Forge Dump Valve

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me if it is worth having a Forge dump valve fitted to the VRS or not.

Sounds a good idea, litterally but not sure if it will benefit at all.

will it only benefit after a remap to save the turbo if you have a decat downpipe.

Not sure myself, so thought I would ask...

no no no to dump valves, pointless

thats what I thought, but just wanted hear this from another source...

and I believe that they don't make (a real) one for the Diesel Fabia

/\ To summarise, you've already got one; it's called a waste gate. If you want your car to sound like a bus, buy a DV. It will make your car go tshhhhhhhhhhhh when you take your foot off the accelerator, but since a diesel doesn't have a throttle to protect, it won't bring you any benefit whatsoever. Like the strut brace, save your pennies and put them towards your custom remap.

HTH :D

Somebodys not crediting me for my work here ;)

No, I apologise.

No, I apologise.

lol, I was only messing :P

I've got one fitted, I got it for a steal from a fellow member so thought why not give it a go! It sounds cool, but to be honest I have noticed a 'very' slight loss of performance, my car feels not quite as sharp as it did. Noise wise it does sound cool, it's quite a quick tsssh noise not mega loud and chavy. As it's Forge, it fits like a glove, but I may be tempted to sell if I get enough interest, as it's a been there got the t-shirt situation....

Callum,

Why would you want to keep something on the car that has an effect on it's performance ?

Hence why I'm asking if anyone wants to buy it!

TBH the performance difference is very very slight, it may even be my imagination, but as I mentioned I got it cheap and they are £350 new, so I thought what the hell, I can always sell it on and make money, as somebody always wants one, there's enough questions about them!

How much you wanting for it???

I'm open to offers, I'm not mega fussed about selling, but if someone offers me a good price then I'll sell! They are £350 new so get bidding!

If you're gonna sell, you'll have to join freedom. It's only £12.

Good point ! ;)

And £12 well spent it would be

so whats the end result here then, some say YES some say NO. I know it will sound good but I am thinking that is al I will get out of it. But once the car is remapped and with all my other items on it will the DV make a difference then?

It will make no difference at all.

There's another thread running about this on a diesel at the moment.

And the general opinon is they dont even sound good either.

They sound like a fat womans fart.

A Zafira TDI passed me the other day with one and it sounded like Donald Duck being penetrated with a large cucumber.

That quote still cracks me up :D

I have to diasgree, I think it sounds good, have you heard a proper Forge one?

As I said before, it's not blow your ears off loud, just a nice noise between gearshift.

My housemate has a MK1 Golf with a turbo lump in it, you should the dump valve on that! It would shatter windows!!

Not challenging the fact that they dont sound good on a petrol.

But on diesel, no.

imho if the manufacture didnt put one on, theres no point. my saab turbo had a recirculation valve. you couldnt fit an atmospheric valve as the ecu took account of the air in the recirc valve. might not be obvious now, but you could be starving / making it harder for the turbo.
