I have a vrs FAbia but thinking of getting my sisters Skoda Octavia but when going for a test drive today the pedal when braking nearly went to the floor I checked the fluid to see if it was low but was ok looked pretty high in the brake reservoir it's not long been mot'd could it be expensive or could it be Just a case of bleeding the brakes any thoughts
-
Theres just a bit of noise without the clutch being pressed in but when you press the pedal any noise disappears but it has been remapped to 175bhp when I got it
-
I have owned the fabia vrs for nearly 3 years now and since I have owned it the pedal has always been heavy the guy that owned said that it might be a more heavy duty clutch but did not believe that but the thing is its killing my leg,but barring a wee bit of noise from the clutch it changes gear no problem not deteriorated a bit since I bought it,a year ago I took it too my garage lad and he said it looks like the thrust bearing could be the problem just to change because its a heavy pedal is it worth it

just asked my tyre guy if 205 55 16in tyres fit the fabia he said that they will rub on inside any thoughts

Not long had mot done the mot chap said the osf tyre has got wear on the inside of the tyre might want to replace the track rod end so I did the two then got it tracked today and the tyre lad said everything was tight and did not know what could be doing it ,so if the console bush was worn say would that not have shown up in the mot?

Just did this a couple of days ago front drivers side squealing like mad one pad was jammed on a bit just a good clean up of discs and pads making sure the pads pretty much fall in copper slip on all contacts and in behind the caliper carrier rubber slide pins and the pads once I did that runs a treat

Can anyone tell me the torx setting for the caliper carrier bracket that bolts onto the hub? Is this right :c54-II caliper Mounting bracket Bolts 125nm (94lbf ft) is that the caliper on a 2004 fabia vrs mk 1 caliper or mark 2?

A few weeks ago I started to hear a squeak when I turned right on my fabia vrs 54 plate looked on the site for some ideas to solve it,when checking the caliper slide pins on the caliper carrier were shot so put a new carrier on this morning grinded disc edge top and bottom, clean face of pads with some sand paper to make sure they go in nice and smooth, copper slip on all surfaces not pushed piston out to check if its sticking but no vibration at speed when brake nothing.I can take my hand of the steering wheel and brake still no pulling to the left or right so to me the piston is ok,not checked dryshaft nut to see if it needs tightened do that tomz I am not 100% sure if theres play in the wheel bearing when I had it jacked up there felt as if there was play horizontally but no play vertically but my moneys on that also replaced new anti roll bar bush incase it had anything to do with it that was worn too any ideas

what is the correct sequence to bleeding the brakes on the vrs
Joe41 replied to Joe41's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
well I did that with the bottle and fluid, tube in the fluid loosen bleed nipple someone else to pump the pedal did this twice but the pedal was better but not firm, like I said reading on the site you can damage the master cylinder and abs might have air so talk of vcds and the like knowing my luck something else would be damaged so put it into a good garage he must have put the power bleader on it job done. -

That's so true about the stimulated part lol just trying keeping my back pocket intact but could not get the brake pedal up enough by bleeding them twice so paid £30 to get them bled just incase the abs block was full of air and hearing all this stuff about vcds and the possibility that the brake master cylinder could have been damaged because of driving the car with air in the system so just put it in to get done so lovely and firm now. So you were right in a way my economy was stimulated. :( -
