Power Steering Fluid Equivalents

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm trying to find out what products are equivalents of VW/Audi/Skoda G 002 000 power steering fluid.

The only one I've found so far is Comma CHF 11S Central Hydraulic Fluid. Does anyone know if any of the following products are ok to use in my Fabia Classic 1.9 SDi?

  • Slick 50 Power Steering Fluid
  • Halfords Power Steering Fluid
  • Halfords Automatic Transmission and Power Steering Fluid DIII
  • Halfords Automatic Transmission and Power Steering Fluid DII
  • Halfords Ford M2C Fluid

The ones on the list above I can get from my local Halfords, the Comma I can only get from Wilco Motor Spares, and I just know I'm going to get lost trying to find the store in Peterborough!

Thanks for any advice!

Why?

Because I don't know where to get my hands on the G 002 000 VW/Audi/Skoda power steering fluid - I just thought a store like Halfords, or Motor World, would carry either the product itself, or an equivalent, hence my question

Pentosin fluid is required, don't put ATF in you will ruin the system.

Best advice is to buy from any VAG main agent.

I just put in what i had in my garage its red what a stupid place to put a Bootle air filter box out battery out and battery Case

This may come as a bit of a shock but how about a VW, Audi or Skoda dealer?:rolleyes:

I've just spent the last hour or so filling the power steering fluid reservoir with Comma CHF 11S. Most of the time was spent removing and replacing the battery & associated housing. I'm stumped as to why Skoda decided on this particular design!

Here's a few snaps I took:

I also found a loose nut underneath the housing that might explain an annoying rattle I couldn't track down from within the car. It fits one of the housing securing bolts, obviously lost the last time someone went through this procedure.

The difference to the steering though is amazing :D

Thing is unless its been short filled or you have a leak the level shouldnt ever change hence it being under there.

Expect a knackered pump and/or rack soon then.

Just checked mine yesterday and it needs a top up. The fluid in there seemed to be almost black is that right? What's the best way to swap the fluid? Just drain with a syphon then refill? What's the system capacity?

Think capacity is less than a litre, I've refilled mine twice from dry with a 2 litre (i think) bottle and there's still enough left for another refill.

The PAS fluid should never need topping up, if you are having to add fluid then its leaking somewhere.

Yep. It is, power steering rack....but no funds means ill just keep topping it up every 18mth.
