Don't you pay a big premium on the purchase price of a diesel car too? Don't you have to do something like 60,000 miles in it or something silly before it becomes worth having diesel?

Coupled with ridiculous pump prices,I agree,what benefits are there now?

It varies depending on how much more economical it is than the petrol option.

It certainly wasn't anything like 60k for my octavia , and though you do pay a bit more for a diesel car you will get a very large chunk of that back at resale time anyway
