How hard is it, if at all possible to fix a maxidot display to a car that doesn't have maxidot?

Has anyone tried it?

I've had my dealer retrofit a maxidot to my car. It's possible and quite easy.

Read the thread Rossm mentioned and all will be clear.

Can be done quite easily although you'll need a friendly dealer to configure it to the car after fitting. Those prices shown in that previous group buy will have gone up a fair bit too as the pound against the Euro has weakened further.

The physical changing of the pod is less than 5 mins however it contains the immobilisor so it must be coded to the car.

You will need the 4 digit SKC that came with the car as well as a 4 digit SKC for the dashpod. It does not need to be new and if you use a Skoda dealer they will calculate the SKC's when they install it.

Should be no more than a 1 hour labour charge.

Can anyone recommend a Yorkshire dealer who would do this and what sort of money are we talking?

This is my first Skoda and if I'd have known more about it I would have ordered my car with it factory fitted. The dealer DM Keith of Ossett never explained the benefits or demoed it to me when I ordered :-(

The dashpod is quite expensive. Any dealer is able to do the work, they may say they can't but it's simply a case of following their procedure for installing a replacement dashpod.

i was never demo'd it either, but after seeing them in the cars of members here it soon became apparent that i should have one!!

The girl who sold me my car just said do it.

So I did.:D

Bickertons in Sheffield fitted mine, but didn't supply it (thanks Stu)

However I think Damo:) approached them about this the other week & was told by the service reception that they had never done one & that it couldn't be done & even if it could it would be about £1,000:eek:!!!!!

Ask to talk to their Master Tech, he did it no problem!

Agree with VRStu, expect to pay for a full hours labour even though it took them 20-30 minutes & cost of the new dash pod can be much cheaper if you shop arround!

couldnt you get one el cheapo from a scrappie?

I can see another group buy happening :D

Yes that's what I said above, you still need it coded though.

didnt yours come with one tom?

If there was another GB I woild definately be interested.

Me Too:thumbup: i'd have 1

any chance of this getting orginised, seems to be quite abit of interest in it!

I can ask if I can get the price lower but I think there would need to be a minimum of five.

i reckon stu you should start one and wait till you have the minimuim of 10 on the list anf go from there, they wont be disappointed when they get them installed ;)

I have emailed the guy and he has some in stock which is good. I can do it for 5 if there is enough interest. Let me know if you want me to arrange it and I will start a thread. Because of the poor Euro/£ at the moment it will be more expensive than before.

Hi stu, definetly put me down for one! better get a list going.

thanks

Im interested :)

Hi Stu, I will take one :)

I did enquire a few weeks ago. I'll be happy to go with a group buy. So, yes please, add me to the list.
