Asus EeePc 900

I had the original Eeebygum PC 701 from Asus and was delighted with it until me eyes started bleeding and my fingers cramped up with scrollng the screen about all the time. So i sold it on fleabay breaking even in the process. i promised meself I'd get the bigger one when they came out and it came int post from Play.com today.

I ordered a 12GB XP version but they delivered a 20GB Linux one instead, i'm not complaining though as I have an old XP boot disc lying about somewhere. Just need to work out how to reduce the size of the install. It's black this time as well, I think I preferred the original white one, the keys were easier to see.

All in all,the display is a hundred times better, it renders web pages without having to sideways scroll now, I've noticed one dead pixel but I'm not really bothered by it. The 1GB RAM is an improvement as well but will probably look for a 2GB upgrade after XP install (which I'm not looking forward to). It's great for casual browsing and the wireless works really well. The only thing that takes the sheen off is the price - 329 poond. It's not quite the bargain it once was as you can get a full size laptop for near that price now. that's not why you buy an EeePc though.

Have to say that as someone has managed to stuff a 9"er into the original screen housing im tempted to wait and see how easy this would be

Yeah, its not just that though...

The 900 runs at the full 900mhz instead of 630, has 1gb of ram and up to 20gb SSD (user upgradable via the pci-e slot) so the extra £100 isnt so bad if you take that into account

Coo er missus. I like. Bit pricey but then again no it`s not. If it was a Sony or Apple it would be £1,000 to start. I like very much.

True but we all know the clock speed isnt an issue and the memory i have free access to.

I've read a few, it's all conjecture I suppose. I've read that the Atom will use hyper threading, but execute-in-order. It's bound to be quick, and probably with very low power consumption...

But as you've already proved, you'll probably be able to upgrade and sell your 900 for a profit in a couple of months!

Its like anything else though if you always wait for the next one you would buy nothing electronic
