Fog lights when towing

Featured Replies

I know Towsure do a devise for cancelling the foglight when towing a caravan but do Skoda do one for our A5 Elegance 55 plate?.

If you have the genuine electrics I believe it is built into the socket, it was on the fabia one that I installed.

Why would you want to get one from skoda if towsure do one?

there is another way of doing it: you can get a 7N socket with a fog light cut

off, all you need is a extra cable down to the back of the socket, and wire it

throught the switch on the socket.

Hi Radiotwo, the Skoda loom does not have the automatic cutout at least ours does not. Regarding the cut out on the back of the socket, i have done this on X-trail and found out after a short time it fails and has been known to fail M O T . When i looked at it the contact seems to "corode". Anyway thanks for suggestion, will look to see whether anybody else has done ot.

PS.the reason i have not gone down the Towsure route is because the car is still under warranty( they would not even hardwire my TOM TOM in because of warranty problems.

When I got my Scout's twin electrics done by the Skoda dealer who supplied the car I had a bit of trouble initially with fog lights and parking sensors not being de-activated when the caravan was hitched up. The dealer eventually got it right and he said that it was done via VAG-COM.

So it seems that the Skoda wiring loom has the capability to control these things if it is set properly by computer.

It is much better having the parking sensors off when hitched up and you are reversing onto a pitch!
