Has anyone removed this blanking plate?
Has anyone managed to remove the blanking plate which is now in the glove box where the old SD / CD player was? As pictured its there if you have the new MIB3 radio...frankly I miss the ability to use SD and my own SIM card. Whatever! One of my few gripes is that the Superb glove box is small and I was hoping for extra space...but I can't remove it, and this week my garage (in for first service on iV) said they couldn't either.

iV...remote heating and windscreen in MyConnect
One appeal of the iV is the ability to remotely start windscreen heating and car heat through the Skoda Connect app om Android phone. It worked when I first got (and tested) my L&K Combi, but not now...when it's needed. Phone app continually returns 'not successful, try again' after a couple of minutes. App itself is connecting to car (I can see real time data such as charge and lock status). Any ideas?

small scratch on windscreen - polish it out? Glasweld/Superglass
If you replace, and have a camera (traffic assist, dynamic cruise control) the camera will need recalibrating. Autoglass say they can do it, but mine ended up going back the dealer three times with errors coming up. Insurance paid but it was a faff.

Noise after turning engine off
Is it every time? It may be linked to catalytic regeneration?

70 plate L&K iV taillights animation enabling?
Could be model specific...mine do this on an L&K iV. What does the dealer say?

Let down by Skoda and main dealers
Skoda Customer Services are both dishonest and inefficient. You've total sympathy, but it comes down to dealers. Ours in the New Forest is fab, not just for owners but as part of the community. Part of your difficulty is having two dealers involved...I'd hammer the Derby end and find a time when they can take the car and fix it. Otherwise get an independent engineer report, and go through small claims court. But not all dealers are like that you describe.

fully charged alert
Oddly, now you mention it, also stopped getting alerts.

No Manuals for new iV
Story so far - the user manual with my iV bought in March is very inaccurate, kit is wrong, pictures are wrong, instructions are wrong including safety instructions, obviously affects a large number of owners, so Skoda did a model recall (July) saying they'd replace it and I was notified. Waited eight weeks until told in September by garage that Skoda had now decided there would be no printed version, only online. Which is a pain both because it's complex so I always keep the manual in the car for the first few months as I learn, and looking up on a small phone screen is a really difficult and almost impossible to read. Manual dated 9/19. Then last week, a surprise call from the garage saying they had received the replacement manual which I collected (wrapped in an unopened Skoda bag etc.. They later rang me to check mileage so they could cancel the recall on my car. In the evening I sat down to read...only to find I've been reissued with another copy of the old original and faulty book, dated 9/19. Useless. Am I right that once a formal recall is made, the manufacturer has to register it and report back to DoT or whoever on its progress - so cynically they've sent out copies of the old handbook, just so garages can tell Skoda a manual has been given out...and Skoda in turn collate the figures and then appear to comply with the recall? In which case isn't this illegal - if they recall to reissue the manual, shouldn't they do just that? Thoughts?

Above and beyond
I'm interested to see if other garages match our local Skoda dealer Meaden's of Sway. To declare an interest, we've had four cars from them, and continue. But last Wednesday I had a bump in my six month old IV L&K, in our village. A young lad in a red Polo ran into the back of me while stationery. Lot of dust and dirt, but beneath it some scratches through to the bumper plastic. Not worth an insurance claim though. But the driver looked very scared, I figured he's already learned the lesson and I was friendly and calm, we chatted, and I let him go. This was witnessed from across the road by one of Meaden's garage owners. He dropped me an email that afternoon, and said if I popped the car in, they'd sort out the damage free of charge. Which is what happened yesterday (I donated a large tub of chocolates). But how nice, friendly and efficient - do others have Skoda garages which are as valued?

