What are all these filters?

Featured Replies

I've just had my 60,000 mile service during which the flywheel was replaced as it was making a loud rattle type noise. The garage tell me that the replacement is a revised part and that they therefore hope that it won't "go" again.

I've just had my bill for the service and this is where I could do with some help. The bill is £406.09 (we don't have VAT here).

The work completed is listed as having replaced gear oil and gear oil filter and also changed the brake fluid. My service book lists the gear oil change as being at 40,000 miles and the brake fluid being every 2 years. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? If it is the garage seem to have done the brakes at the right time but the gearbox oil 20,000 miles late!

Also, amongst the parts that I have been charged for are four filters which are listed as follow;

02E305051C Filter

071115562A Oil Filter

1K0129620D Filterelem

1K0819644B Filterelem

Now, I understand that one will be the engine oil filter, one the gearbox oil filter and the third an air filter, but what is the fourth filter? - Fuel maybe?

I'm no expert & don't know about the part numers but I would have thought One would be a pollen filter & one would be a fuel filter.

Can't help with the other two though sorry.

You have an oil filter, fuel filter, air filter and cabin air (pollen) filter in the Octi2. 4 items on your bill as well.

edit: Flywheel? That's a manual gearbox, no filter there. The DSG has one, that would be a 5th piece, but you only change it every 40k miles, IIRC.

:o Can't believe I forgot the air & oil filter. Told you I wasn't an expert:rofl:

Ah, pollen filter is the one that I hadn't thought of - thanks.

Re Flywheel - it's a DSG 'box hence the filter, I'm guessing that as the 'box was out the oil and filter were replaced. IIRC the filter is an internal one?

flywheel - was that covered by warranty?

IIRC the filter is an internal one?

It's in the sump, yes, but it's easily accessible with the gearbox in as well.

The DSG oil filter isnt in the sump its in the top of the box just under the battery.

Yes, 60,000 mile service so only just. I'm told the flywheel itself is a £400 part!
