Skoda rage!!

Featured Replies

as stated in previous thread i have been proud owner of 04 vrs for 3 weeks now, great car just lovin it, but is it just me or do people just hate being overtaken by a skoda lol.

i had a guy in a newish saab last night that i passed at a set of lights who was going nuts to get back past me.

numerous cars that i have overtaken, and curtiously i hasten to add, have then hooned it back and ridden my bumper, is this because its a skoda, never had this problem before, althought its very nice to be able to put ur foot in and wave goodbye lol

Hi mate,

we have a lot of people trying it on with our skoda, coming up behind it only for them to be surprised when you out accelrate them!

Thing of nice plumes of black smoke!

yes your entirely right.

Most people are still anti-skoda.

But they are such good cars, they can overtake with ease.

i debaged my the other day, hopin that would stop some of it, but no such luck.

im thinking of startin to take the **** back now and replace the centre of my skoda badges with a stylized snail, and see what they think of that, will post some pics when ive done it lol

I doubt it has anything to do with it 'being a Skoda'.

I do however think there is a condition called Skoda Paranoia, where some Skoda owners get over sensitive about their cars.

The sort of posts that include comments like 'he was gutted being overtaken by a Skoda' or 'he couldn't believe a skoda could be that fast' etc etc are what I mean.

I think Skoda Paranoia is often accompanied by 'Skoda chip on the shoulder', which I believe is an optional extra and can be seen on P14 of the official 'extras' booklet.

BTW I had an Octavia vRS for 18 months and never experienced any of this.

Congrats on the VRS:thumbup:. I am a new owner too, and in my first journey was subjected to some pushy driving. What a letdown:thumbdwn:. Mine has tinted windows so perhaps is a bit chav (let down by driver not being at all chav-ish:O). I made a decision as I drove, and perhaps it may help you a little too.

If you are walking along and someone wants to walk faster than you, they get round you and continue. It is not ususal to walk faster than them just to prove you can - let them go. On the road we do not even have the luxury of seeing the driver close up - they may be angry, on drugs or even a wanted criminal. Same as with walking - let them go by. Don't let them spoil your journey with their actions. I guarantee you that after a few moments of them passing you they will forget all about it and move onto someone fresh to pass.

Why even bother trying to 'prove' that you can go faster then them? Why should someone else's pushy behaviour force you to do something you were not intending to do? Having driven a 44 BHP Skoda Estelle for many years, I found that it now ruffles my feathers not one jot when anybody wants to pass. In fact I am happy to see them gone.

Very wise words:thumbup:

I don't think it's the fact that it is a Skoda, more that it has sporty-looking bumpers, alloys and style detail. I'd imagine that they attract the attention a lot more than a Skoda badge ever would...

I doubt it has anything to do with it 'being a Skoda'.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

:thumbup:

I put it down to people wanting to see what it is lol

Since i got my remap, i dont bother anymore...........just knowing i have a bit of power makes me smile Even more funny when a corsa or other such car blasts past you, subs thumping away and big stupid exhaust blaring, gets pulled 100 yards up the road lol lol lol

Mind you......Fiesta ST's still annoy me!!! :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Wise words Ian

I had a taxi up my chuff yesterday

Coming home I have a black Vectra taxi sitting on my rear bumper in a 30mph zone, the road widens, I pull left to give room to pass....does he......nooooo

so I pull out again as theres a parked car ahead then Taximan decides to flor it and overtake going on the other side of the road (which was clear)

Only to brake harshly to a stop 200+ yards in front where people were stopped at a pelican crossing.

Mines silver, its invisible... completely invisible to everyone, including the police ;)

I don't usually have this problem, largely cos I'm so quick down the road that no-one I overtake can keep up, even when they try to! ;)

Why a pic of a drive and a house?

12 months in the Octy vRS for me and I've not had any plonkers try to race me.

The Octy seems to be pleasantly stealthy.

My mate is constantly being 'challenged' to races by chav mobiles (Corsa/Saxo, lots of plastic stick on parts from Halfords ned dept, loud stereo and rusty wings) in his Ford ASBO (in GBH orange).

:rolleyes::rofl:

I actually photoshopped somebody else's fabia in. . .

I have had this a couple of times in my silver vRS octy.

Followed a BMW for several miles at 50mph in a 50 limit. Dont bother overtaking as he is doing the limit anyway.

Come to a 70 zone and he didnt speed up so I overtook. As soon as I was in front he sped up, right up behind me. I'm still doing 70. BMW overtakes me at 80ish then soon as he is in front starts to slow back down to 50 over the next mile or so. Whats that about then?

TBH I get the same when in the works van, a 85bhp transit SWB. Some people just dont like to be behind certain other vehicles. Vans and Skodas are 2 of them.

Try driving a Roomster!

It seems every other driver wants to race or try traffic light grand prix.

But i have a sting in the tale, i have the 1.6 Roomster 3 and it can shift. It goes like stink now that the engine is losening up, and boy is it fun to drive:)

I don't think it's anything to do with being a Skoda. Possibly it's to do with the 'sports' bits but most likely is that some people are just ****s.

Having said all that, I've never had any grief whilst in my RS but years ago, driving my wife's Panda, I used to get grief all the time. Maybe my driving style has matured. Maybe you are 'enjoying' your new RS a bit more than you realise & it's winding others up?

Not a criticism, just a thought. :thumbup:

enjoying it too much, is that possible lmao

and heres me thinking im being curtious by missin their front bumper by a couple of feet instead of inches as i cut in lol

I never experience this phenomema my self tbh.

And I do 300-350 miles a week in mine.

Not that I condone such childish behaviour and I would never ever do this myself, ;):rolleyes:, but, if ever a lesser vehicle overtakes you and you know you can out accelerate it, let it get level, drop a gear or 2 and floor it!

That REALLY pi$$es the chav brigade off:rofl::rofl:

Well, so I'm told, co's I'd never do that.............:rolleyes::o

Even in my old 1.3 Favorit Estate I can move away from standstill much faster than other cars. I think probably the reason is either most other people drive like grannies, or if they stick their accelerator to the floor scary things will happen for them :D I like to get up to speed faster and watch them break the speed limit to overtake. Oh, especially when you come up to the speed cameras and they slam on the brakes and you continue at the legal speed and end up undertaking them :rofl:

Too much TV - everyone thinks they're a Shumacher these days :(

I stick with an old adage - Once = happenstance Twice = circumstance Thrice = enemy action.

Unless it's a ch*vmobile - then I can't resist :o:D:(

BMW - choose from "Bayerishe Mist Wagon" or "Big Man's ah, male member".

In the first case, Mist can be translated from German as either "faeces, colloquial, vulgarism" or "Male self-abuser, colloquial, vulgarism". In the second, he's compensating for something! ;)
