  1. No idea, only got my car yesterday - haven't tried dismantling it yet. From the pictures, it appears that there are a lot of clips, so you probably need to ease it off from all angles.
  2. According to the workshop manual, it's mainly a lot of clips - you should really have a trim removal tool (wedge) but you may be able to fashion something or prise it off with your fingers. 1st you have to remove the lower panel - take out the screw that secures the inner handle, then prise off. This reveals 2 screws at the bottom edges of the top panel - remove these along with the 2 'bolts' that the parcel shelf strings attach to. I can't post the pictures from the manual, but this is the text: Removing and installing the bottom trim panel for the tailgate Special tools and workshop equipment required t Disassembly wedge, e.g. -3409- Removing: – Remove fixing screw -2- (2 Nm) of the door handle -1-. – Unclip the bottom trim panel for the tailgate from the clips -3- using a wedge and remove it from the tailgate -5-. Installing: – Installation is carried out in the reverse order; pay attention to the following points: – Recondition the clips -3- in the bottom trim panel for the tailgate -4-, if necessary replace with new ones. <a name="x-d6s37p">Removing and installing the top trim panel for the tailgate Removing: Special tools and workshop equipment required t Disassembly wedge, e.g. -3409- Removing: – Removing luggage compartment cover. – Removing bottom trim panel for tailgate – Remove screws -3- (2 Nm). – Remove bolt for luggage compartment plate -2- (1.5 Nm). – Loosen top trim panel for the tailgate -5- on the sides with the wedge. – Unclip the trim panel for the tailgate from the clips -4- using a wedge and remove it from the tailgate -1-. 3. Tee Hee I'm still following off(his head)note's posts because, through some dubious external contacts, I still have a fascination with mental health. I think I'm the only one though, because most of the Yeti fans are now ignoring every one of his posts. I doubt whether he'll do us all a favour & fook off for a while yet but, maybe in 3-4 years, when he's old enough to actually drive a car, he may actually return & start talking like a grown-up - maybe then we can all be friends again To the future - I wish I was there!
  4. Bloody hell, thanks bud. I'd got the blinkers on after suffering a hard sell - this is basically offering me all the benefits they were trying to sell me, without actually having to sacrifice pound notes to the god of Shkoda Insurance. I still think you get can all the same benefits with a bit of a fight, but this takes the stress out - I may well sign up
  5. Yep, I saw them a few weeks ago, I guess (at least) some of them are in service by now: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/268372-yet-another-emergency-service-buys-yetis/page__hl__+coastguard#entry3171914
  6. Well I picked up my car yesterday, following a visit to finalise all paperwork last Thursday. Skoda insurance did a massive sell on the benefits of using only Skoda approved parts & using an approved Skoda repair centre.. Problem was, they demand stupid premiums - they will negotiate massively but still not competitive! My (mis-informed) opinion of the insurance market, is that you can demand repair by a Skoda main dealer in any event. Insurance companies are notorious in trying to push you to their preferred repairers (because they're dirt cheap) - but you can tell them to feck off & demand a main dealer repair whatever they say - so, in my view, not worth paying a premium. Hopefully, one of the site sponsors, who actually know what they're talking about, will tell us the truth - PLEASE - ????? Edit - P.S: Forgot to mention, that the margins on accident repair are so high that delivery/collection/courtesy car are a given, whoever you go to.
  7. Well that just proves how individual the whole thing is. Lesson for today - don't believe any of the shovel you read on forums - discover your own path!
  8. Shut up Marie, you know you're not helping. :peek: Stop making us feel so bad. We all know that the thieves in Skye are an honest bunch Insuring a car within 10 miles of Birmingham is another kettle of pikeys entirely.
  9. Offnote - I'm really over the moon & delighted for you that you've learned how to use Google - but is some ancient post really relevant when somebody's talking about a new car? I've heard that the brakes on an Estelle weren't very good, but it didn't stop me buying a Yeti - maybe you could do us all a favour & tell us all about the beneficial effects of electric shock treatment!
