don't know what Hannah would say through

Get them all dropped!!!! Even if only on eibach springs. IMO the VRS standard ride height is way too high. It is supposed to be a sporty car and i hope in the next model Skoda realise this and make the setup lower as standard. Or at least offer a upgrade to achieve lower set up.

But then if i drop it...hows it gonna sit ?

Will new springs drop it to the same as others with Eibachs ?

Or say -25mm from where it is now ?

I had springs on order, but they were taking an age so cancelled them.

New springs should make it the same as other Eibach setups, as it's the height of the spring that will determine where the car sits.

I have a set of Eibachs sitting in the bedroom with 5k on them. But think I'm gonna go the Coilover route when I can afford it.

If you can afford it defo go for coilovers, then once they are on and the car is settled if you are unhappy you can simply adjuct the height. I did some extensive research in to coilovers a while back and found a brand called V-maxx, big in america and Oz but not over hear. THey are high quality but mass produced to keep the price down. Big boys toys in essex stock them. THink they are £250 not fitted.

THe car will sit high initially (Still lower than standard) until the springs settle. How low you want your car depends on the springd you order. 25mm drop 35mm drop etc.

Maybe the car is just breathing out after all those years being driven by Briskoda's official Fat Knacker

Don't know what you mean - he's not fat he's just big boned .... powered by Greggs Steak bakes :D

I've done the coilover thing on other cars, and i'm not fussy about being adjustable.

There's a full KW spring/shock set for £350 available. Or a full Weitec spring/shock set for £285.

Only joking Colin anyway going to Greggs ? :bike:

Just fit some eibachs and be done with it.

Cheers, but doesn't really get to the bottom of it does it. :P

the only thing i can possibly think of would be maybe if the springs had been fitted upside-down or aint seated properly

It's a possibility, but then as you know, it's still handles reasonably well, and is high all round.

Did you use eibach shocks too ?

This is something I've been think about with mine. I cant remember what way I fitted them. Are the paint markings meant to be at the top or bottom?

Hmm...not sure.

I can pop out to the carpark and see if i can see mine.

Hmmm.. does it look like the coil at the top and bottom of the spring are the same size? ie would the top coil fit into the cup at the bottom and vice versa?

  • Author

I think it's wider at the bottom by the looks of it, so if they were to be the wrong way, i dont think it would be an easy mistake.

Picture from Ebay of a set of fabia vRS springs.

Cant make out the rears though.

Just spoken to MikeSM56 who kindly went and checked the OE springs that were removed from his, and they have the same dots on as mine.

How weird.

Same diameter top and bottom. So i would rule out put on wrong way etc..

Do they look to be fitted at the top ok ?

Who knows.

If I remember right both front and rear coils have the same diameter top and bottom. Makes life harder.
