Garmin i3 Streetpilot Sat-Nav

Featured Replies

Anyone got any experience of these wee things ?

Am considering getting one.

Any better alternatives ? For under £90 ?

And before you all say I should get an expensive Tom-Tom, I have no need for (and no wish to pay for):

European maps

A huge screen

Bluetooth/mp3 capability

and don't really mind if a scroll-wheel takes a few minutes longer to enter a postcode than a touchscreen does.

All I want is something that'll stop me getting lost when I'm somewhere new and SWMBO's not there to read the map.

I had an i3 and wasn't impressed. Yes it's small but I found it quite slow at times, especially when trying to calculate a new route if you have gone of course.

I know you didn't want to hear the word TomTom but if it were my money I would pay the extra for TomTom one. Halfords are doing them for £119.99 at the mo. Worth every penny IMHO.

Feel free to say "sod off" if I haven't helped:D

Edit- Forgot to add - The jog wheel on the i3 will drive you mad. I wouldn't be without a touch screen.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 200w

Postcode navigation, cameras with a nice big screen

Doesn't have bluetooth and mp3 but I didnt really want that.

As a navigation device its really good.

You could always get Tomtom on a PDA. Thats a good solution, i have Tomtom on my XDA :D

Sat Navs arent that dear really.

If you dont want the gimmicks like the bluetooth/mps etc then you can bag a useful device for a relative bargain.

My mate has the TomTom 910 its a brilliant device as it can read your text messages, has a remote mp3 and everything but he doesnt really use all those features anyway but my mechanic has the Tomtom 1 which is IMO the better device.

**edit**

Found This

Under £90 new (just)

It isnt a slimline one like more newer units but it's good. My Dads friend has one of these.

I've got an i3 and it is fantastic.

You don't need half the junk that most of the new ones come with that turn you into speed camera obsessed junkies with no idea if Scotland is at the top or bottom of the country.

am now interested in the NavMan s30 as well, which has come into my price range thanks to some vouchers/points, providing I buy it from the correct place.

Not seen many people on the multitude of SatNav threads on here say much about NavMan.....
