Hello

I've just bought a 2004 Octavia L&K Estate TDI 130 (34K miles) after a long run of various Audi/VW vehicles, and I've come here to have a look at useful hints and wrinkles.

Currently the vehicle is trouble-free, and I was delighted to find that the locks slam shut automatically when I start moving. The irritating counterpart to this is that they all fly open again when I take the key from the ignition, but I see there is a remedy for this, so all will be well.

I am also hugely excited by the idea that I will be able to get the windows/roof to shut from the remote locking button. How exciting!

On a more technical note (and I'm not very technical, really) I'm very pleased with the car, which replaced a 2002 Bora TDI 130 Sport (97K). The handling is not as tight, but I guess one might expect that from a) an estate and B) from a car which does not have sports suspension; that's just a guess, as I don't really know much about that kind of thing. I tend to drive conservatively (as in 'conserving diesel') in any case.

The economy is just as good as the Bora, and there are lots of creature comforts/gizmos (esp. sunroof and cruise) which one would have to pay handsomely for from the VW/Audi stable. The vast boot with easy access is a great convenience.

In summary, pleased with it so far, and very pleased to have access to the accumulated wisdom of this BBS.

Many thanks!

Many thanks for the kind welcome!

I shall continue quietly (for the moment) to read and learn.

Welcome to Briskoda..

Hiya.

I drive "economically" in that sense too. More specifically, I don't use the brakes, because all they do is slow you down! ;)
