Interior light problems...

Featured Replies

My car is a 2002 / 52 elegance 110tdi estate, and recently, the interior light has stopped working from the drivers door, the puddle lights have stopped working on the drivers door. the door ajar warning light doesnt work off the drivers door and the lights on warning buzzer dont work either.

Now ive spent hours using the search function and have come to the conclusion its more than likely the microswitch in the drivers door latch /catch mechanism?

My question is, what do i ask for at the local dealer in respect of a "part description"?

Is it the door catch, latch, switch, etc etc....?

oh by the way, the remote locking works fine, the led flashes when it should on the door panel, the windows & mirrors all work fine as well - if that helps.

Its just the silly niggling faults i'm trying to sort out then i can finally enjoy the car at its best!

I appreciate its a frequently asked question, i'm just aware that i want to order the "right" part from the stealers to fix it properly!

I don't know the part name, but I'd say you're on the right lines as to where the fault is.

I've got exactly the same problem too!

2 routes....

-Fit a new microswitch to the lock (you have to find a suitable switch yourself and solder it in)

-New lock mechanism from Skoda

Or option 3....

Ignore it! Mine comes back to life if you squirt some WD into it, but it stops again after about 6 months. I'm just living with it, because it doesn't really bother me.

Well you have the correct symptoms of a micro switch problem and same as what I had.

I wrote up this guide if it helps, when I felt brave enough attempting the job. Still working great so a cheap mod. If you don't feel like attempting this, then you will need to ask for a Door Lock Mechanism. I think the P/N is either 3B2837015L or 3B1837016AD, but skoda can confirm. Squirting WD40 can sometimes work as it frees up resistance on the rotar arm that triggers the switchs and cleans the terminals. (need to well exercise the lock if doing this). Did not work at all for mine though as the microswitch when removed had no switch arm left.

Here is the link to my guide.

Thanks for the tips - tried some WD40 and it seems to have helped. If it comes back I might try something more drastic - like trying to replace the switch!!

same as i have this problem intermitantly

Woo thanks, I know how to take the door apart from when i was a mechanic for skoda, just good to see where the switch is before i go delveing in the door.

thanks

No worries, hope you get it sorted.

Replacing the micro switch is a time consuming job and not sure i would do it again. You can't get an exact switch as the standard one is plastic melted onto the carrier, unless you know someone in the trade that supplies them. I ended up with a similar one that I had to drill out the holes in to align onto the holes in the carrier then fitted small screws and nuts onto it. Still working though

cheers

Mark.

Thanks for re-posting that Bowders1. Ian