No Manuals for new iV
Bought a new iV L&K in March. Manual was useless, covered wrong kit such as infotainment, badly translated, skipped some areas, etc. It was dated 9/19. In July, Skoda issued a recall notice to replace manuals for iV. My dealer acknowledged and put it on order. We waited, chased, waited. Now dealer says they've been told by Skoda there will be no printed manual...just on line. It is there dated 6/20 and now downloaded. But that's ridiculous, a printed manual for such a complex (and expensive) car is really essential. Like many I sat in the car and tried to master functions, and still not happy (such as user settings, built in SIM, hybrid functions). These are either missed or badly set out in the original book. Printing a 200 page book isn't practical, and doing it on my phone is a nightmare. Flipping back and forth (scrolling), trying to remember where things ara, having to scroll all the way to index and back. Tiny pictures, or only a small part of a page on zoom. Anyone else as irritated as I am? Do new iV's really come without a manual. Is this a warranty issue...ie the original part was faulty. Advice please.

Superb iV battery charging
I use a Type 2 from PodPoint at home. Charging typically 4-5 hours from empty. Good web app to tell you when charged, usage, etc. With 13 amp normal household socket) I've found about 14 hours. If you get a charge point installed there's a £350 government subsidy so total cost to me was about £400. You mention 'Type 3', but iV can't use that (nor can any hybrid so far as I know..only pure electric cars). Incidentally I suspect the battery has to 'condition'...I was getting 23-25 miles from a full battery at start...five months later its 30 miles. And watch out for the manual which is rubbish, and a lot relates to wrong kit such as infotainment system. A recall has been done to issue a new manual, but my dealer says Skoda are wriggling and now say just 'on line'.

Superb iV
Love it...a high point is the switch from electric to engine (after about 30 miles from full charge) which is seamless. Electric performance is phenomenal. Neat tricks like being able to pre cool/heat the car inc. windscreen from inside the house. Entertainment system is complicated, especially setting upma user, and original manual is wrong in every respect about Columbus (e-sim) but thats being addressed. Third Superb...best yet.

iV...default drive mode from 'D' to 'B'?
Many thanks both.

iV...default drive mode from 'D' to 'B'?
Heading says it all really...when setting off the default drive mode is 'D' as in any DSG, and to use the regenerative energy recovery mode you have to nudge the stick back to go into 'B' mode. I do this all the time so the question: can I swap so 'B' is the default? Can't see anything in the manual (frankly it's out of date in several areas anyway, already) and someone clever may know!

Columbus - how to transfer files to storage/jukebox on new iV
Clever people, technologists, ICE buffs - help please. Just got our new iV L&K. Lovely car, sat on the drive through CVid19, so playing and continuing the set up. Very different to our previous Mk3 L&K - took me ages for example to work out the seat settings - buttons are the same but previously you held down the memory button and the number you wanted...now hit one after the other. That was halg an hour wasted! And totally foxed by the Columbus system. Spec'd the phone charger option for purchase (in case it's relevant, there is no other ICE option such as Premium WLAN). In the glovebox there is now a blank plate where the old CD, SD Card, SIM car went in for Columbus on the previous car. But I have activated web via the eSIM so that's fine, we've got connectivity and can set up a hot spot and so on. Now want to put music onto the built in storage (which I assume it still has...). Have a load of albums (11Gb) on a USB stick, I can put the USB stick in the USB socket by the phone charger, and it plays on the system, sees the albums and so on. But I want to transfer this onto the Columbus storage as I could before (from SD card, but as I say no SD card slot...). Does anyone know how, what settings, where in the menu please? There is not a word about this in the manual (book or on-line). If I remove the USB, it does seem to show storage - but of course it's empty so it simply says 'no tracks available'. I'm feeling very stupid. Or by paying more for the WLAN option have I actually downgraded my system - no CD/DVD, SIM, SD Card, internal storage? Daft if I have and should have been told of this I feel!

Rear passenger air vent part number?
Colleagues, three exhuberant post football lads in the back had resulted in a broken rear passenger air vent (air outlet between the front seats, above the temp control and cigarette lighter). It pulls out, that's one piece of good ness and the light wire is simple to unclip. Also none of the broken bits fell inside. Does anyone know the part number please...or where I can find it? Any recommendations for a good source?
