Fuel gauge reading incorrectly

Featured Replies

Does anyone else have a fuel gauge that doesnt read "full" when it is?

My current Ovtavia doesnt, the previous Octavia didnt, and my other halfs Fabia doesnt. Any one know why, is it something simple to fix or do you just have to put up with it? icon_question.gif

When I have filled my tank the max, it shows as full - as expected. As you have issues with 2 Octavias and the misses' Fabia, then maybe it is the way you are filling the tank?

Do you stop filling once th epump first stops, or do you keep going? I am nearly always get at least another 1 1/2 litres in after the initial stop (I like to round it up to a whole pound. Give fuel prices these day I can sometimes round to the two pounds away from the initial stop.

No, we both pull the nozzle out and pump na bit more in. My last Octavia did come near to the full mark on doing that but this new one sits halfway between full and 3/4s everytime.

I still get around 450-500 miles per tank so its obviously full but just doesnt register as so!!

No never had this problem, though I rarely fill my tank up.

As its not worth dragging the extra weight around having a full tank, affect fuel consumption you see. ;)

The gauge can be adapted within certain parameters by a dealer or VAG Com for a better calibration.

Great, Thanks for the info.I`ll check it out next time I`m able.:thumbup:

Mine stops on about 7/8, when the cut-off cuts.

But, when you've cold ground and a warm spring day and night, it rises to about 15/16 full by the next morning, after me driving 7 miles home from the garage (which is on the way).

Yeah I have the same thing. It never reads full.

It always used to, but seems a bit off now.

No idea why....

I guess i need to check how much I'm putting in and have a think.

Very weird really, even when I`ve pulled the nozzle out, left it for a few seconds and then topped up a bit at a time, it still only registers around 7/8 ths full. Yet my previous Octavia then registered full. Oh well, if it can be sorted fine.If not as long as I keep getting 500+ miles between fills I dont mind.:)

Sounds like the pressure cut-off on your new car is working properly then; even the 500ish miles between fills is about what I'd expect.
