road tax

Featured Replies

I'm trying to work out this threatened road tax increase. Does anyone know what band the Octy II, 2.0FSI falls into?

I believe this comes into force on 1 April 2009. If so for some drivers it will be cheaper to get 6 months now if renewing in the next few months, then 12 months at the old rates before it comes in!

Even if the government re-think this they will just find some other way for taxing us.

VED Rates in 2009-10

Band A (up to 100g/km CO2) no fee

Band B (101-110g/km CO2) £20

Band C (111-120g/km CO2) £30

Band D (121-130g/km CO2) £90

Band E (131-140g/km CO2) £110

Band F (141- 150g/km CO2) £120

Band G (151 to 160g/km CO2) £150

Band H (161 to 170g/km CO2) £175

Band I (171 to 180g/km CO2) £205

Band J (181 to 200g/km CO2) £260

Band K (201 to 225g/km CO2) £300

Band L (226 to 255g/km CO2) £415

Band M (Over 255g/km CO2) £440

IIRC the current vRS PD 170 TDi hatch is 151 that puts it in G

but I've been told that the new engine vRS CR 170 TDi is only 150 so band F

Hope I'm correct

:P

it falls into J mate, but according to a national car magazine its only 177 and not 181 as on the car log book.

I'm talking about the DIESEL vRS

sorry I know it wasn't the original question

just ALSO looking for confirmation about the new CR DIESEL HATCH MANUAL

My tax runs out end of September so I was planning 6 months(Up to end of March) and then renew early for the year @ £210 again!

I still don't get this new system. Just got my paperwork for renewal - tax is due end of June.

12 months is going to be £170. That's £5 up on last year.

I thought it was going way over £200?

Thought you meant from next year when all the bands change.

That may be the current CO2 output for the 2.0 fsi but it used to be more

The CO2 changes from model year to model year as improvements are made.

If you want to find out what the DVLA consider the CO2 to be for a specific vehicle then go to:

DVLA Vehicle Licensing Online | Home

select "Vehicle Enquiry"

select "next"

Input reg no and vehicle make

select "next"

Up pops a screen that tells you engine size, CO2, fuel, colour, date of registraton, when your tax is due and the current rate for 12 and 6 months - for the upcoming rate see the figures posted above.

Can also be used to check out a prospective purchase

The current brochure lists the CO2 as follows:

Hatchback:

1.4 16V 167

1.6FSI 158

1.6FSI Tiptronic 181

2.0FSI 150bhp Tiptronic 198

1.9TDI DSG 156

2.0TDI 145

2.0TDI DSG 158

Estate:

But even if models change, improve or whatever over the years, surely they have to go by your own car and the year it was built.

Anyway, I'm not complaining - it is better than I was expecting and hopefully by the time the next lot comes around a certain Mr. G. Brown will be put in charge of painting double yellow lines around his secure room in Colney Hatch.

:thumbup:I just bought 6 months yesterday to do exactly that.

Yes they do. The latest 105BHP 1.9TDi has CO2 emissions listed as 130g/km but my 06 model is taxed at 138g/km and will be until the day it dies or until they find another way of ripping us off.

They will use the number on the V5, nothing else matters!
