........i am paying less for my V-power petrol for the vRS than standard diesel for the Mondeo. That's a ridiculous state of affairs.

£122.9 for V power yesterday £58 for 325 miles.

Diesel is up to £128.9 around here.

What's the point in having a diesel anymore, or has this aready been said. :o

I have to say, I like the performance feel of diesels. They are much more like big V8s in their delivery and that can’t be a bad thing can it (if only they sounded better). I now have a car that weighs a lot more than my Scooby, has a noticeably higher top speed, similar power, nearly 50% more torque and does twice the mpg, so it’s a thumbs up for Diesel from me.

Still loved my Scoobys, but that’s another story

Paid 133.9 for v power diesel earlier. :( £58 for a tank full....

I would still not go back to a petrol, the price may be 15ppl more for Diesel but I would still be better off than using a petrol.

Plus, I like the feel of the Diesel.

So what do we think about diesels in their own right, not as just a fuel saving device? They have won at le Mans and in the BTCC now.

Looks like the new HCC whatever engine is going to virtually span the two - when they get them to work properly.

I thought this was a back burner of an idea? The sort that has been around for ages but never really goes into full time production. I would love the money to be invested into making a TDi sound more petrolly if you know what I mean.

Vauxhall are talking about introducing it into Insignia range soon.

I am hoping that we get ethanol first…bruuuuuuuuuuum

We'll still be importing Japanese castoffs then.

Damn, I didn't know the Japs stooped that low.

i found a cheap shell garage yesterday £118.9 or £119.9 for vpower unleaded on a road between chedder and bath (back roads) certainly cheaper than the 123.9 up near me.

There might have been a couple of threads on the subject....

At the moment, diesel is 10% more expensive than unleaded so you need to be getting a fair amount more than 10% higher mpg before a diesel is worth it.

I reckon I get at least 30% more than a 2.0FSI would have done so it's still worth it for me.

I'm eyeing up a Fiat Bravo 1.6TDI Eco for the next car - MPG in the 60s :)

Filled the Superb up yesterday on the A34, still showing 100 miles to empty, £74.40

............................and the moral of the story is, dont fill up on the A34! ;)

Tell me about it.

Luckily it's still to go really silly with prices up here.

I filled up lastnight at £1.21 a litre which wasnt too bad all things considered.

154bhp and 150g /km from a 2.2 engine isn't exactly stellar is it? It that a Charged engine or just N/A I wonder.