  10. Insurance is a funny game, & it's not always possible to make sense between quotes. However, as a guide, I was paying about £260 p.a. on my Roomster - Skoda insurance quoted me £435 on the Yeti & reduced to £360 when I told them they were miles out. My current insurance is Prudential - to change to the Yeti with them cost me £2.12 after a £15.90 admin charge - that makes it <£250 p.a. as I had about 10 months to run. As I said, it's hard to compare as we're all different but, as I'm west mids based, Prudential might be worth a shot: http://www.pru.co.uk.../car_insurance/
  11. Not heard anything, so I'm not much bloody help am I What I would say is though, is that some dealers are really switched on & know where there are or aren't issues, others don't even appear interested in the products they sell. If I were you, I'd listen to the dealer & stick with him if he's giving you tips like this (as long as you can't see anything between the lines, e.g. he's trying to sell you a stock model you don't want). My only mis-judged, mis-guided, & totally lacking in hard evidence, difference I detected during my wait was that cars without sunroofs were getting through a teensy weeny bit quicker than those with. It's so hard to tell though - you get petrol v diesel, 2wd v 4wd, leather v fabric - it only takes a supply problem with one component to cause a wait. Best news though is that nobody is having to wait anything like they were a year or two back - I'd advise ordering what you want & posting a few rude jokes while you're waiting
  12. Well, I'm new to this game, so maybe my opinion is worthless? However, I'm sitting in a Swansea hotel using their free wi-fi & I must say the drive down was an absolute joy - that includes a fair bit of wandering 'round the Gower before checking in, so a fair few miles with barely a stop - though, admittedly, a long way from a typical European trip. Am I right in thinking that the Yeti seats with lumbar support option aren't just Yeti seats with a widget added, but are, in fact, replacement seat backs with those from the Superb - or am I just talking complete shovel? I can't comment - it's been a long while since I've driven a car in a manner where lateral support becomes an issue. I only get really 'spirited' when on two wheels (then my back aches - along with lots of other body parts )
  13. Very interesting! Thanks for posting Strange though, as just in the past few days Which? were reporting some very good deals on the Yeti. These were with brokers other than DTD, so are SUK tightening up generally (doubt it as it would breach EU rules) or have they got a particular beef with DTD? (or the other way around perhaps??) http://www.which.co.uk/news/2013/04/hot-car-deal--skoda-yeti-317069/
  14. It isn't. It was me being a numpty & missing the important bit that it's an SE model (fabric interior). I'm one of the odd crew who don't like the leather on the Yeti (particularly as I intend keeping this for many years & didn't like the look of how the leather was weathering on 2-3 year old cars). Adding xenons & bluetooth to an SE isn't a very cost-effective way of going about things, but for me it's worth it to get the fabric interior.
  15. Am I an 'official' owner yet? It's a couple of hours before I pick her up, but I guess DVLA has me as the registered keeper & I can't type & drive, so might as well post now. 1.2TSI 105PS DSG In the finest hairdressers' livery of Shark Blue metallic / white roof / Onyx Blue interior Options: Fold-flat front passenger seat, floor mats, bi-xenon headlights, lumbar supports, TPM, 12 speaker sound system, MDI, bluetooth + 4-spoke MFSW, auto-dimming rear-view mirror with rain-sensor (+ the internal bike rack will make the transfer from my current car to the Yeti) Will be straight off on a mini trip, so will be a few days before I post back, hopefully with a couple of pictures.
  16. That's a great new punk song "Eight minute moron" Briskoda for the Christmas #1 Up yours Semen towel
  17. Fair play pal - that's a good response in the circumstance. I'd be happy to share a beer.............if you're buying
  18. This is getting ridiculous! How the fook can you refer to the T&C's in one post ".........As the site T&C s go on to say, "Respect is the name of the game. Do not flame, hound, badger, disrespect, or taunt ANYONE on the forums."......................" And call somebody a moron in the next. You sir, are a wris****ch, and you are therefore condemned to drinking on your own - Tara a bit! Edit - P.S: The young ones were clearly quicker than me in typing, but I hope you get the point - Shall we be friends now
  19. Certainly, if you're going to get an electric coolbox, you definitely need one that either plugs into the mains so that you can get it down to temperature before you travel, or you need a 240v to 12v adapter to do the same thing. Too true! I've certainly been the victim of a flat battery due to leaving one plugged in on a camping trip. My personal view is that electric coolboxes have a very limited market. Maybe a 1,000 mile trip door to door (my house to the south of France, for example) or more mean they begin to make sense for some people, but my own electric coolbox has become a museum piece. If you can get them cold enough to start with and have a very long trip and you are careful not to leave your car parked for too long in the sun, they may work - possibly??? For most people, a really good traditional coolbox may be better (with sufficient ice packs). This one is superb, but too big for most needs - I wish you could get one as good, but a bit smaller: http://www.amazon.co...stp_s2_edpp_url
  20. But is it so wrong to take a light-hearted jovial approach to life? (that's a genuine question) If we could have a choice between eliminating all risque humour so that noone can take offence & the whole world lightening up a bit, I know which option I would choose. I also know, from the style of responses, which forum members I would like to share a beer with.
  21. I LOVE this forum. I never twigged that 'wris****ch' concealed within such a naughty word - fnar, fnar I'm sure the children will be highly amused now that it has been pointed out.
  22. Agree 100% MDI is very important to me a I like to listen to random play from my 160gb Ipod Classic. I have a bluetooth module for it, but can't keep it charged at the same time. IMO, if you have a device that has <= 32gb storage and/or has built-in bluetooth, £175 is very hard to justify - better to spend it on fuel!
  23. As Kenny R says, yes it is in the central cubby hole. As I understand it, the £175 cost does include the cable, but it's not put in the car at the factory. The dealer has to order it in (I think they're given a code/credit so that it doesn't cost them), so it does depend on the dealer being on the ball. P.S. I also got one off the 'bay' before I realised, though mine only cost £9.99 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Skoda-iPod-Connecting-Cable-MDI-AZO800001-/130878396969?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:3160
  24. I don't know what you mean by 'used to' but it's only been available to order (on the Yeti) from 12/2/2013 ('available' according to the configurator a few days before that). It's available to order on the dealers' ordering system and, as others have already said, it's £175 I inspected my new car (due for collection Monday) yesterday & confirmed that mine has been fitted correctly, and that it is the 'traditional' MDI connection (not the USB thing that's being fitted to the Rabid)
  25. That's disgraceful! What if you turn your back to make a cup of coffee & your children read that?
