I'm sure Simpsons will have some more soon.

well I'm all sorted :)

thanks simpsons of preston :)

I've read the columbus & the BT manual from Stu's web site and a couple of things I'm uncertain of. Preston not being excly roudn th ecorner I hope that these niggles are down to my phone!

if anyone has any ideas about the following would appreciate your input

1) the columbus/mfd3 always displays "No Network"....I'm on Orange...everything seems ot work OK re dialing and answering and the signal bar is displayed OK.....I can;t see anything on the car end or phon eend that would change the provider or cause it to be displayed......SWMBOS blue&me (blaupunkt) system in her car displays "orange" when my phone is connected

2) call lists - I understadn that these are what you do from the BT kit only and NOT the phone call lists. However they are ALWAYS empty having made some calls and recieved some and missed some....is there anything I need to do to switch these on?

cheers

mf

What phone you using it with?

Steve

oops forgot to say

its a blackberry pearl

Its on all the lists I've seen as being compatible, if I didn't have the Columbus I wouldn't know about the "no network" thing because its not a thing that n the maxidot shows at all as far as I can see

It does sound typical of a phone issue, have you tried another phone?

Just tested with samsung g600 which works perfectly and the bt kit could even manage to see call lists from the phone which I didn't think it was supposed to do

Although my blackberry basically works, its a bit annoying considering it is on both compatabiloty lists I've seen :(

I am wondering if it is down to tight security employed by my work on the blackberry? I'm pretty sure for example that other than for identifying number and ppssibly network the sim is not used for storing any data...

Hmmmm...

How about putting some numbers on the SIM and see if you can enable rSAP.

there are actually some nums on the sim such as voice mail number

thing is phone book transferred perfectly

What's rSAP ?

remote Sim Access Profile

Some phones also have a setting along the lines of allowing the bluetooth device to access the phonebook.

still looking into this

Phonebook trasnfers 100% OK

I thought that my company's BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) and IT policy pushed to the handset may be affecting the call lists and service provider display.

My handset is a blackberry pearl 8100, so I tried a colleagues updated 8130 and all the call lists work so this would indicate its not down to the BES applied policy but the handset. With the newer handset the Columbus/MFD3 still shows "No network" though rather than the service provider

What I'm trying to get my head around is what features are required on the phone to enable various features of the BT kit to work.

For my 8100 the BT features listed are simply "Handsfree" and "Headset" - can;t see any way to change this.

For my colleagues 8130 the features listed in addition to what I have are "Dail-up networking", "audio source" and "A/V remote control target"....I don;t think any of these have anything to do with the BT kit operation though

as for rSAP - searched on my handset for antyhing akin to this but can't spot it. Probably need to google it. However I expect this would be down to the policy on the BES.

thanks for help so far

My N95 used to display no network.

hi stu....does that mean that your columbus does display the network now or you replaced the phone ith something else?!

anyway, I went back to the compatability list

http://briskoda.net/ice-security-insurance/skoda-bluetooth-phone-compatibility/88038/

It says that for the 8100 the SIM cannot be read only the phone memory

that would explain why the phone book is OK (which is in memory synced with my MS Outlook contacts via the BES) and I expect the other issues too, since the service provider must come from the SIM .....and I expect call logs may be on the SIM too

oh well.....at least all the placing and recieving calls actually works.

who maintains the compatability list and on what evidence is it based?

I think the list needs to change to show blackberry pearl 8100 partially compatable only, and 8130 slightly more compatable

cheers

I have a Sony Eriksson K810i on Orange and have the same issue, it doesn't show "Orange" although it shows the signal bar. But my works mobile is on Vodafone and it displays this network name

interesting swmbo's mobile is vodafone and that seems to display also

might be a network thing but I know orange network name is displayed when my phone is connected to blue&me (blaupunkt bt kit) in swmbo's car

Might be worth a quick call to orange...will let you know if I get anywhere

I got rid of that bl00dy N95 thing, drove me mad.

If you have ammendments for the BT compatibilty list please post them in the thread and I'll action it.

more info...

Tried my sim card in an old unlocked Sony k750i

again it worked 100%, call lists , network display on Columbus shows orange ok

So again this points to incompatability of the blackberry pearl

With the bt kit
