anti-roll kit

Featured Replies

thinking about the eibach front and rear antiroll kit for my tfsi

anyone have experience with them?

alternative would be a whiteline rear arb on its own, but am having difficulty finding a stockist - any ideas?

thanks

Are you looking to stiffen the whole car or adjust the handling balance to reduce understeer? If the latter then a stiffer rear ARB is the answer.

As far as I know only Neuspeed sell front and rear bars separately, all others Eibach, Whiteline, etc are only available in pairs.

Here is a table of comparable sizes of ARB available for the Octy II.

Octy vRS OEM - Front 23mm, Rear 22mm

H & R 1 (Golf V) - Front 26mm, Rear 22mm (adjustable)

Eibach (Golf V) - Front 26mm, Rear 23mm

Neuspeed (Golf V) - Front 25mm, Rear 25mm (adjustable)

H & R 2 (Golk V) - Front 28mm, Rear 24mm (adjustable)

I hope that helps.

do you find the rear arb makes a noticeable difference in the handling?

ps - i take it then i could order a golf V arb and it will fit fine on the octavia with no modification necessary?

thx again

I have a neuspeed rear ARB only on my car.

It makes a subtle but noticeable difference taking the inherent understeer of the car, particularly with the heavier TDI engine, and transforms it to neutral with perhaps a whiff of oversteer; turn in is also sharper.

Yes; fitting the rear ARB is a pretty simple 15-20 min job once you have the car on a ramp, to remove the existing and replace the new with the same fittings.

Could i fit one of those to my L&K TDIestate (King of the understeer!) or is it only really feasable on a Vrs?

I looked at the options; mainly either having just a rear fitted or a set of front and rear. I spoke to a couple of people who had been lucky enough to drive the VRS with both setups and the one comment that come back was that the rear only upgrade could induce some oversteer if pushed in the wet.

For this reason I went for the Eibach front and rear ARB's.

Difference is excellent. More neutral (almost totally) and massively heightened ability - stays flat as a pancake on both sharp and long tighening corners. :)

Interesting...

how much did you pay for the eibach set? Yesterday on the highway I found a humble golf III with a stiff and lowered setup which coped very well with corners, I bet better than my setup.

Yes; definitely.

Fluffmeister had a Neuspeed rear ARB that he transferred from a vRS to an Elegance.

You have to be really pushing it to get full oversteer in the wet (which I haven't managed yet)' date=' but I have to admit that there is a hint of oversteer with just an upgraded rear bar fitted.

However, it has made a big reduction to the inherent understeer in my vRS TDI.

Doesn't this make the car too stiff overall for good handling in the cold/wet? You need some roll to provide a forgiving nature to the handling.

Nope, also got the FSD's done and these actually help with comfort/complaincy (believe it or not).

The setup is by far the best that Ive ever had on a car for mixing performance and comfort. (and Ive played with lots of aftermarket stuff in the past). :)

Balance Motorsport are doing a deal on Whiteline RARBs at present. I've bought one for my mk1 VRS, but they also stock for the mkII too. 15% off in the Group buy section if your interested.

I would agree with that. However, I just went with the Eibach RARB which seems to have kept things still safely on the understeer side of neutral which is just where I want it. ;)

wondering is there any difference for the estate/combi/wagon? or any A5 rear sway bar will do?

The fitment is the same on all A5 chassis the Whiteline is adjustable so you can choose the resistance you want but the 2 wheel drive estate only weighs 15kg more than the hatch so a different original bar is unlikely

Hi

Can someone answer me a simple question, as I am thinking about a Rear ARB for my Mk2 Octy Hatch VRS

OK I know the old sayings etc etc pay for what you get

but why are all the other performance makes for the Golf V chassis ( Eibach - H&R - KW - Neuspeed) all around £100 more than the Whiteline ones ???

I know some are 26mm and so thicker - But £100 quid better quality ?? I'm not convinced

Thanks :D

Andy

do you know if it (BWR20 or BWR20XZ) will fit the 4x4 or scout ---- mines a bit lumpy when not loaded in the back but the roll's not too bad but only 5k miles yet
