dealership have always been great. I have always had a soft spot for skodas, my grandfather always had new skodas from this dealership since the eighties. My father had a couple of skodas too, a 105 estelle and a light green Favorit, you'd think those 2 cars alone would put me off skodas for life but no.
  3. Mines in now with stop/start errors and epc light on. It went in a couple of months ago for a fix on a squeaking seat bolster. It went in last year for a replacement bolero screen because it had a mind of its own. It's also been in a few times for a rattle when cold from the gearbox, although all I get told is to put more mileage on the car and let it develop. Yeah develop past its warranty.
  4. Well in the space of a month I've had ss error messages with epc light and limp mode 4 times now. One time the car switched off and told me to restart the car manually with the key. I'm in the process of trying to get it sorted with my local dealer but so far today they are too busy to come to the phone and keep saying they'll call back.
  5. To say skodas are supposed to be highly rated when it comes to reliability my 2 have been problematic. My previous car, a yeti had ht lead failure, castellated rear tyres, paint worn away on the rear doors from stone chipping and a rattle sometimes on start up. Before I bought it it had already had a new timing chain, water pump and turbo, all under 30k miles. This car in the 18 months I've had it has had the bolero screen replaced and a fix on my creaking seat and its only done 23k. It's only these recent years I've had nearly new cars and I find my much older cars I've had were totally reliable. It does make me think that all these nearly new cars are for sale because they all have problems.
  6. The problem is they're insisting there are no errors showing when they have the car even though the warning light came on when they had it.
  7. Each time I've had an EPC light and stop/start error my s/s system has been active. I have no issues when it's manually deactivated. Today driving home I pulled up at a set of lights, chose neutral, handbrake on, the engine turned off. When I dipped the clutch to start the engine nothing happened and the maxidot said "Manually start car" I had to turn the key. The s/s system is getting mor and more unreliable. As a precaution I checked my battery status and it's at 80% so the issue doesn't lie there. I look like booking it in with the dealer yet again.
  8. Over the past 2 weeks driving to work and back I've found that when I manually disable stop/start I don't have any warning lights or errors, but the days when auto stop/start is active I get the EPC on and the message stop/start error on the infotainment display. Strange how my dealer says it isn't logging an error code when it happens.
  9. Over winter I was running my octavia on my old 16 inch yeti steel wheels with winter tyres no problem.
  10. The other day whilst sat at traffic lights, clutch pedal down, engine idling then all of a sudden I get system error stop/start, epc light on and limp mode. After switching off the car and restarting it went. My service guy picked the car up the other day and the epc light came on again but no limp mode, plus it showed no errors logged when they hooked it up at the dealership. They said all they could do was log the issue with skoda uk and wait and see what the outcome is.
  11. The guy from my local dealerships service department told me the new 1.4 tsi is 150bhp, plus it has cylinder deactivation. I didn't think skoda was getting that.
  12. I wouldn't have thought they would have a new engine just for a gain in 10bhp. After all the 140 was supposed to be a different engine from the 122. Doesn't make sense for a manufacture to make an engine for just a couple of years then build a totally new one. They always start off with a lower power figure then over time make a few changes and remap the engine to a higher power. Also the people who told you are the same people who insisted my yeti steel wheels would never fit on my mk3 octavia which they do perfectly. My opinion is skoda don't want people badgering them about a power increase to bring the engine up to date. Anyway company's like shark could remap the 1.4 to just under 180 bhp. That's tempting.
  13. I wouldn't have thought it makes any real difference given that many believe that the vw engines usually put out more power than official specs say. Chances are if you're running on 99 Ron petrol like myself then you're likely to be around that kind of power figure anyway. It's a shame that when manufacturers increase an engines power after a couple of years they don't call us early adopters in for a remap, like updating firmware on a smartphone. I'll most likely get mine remapped in a years time after my warranty ends.
  14. That's what it said in the information. " stop/start system error". I'm hoping it was relating to me having the passenger door open too long with the air con on and engine on.
  15. Thanks andyvee for the quick response. That puts my mind at ease. Forgot to state I have a 1.4 tsi estate, manual.
  16. This is a strange one. I mostly drive in normal or eco mode but occasionally I'll have a play in sport mode. Yesterday I drove home in sport mode and it seemed fine, I drove to work this morning still in sport but the car didn't feel as responsive, it felt normal. When I got in the car to come home today it felt almost sluggish until I selected normal then sport mode and the throttle response came back. It seems that on occasion when the car is restarted the engine management is in normal but steering still in sport and sport shows in the corner of the bolero screen. Looks like another problem for my dealer to take a look at to go with my rattly engine, creaking seat and air con compressor that sounds like a strimmer.
  17. Just today I noticed my epc light on and start stop system error message in the car menu on the bolero. I was sat with the engine running, aircon on with the door open whilst picking my kids up. I'm hoping the problems gone in the morning. I don't want more problems with my car.
  18. My drivers seat keeps creaking down the right side of the backrest. My dealer is ordering new parts For when I next book in.
  19. I'm still seriously contemplating having mine sharked in a years time, out of warranty. Although I see they don't state that they do the skoda 1.4, 140 But they do the seat engine and can get 179bhp out of it.
  20. The 1.4 is a cracking engine. It pretty much matches the vrs diesel for performance too. Economy wise I'm getting 36 to 45 mpg through stop start traffic to work. I have had 62 mpg out of it on a very steady drive to the coast. I'm even considering having it remapped if I still have it past its warranty. You can get another 30+ hp out of it.
  21. I had my winter wheels swapped over last weekend and 2 worn summer tyres replaced with new. The fitter checked my wheel alignment and found all 4 wheels off. He adjusted the fronts but told me the rears can't be realigned because of the solid axle. Now today I woke to find a flat new tyre with a big screw stuck in it. Not happy. I took the car for a puncture repair and they told me my older 2 tyres are miss shaped due to the alignment being out. Trouble is they were previously on the rear. How all 4 wheels could be off on a 2 year old car puzzles me. Hopefully the dealer can help when I book in for my inspection.
  22. I'll probably go back to a Yeti If I can afford one. It handled so much better than my octy and in my opinion looks better.
  23. My bolero on my se did the same last year. The dealer I got it from claimed it was because the auto frequency or something was set to on, load of rubbish, it kept doing it of course. I took it to my local dealer and the said it was a faulty touch screen so they replaced the screen. I haven't had any trouble since.
  24. I was out in my combi yesterday with my kumho kw27's on and I was squirming all over in the snow and ice. I admit they aren't brilliant tyres but these wheels & tyres are what I had supplied for my yeti for the past 2 winters and the yeti handled so much better. I think it's because the extra length and torsion beam rear of the octy. Made me want my yeti back.
  25. Earlier this year I did mansfield to Skegness, 80 miles through Lincolnshire with luggage and got 62 mpg on the maxidot of my 1.4 manual combi when I arrived. I never got that with a diesel mondeo. Daily use I do 11 miles to work & back through busy traffic, plenty of sitting in queues and I get between 35 to 43 mpg on maxidot.
