Diesel VRS v 140TDI

Featured Replies

Recently switched from 2.0 TDI Elegance (Long term MPG around 50) to new Diesel VRS.

Anybody any idea how long it will take for MPG to get up to old car (currently 41-42MPG)

Cheers Iain

My Guess would be never ;)

I doubt if it will go all the way up, but IME the engine loosens up a bit by 20k.

mine has just under 14k on the clock and is starting to loosen up a bit. I'm getting about 50 on a decent run, but no more than 35-40 around town. The addition of REVO software probably helps my mpg a little when i'm not hooning around like a yob, in which case mpg is considerably lower.

Around 10k if you don't use the performance...

Keeps on gaining with time in my experience. My PD140 achieved high 30's when new and now with 21k manages mid to high 40's, but I live in a hilly area and my right foot isn't light. ;)

I am in the mid to high 50s with my TDI140. I guess as long as you drive sensibilly, because the engine is basically the same 2.0 unit with some tweaks then simillar figures should be possible. Mine was nice and loose at around 25K when the mpg seemed to level off.

I can get mid 60's if i take it easy, otherwise it's in the 50's unless pushing on then it's high 40's

My vRS now has 10.5K on it and can get 55mpg if and thats a big IF I take it easy.

Went down to Stoke to see my family last week and was reporting (brim to brim) 55mpg. Doing average of 60 all the way.

Yesterday did a round trip up north to see friends which was a 240 mile round trip and got about 38 to the gallon. Journey north was average of 80 and the back was average of 90 with a couple of times up to 125.

Cant really complain about that!

If it loosens up more then great!
