VRS exhaust

Featured Replies

Does changing your exhaust make any difference to the noise or just make it sound like a tractor? im finding it hard to get used to the desiel noise after allways having petrol which sounds amazing with a good exhaust. Nothing noisy or chavvy but i did have a mini cooper with a john cooper works exhaust and it sounded unreal. Kinda want the fabia to sound better but dont think its possible to make diesels sound good is it? Would quite like a miltek one because my dad has one on his octavia vrs (petrol) and it sounds really good

Miltek does sound a lot better than oem under load but at tick over it is still a tractor :)

mufflerectomy ftw, chop the box off get a pipe attatched with a tail pipe of your choice.

saves weight, sounds mint and is cheap! burbles at idle when under load and revving it sounds alright too. they will always sound like a derv.

here is mine, rev in second gear.

not the best but for 80quid exhaust much improved from standard.

A miltec, blueflame or custom system will sound more "burbly" than standard. For a major difference in sound, you need to de-cat, but that's another kettle of fish.

Whats the law with having no cat or box?

As in, a pipe straight from the turbo to the back.

Dave

If it passes the soot test, and is less than 120dB, then it will be legal.

Whats the chances on a '53 furby vRS wth 54k on the clock?

In theory you can't remove the cat. But it'll still pass an MOT as there's no specific emissions test for diesels.

Also in theory, if you, yourself butcher the exhaust, you could get pulled up on it. Though if you commission a complete replacement pipe and get a receipt from an exhaust shop, they can't really do much unless they like "Section 59" and try to do you for being a nuisance.

In reality, as long as it's not F! loud you'll likely be OK.

J.

How much louder would it be then?

(complete straight through).

I know the turbo supresses the noise a little.

If its going to be too loud, would a cherrybomb straight through backbox make much difference.

Dont know much about loudness on derv's.

Opinions welcome.

Thanks, Dave.

Anyone?

Thanks.

To get more of a roar a decat is required, Noise at idle will remain much the same only really noticeable when on boost. Makes quite a powerful note

BUT Dont fit a decat to a Fabia vRS with a standard turbo as the decreased backpressure will cause the turbo to spool quicker and end up in a Mess

Please don't give unevidenced advice. This has been covered multiple times, and the only evidence suggests that a decat and standard turbo with a remap MAY cause issue. With the standard map, all appears to be fine. And I can say that as my car has been running a decat on the standard map for 5k.

Well i have witnessed a Fabia with a decat blow up infront of my eyes and have also heard of other's namely Scudmissiles. Obviously as this is a forum where people come with problems the likelihood of this occurring is some what over exagerated but IMO anything that would be likely to stress the already weak KKK turbo even more is a bad move

I tend to agree - I prefer to have a decent safety margin!

So what about a decat and debox?

Or will that be too loud?

Dave
