Does anyone know how much it would cost to get the fully integrated bluetooth kit fitted by say Simpsons of Preston or VRStu?

I am just finalising the spec of my next company car and it seems silly to not get the Maxidot included (seeing as i will be having a hands free kit kitted anyway to suit Nokia 6230i) and then get my employer to purchase the integrated bluetooth kit and then have it fitted to make full use of the phone book, dialled numbers, etc. i was just wondering on costs to compare.

As mentioned above i have a Nokia 6230i, has anyone had any issue with the phone book not loading itself into the kit when paired. i know that some users on other phones have had to switch to sim card contacts (which i do not really want to do as it splits all of the contacts details, correct me if i am wrong on this).

Any help on these matters would be much appreciated.

TBH the BT kit you can do yourself, I did mine, took several hours but I was taking my time and most of my time was wasted attempting to get the cables out the back of the quadlock. Eventually I just gave in and used crimps!

Coding takes 5 mins and many Briskodians with VagCom will do that for a couple of bear tokens (I would, but in Scotland).

I found the hardest part was the door sill trim but everything else was dead easy to do.

I think if you look in the main BT thread someone had Simpsons fitting there kit, so maybe PM them and ask.

i did mine myself when the car was a couple months old, it can be hard first time but it isnt impossible, just print off the instructions off stu's site which are pretty much idiot proof.

Contact Ants at Simpsons if you want to use them. There is no reason why you can't have a go yourself as long as you are reasonably competant. Plenty of people here who are willing to advise you.

I'm waiting fro my octy to be delievred, but like you it will be a company car. Therefore I want to get stuff like this fitted properly and have a gurantee with the work etc....I know everyone says its quite simple to fit yourself but I don;t want to mess anything up and get ticked off for it when I have to call someone to fix it!.....

The rest of the installation is generally straightforward for anyone with half an once of DIY ability (if you've less than half an once, then it's probably worth (and safer) paying for someone else to do it).

Went to Rainworth Skoda (Mansfield Showroom) today, trying to chose which colour to order, Race blue or Red ????, and got talking with the sales guys there and they are looking into them fitting one, and how much it would cost, also going to ask Horton's as they are only 5 miles down the road from me.

When i have a quote from them both i will post on here for info.

Just for anybody who's interested i have had a reply back from Rainworth's in Mansfield on the fitting of the OEM integrated bluetooth kit.

They will do it for the same price as Simpson's in Preston, which i believe was £399 to supply and fit.

But also on the same subject (this could turn out to be very interesting) after they had given me the prices on the BT, the sales guy who had been talking to the operations manager at Skoda Uk about the supply of the correct OEM kit (and the posibility of adding the european OEM BT code after the car has been ordered, similar to when you want a VRs in white) and the ops manager said that he was getting a new octavia surposedly fitted with an OEM BT kit to evaluate it with a view to it being made available on the UK supplied factory fit options.

I will post back on here when i have a reply.

It would make sense for them to do this and it can't be too difficult as they are already installed in the factory for EU models.

I wonder where Rainworth will get their parts from though as I don't think they can get the parts that cheaply through the network. Make sure they aren't quoting you for the BlueConnect unit.

If i remember correctly DM Keiths charged me 3 hours labour to fit the kit i bought from VRStu.

As far as I know SUK are concerned about 'encouraging' hands free phone calls as it could be xontributary to the cause of accidents etc. That's why they haven't offered the blue tooth as a factory option. The BlueConnect system will only work if the car is in neutral!

To ensure that they priced to supply and fit the correct kit i pointed them in the direction of the VRStu OEM Bluetooth fitting guide as this give all part numbers required.

Does anyone have any feedback on the phonebook and contacts from your phone when using my phone (a Nokia 6230i), i tried my phone on a collegues Parrot he has fitted to his Company Astra at lunch and it uploaded all of my phones contacts so i could scroll through them, and i checked to make sure my phone was set to use phone memory and not the sim to store contacts.

The compatibility problems tend to centre around Nokia Symbian phones.

Dazler - If you decide to get this done by Rainworth, do you reckon they'd give a discount if we got more than one car done at the same time as a sort of mini group buy type thing?

My octy is due for delivery 3rd June and I will want to get this fitted extra as soon as poss after

I think the control unit alone is more than that not to mention the microphone, bracket and they'll need to make up a wiring loom.

It will be good if they do it for that price, it will mean that a lot more people can have a kit that really should be a factory option.

When we were getting our kits in the first GB I rang my dealer and I seem to remember the controller was £275 + vat.

I can't see how they can do it for £250 especially if that includes fitting.

now I finally have my new octy, gave rainworth motors a call about this

they are quite happy to order all the parts and give this a go although it is something they said they had not done before and were a little unsure about mfd3 compataibility (although I know it will be OK)

the guy I spoke to remembered Dazler.....he said they would need my car all day, it would take 2 weeks to get the parts....also cost is £400 PLUS VAT (£470)

Actually in fairness to them that is probably about the right price for an Interface through the UK dealer network.

As long as they get the 1Z0 035 729 B interface then it is fully compatible with the Columbus.
